  1. pretty good teams. i think i could win with one of those.
  2. if you actually think that the Argos (who have 4 backups, all of whom are more promising than Goltz) would trade for Goltz... i'm petitioning Rich to change your userID to Wsniffsglue01.
  3. I think Ottawa would rather have access to the NIs quite personally. I think there are enough options at qb that depending on who is available if they don't take a qb off someones roster they will trust in the ability to get a FA qb. Hell I think if Austin really is on the outs with Burris that he's the guy Ottawa will be targetting simply because he's a big name they can easily market. i get that having the sort of access to NIs that the league is giving the Redblacks is a once in a lifetime opportunity... but the only thing in our league more important than NI depth is having a top QB. so as Mike says... if Ottawa's powers-that-be have identified one QB as "their guy", then they must obtain him at the expense of all else.
  4. off topic... since the Bombers are going to the West division... does that make the Bombers your favorite team in the West? favorite fanbase in the west, sure. but i'd have to root for the Senator's other team against the Bombers...
  5. roadmap. apple.
  6. Willy and Demarco are free agents, Burris is a free agent and I would imagine Hamilton will use that to protect Dan LF, Bo Levi will be protected by Calgary and I'm pretty sure Nichols is also a FA I can't ever remember so many QBs all FA at once …. doesn't give Ottawa much to pick from especially if we trade for Tate didn't "like" your post because i agreed with you... in fact, i doubt the WBBs go anywhere near Tate as a first option QB... i "like"d it because chimp in a suit with shades.
  7. well... for the purposes of this thread, he is the GM...
  8. lol! why stop there? i'm sure you could get Van Zeyl and Gabriel thrown in... that'll work against some teams who don't need a human-shield in the dispersal draft as the Argos do... but Collaros' value to us (as of the end of our season) is to either allow us to keep our NI assets, or to fetch us one that is as least as promising as the one we'd lose due to not having Collaros. (presuming he gets drafted...)
  9. and you'd get turned down. a third pick and a maybe-next-year-pick isn't worth as much to the Argos as having Collaros as a shield to our other players in the dispersal draft... ie: the guys we protect because he gets taken would be worth more to us than a 3rd rounder.
  10. both are very easily accomplished... really not sure if you're serious.
  11. i think Lawless is right. i also suspect that he might have been given a knowing wink from Miller so that he can run this up the flagpole. in any other season (one without a dispersal draft) and under most other circumstances (like not being desperate for a QB and/or having a lameduck HC) it would virtuallly be a no-brainer to bring in a Higgins-type... but this season is different. and i think that a fast and adaptable organization ought to be able to (as Lawless says) already have a handshake deal with Barker and have had discussed terms with Collaros' agent... and should already have a HC on standby to name the second day of the offseason (after Burke gets relieved of his duties but before the dispersal draft).
  12. I dunno, at least 2 of those TDs, the receiver was wide open (like 10 yards wide open) Banjo wasn't working. They were getting all tied up on who was supposed to take the inside or outside routes, that's what the Argos were exploiting. Really should have flipped to a more passive zone and force Ray to make a throw. If you really think that would have worked, clearly you were playing zero attention to what happened when the Argos were at IGF back in July. Same as tonight. They shred man and match coverages with the waggle and clearing routes. They try to stem the half on an inside route and then break it out, if the half or corner take the wrong route in that match coverage, Ray has a receiver all by himself. The other issue are the underneath routes, the DB's are afraid to jump them because they are worried about Ray hitting those routes over the top, or being too aggressive and the receiver turning a 4 yard route into a 50 yard play. It's unbelievably simple but well executed. Need to change the looks given by the defence. Milanovich has done a real nice job of bringing that Trestman offence to Toronto where you force the D to make a choice and then kill them with the other option. It's all one read, often pre-snap, just like Calvillo. You need to change the looks so that first read doesn't give Ray an easy throw and you can beat it. Burke had it down pretty good against Calvillo as a co-ordinator. that. elegantly stated. that's 3 times in 24 hours i've agreed with and/or quoted you... weird.
  13. Hopefully he trades Collaros here for Steve Morely before making the jump. uh... no. Morley, Boatman, Dewitt, Parenteau... you can keep 'em all. (i'd take January back though)
  14. Can you post a link? I feel vulnerable in unfamiliar territory. JBR kinda tipped it already, it's the Barker to Winnipeg thread on the first page of the Double Blue room
  15. actually, i think that JBRs 3rd rounder plus a conditional 1st isn't unreasonable. but i also think that the rights to Bilukidi is a fair offer too. heck, we're losing the guy anyway...
  16. agree with JBR. IF the Bomber management/personnel team (whoever that may end up as*) identify Collaros as their man, they have to be ruthless in pursuing him. this means dealing for him and getting him locked up prior to Ottawa getting a shot at him in December or Hamilton and Montreal taking a run at him in February. but heck... there's other guys out there and maybe he isn't their guy. so yeah, trading an NI prospect (who frankly, may stay south for another year or two pursuing his NFL dream) to get your shot at a potential long-term solution at QB is a good value. *interesting rumour about this on Argofans this week
  17. could be a good deal for both sides... but i wouldn't do it if i was Winnipeg at this time. not because i don't think that it's a fair exchange of values, but because you may not have your starting NI LB after Feb 15 so trading away a prospective starting NI until the one you have is locked in is a bit dicey.
  18. hey man. just sending some contracts in to my home office and then heading in to the city for dinner and warm up drinks. edit: paperwork done early. have time to kill, will be playing GTAV until i leave (4ish)
  19. stupid TiCats. a time will come when we'll regret them having opened this door.
  20. it's what teams do to us immediately after we concuss their QB. hell... Buck did it.
  21. i hate this ruling. the judge found the TiCats letter notifying Williams that they were exercising their right (as expressed in his bleeping contract!) to his option year insufficiant... what in the tapdancing **** were they supposed to do that would be sufficiant? send him an invitation engraved on a silver plate written in gothic caligraphy in iambic pentameter? bullbleep.
  22. okay, okay fine. i'll be on your board. just stop pestering me.
  23. Yeah bluto this season for the WBB reminds me a lot of the Andrus year the Argos had to endure. Same kind of situation, no QB, a coach who just looked lost all year, only hope is for next year when the team can clear the decks, bring in some better coaching talent and rebuild. the comparison had occurred to me as well. we had The Don come in and fire everybody you guys have Miller.
