  1. You can stand by your fact but it doesn't make it right. How can you say a 3-15 team has talent? Sure, at a few positions but overall, not enough. Take Ricky Ray out of the equation, and insert Justin Goltz, or Jason Boltus., you're not getting close to half the same results. Sometimes a great player at a key position makes everybody around them better by association. except that Ricky was out of the equation for 8 games... and while nobody could say that the offence was as good without him, the team wasn't crippled.
  2. i dunno man... i look at who the 24 nominal starters would be and only see a handful that i would "just have to" keep. think about it. You're talking 24 starters, which is still debatable, ...but iso_55 refers to the whole roster. And you're not going to turn over 40 players in one year. i think that Al is saying that the majority of them are expendable because of their level of play and potential to improve. and i don't disagree. and i think that rebus rankin kinda got the point.

  4. to be fair... i had misgivings about Pinball being made Toronto's HC... that worked out ok. mind you, he had stud coordinators and position coaches. he also didn't come in with an existing track record of being an average (at best) coach.
  5. Herb Zurkowsky is saying that he heard last week that Khari is the next Wpg HC
  6. going to miss Mike's avatars...
  7. The Chris Jones point is moot. Why would he leave Toronto for a lateral move? Well, when he left Calgary it was a lateral move. As was Tim Burke coming here. no it wasn't. he got an extra title and authority.
  8. well... sorry to disagree with you guys, but so far from what i have seen: Noeller, BlueandGold, iso55 and BVD are definitively anti Khari been hired. ALuCsRED, sweep the leg, Jpan85, 17to85, The Unknown Poster, gbill2004, bricedream have all been intrigued by Khari as a hire and may not all be for it, but none were definitively against Mr.Dee made a comment i couldn't parse... and Jimmy Popp would like to see if he wants to try a comeback under centre. so yeah... on this forum (and others where it is being discussed), KJ is a candidate. is he a candidate for Miller and Walters? dunno... but i think he'd have been brought up at the very least.
  9. i get why there's so much love for Khari in Wpg. but i think that some folks are allowing that to make them think that he's some saviour of a HC in waiting... i see no reason to view him as such. he was a middling QBC in Hamilton, then he was so underwhelming an OC that he ended up a middling QBC for another team the following year. i thought that the consensus here was that the Bomber Fanbase wanted someone proven... KJ is anything but proven.
  10. fyp. this point and Mark's is why i feel like we could do them again. as for Mr Dee's point about Calgary not allowing itself to be outcoached, i would invite him to consider the possibility that they may not have any say in it. having said all that... the Argos still have to lick some ***** first.
  11. Argos v Stamps. having 40k Saskahicks cheering for Toronto would amuse me to no end.
  12. more likely Whyte's errant aim decided it than 1 call... whatever. i just hope the Argos smash the Cats for making me watch such a craptacular ESF (and because F the lolCats... but that should go without saying...) here's hoping a week Monday the front page of the sports section bears the headline "Argos lick the *******". EDIT: that shouldn't be censored! i meant the word as a synonym for "cats"...
  13. Owens last year was bullshit, shoulda been Ray as the argos nominee then too cause without Ray Owens is not nearly as impressive a player. Ray makes everyone on offence better... but Owens was doing 3K yards before Ray. and his 3 X 3K in a row was/is unprecedented in pro football.
  14. Muamba is a very worthy nominee. In most years, he'd stroll to the league-wide award. With the new SMS in place, he's going to be pushing the pay envelope for the rest of the league. For anyone questioning Ray as a nominee for MOP this season, i really don't know what to tell you. His numbers ought to speak for himself. And if it bothers some posters that the media seem to be gushing over him (or Owens last season) it is simply because he has just smashed multiple records and looked awesome doing it. having said all that, i doubt Cornish gets beat.
  15. Works the other way too if Redblacks value the non-import talent that the have Argos more than the Collaros. Could draft a QB like Glenn and develop a QB for 2-3 years. just saying, there's a potential coup here for the GM of a team that needs to improve at O-Line and QB right away.
  16. posting in this thread because i had a random musing which kinda fits here and the more i think about it, the more i think this is coming. our Outstanding Lineman candidate is going to be a Redblack and Winnipeg's GM (whoever that is) should recognize and act on this. Toronto has too many good NIs to protect... so maybe we keep Collaros to shield Keeping? whatever comes, i figure that VZ, Eppele and Holmes get protected (along with Durie, Gabriel and Laing) which means that guys like Jeff Keeping, Matt Black and Spencer Watt are exposed. we might be praying that Ottawa takes ZC
  17. The fact that he's always an automatic allstar selection and always shows up in the MOL category for the bombers and the way the commentary always hypes him up the reputation suggests he's a top teir o-lineman. I don't think he is, I think he's a good journeyman player but hardly elite. Oh please, you just don't like his name. What specifically is it about January's game that makes him not elite? top tier tackles will pretty much take over a game by imposing their will on the trench-battle. remember Murphy a couple years ago in BC (and his second year in Toronto)? he put his stamp on every game and his opposite number would never get a sniff of the QB or RB. he utterly demoralized defences just by making his side of the LOS into a fortress. i'm a January fan, but as good a player as he is, and as much as i enjoy his willingness to throw down, he's never been a guy who dominates. this isn't meant to be a criticism.
  18. pretty good teams. i think i could win with one of those.
  19. if you actually think that the Argos (who have 4 backups, all of whom are more promising than Goltz) would trade for Goltz... i'm petitioning Rich to change your userID to Wsniffsglue01.
  20. I think Ottawa would rather have access to the NIs quite personally. I think there are enough options at qb that depending on who is available if they don't take a qb off someones roster they will trust in the ability to get a FA qb. Hell I think if Austin really is on the outs with Burris that he's the guy Ottawa will be targetting simply because he's a big name they can easily market. i get that having the sort of access to NIs that the league is giving the Redblacks is a once in a lifetime opportunity... but the only thing in our league more important than NI depth is having a top QB. so as Mike says... if Ottawa's powers-that-be have identified one QB as "their guy", then they must obtain him at the expense of all else.
  21. off topic... since the Bombers are going to the West division... does that make the Bombers your favorite team in the West? favorite fanbase in the west, sure. but i'd have to root for the Senator's other team against the Bombers...
  22. roadmap. apple.
  23. Willy and Demarco are free agents, Burris is a free agent and I would imagine Hamilton will use that to protect Dan LF, Bo Levi will be protected by Calgary and I'm pretty sure Nichols is also a FA I can't ever remember so many QBs all FA at once …. doesn't give Ottawa much to pick from especially if we trade for Tate didn't "like" your post because i agreed with you... in fact, i doubt the WBBs go anywhere near Tate as a first option QB... i "like"d it because chimp in a suit with shades.
  24. well... for the purposes of this thread, he is the GM...
  25. lol! why stop there? i'm sure you could get Van Zeyl and Gabriel thrown in... that'll work against some teams who don't need a human-shield in the dispersal draft as the Argos do... but Collaros' value to us (as of the end of our season) is to either allow us to keep our NI assets, or to fetch us one that is as least as promising as the one we'd lose due to not having Collaros. (presuming he gets drafted...)
