  1. More like he's wondering why they didn't find a way to pay Bighill what he's worth.
  2. Clueless comparison especially when you make it a second time. I guess your saying that BC's defense was so fatigued after losing TOP in the first half that they just couldn't play at all in the second half. No? So it's the fatigue factor only matters when it's the Bombers defense or only in the second half? 😎 If BC had say 5 or 10 additional minutes of TOP, then you could rightly use the fatigue argument, but they didn't. In short, I'm saying that a pro football player can take the stress of having to play 30-31 minutes of football no matter if 18-20 minutes of it are in the first half or in the second half.
  3. There aren't enough good NI's to go round right now which is why it's so hard to replace the ones who go down to injury. IF/When the CFL gets another team, the problem will become even worse. The best NI's go to the NFL, just like the best US players. We get the leftovers. Most NI's play special teams. Finding the last starting level NI is hard for most teams, which is why NI's get paid way more than their US born counterparts. I'd rather see better players than more NI's. It's the rules and the paychecks that set the CFL apart from the NFL, not a specific number of NI starters.
  4. Darrin Bauming‏ @DarrinBauming Bowman, 32, inks a one-year deal worth a reported $140k — friendly numbers all around for #Bombers GM Kyle Walters.
  5. An alternative to drafting early and restricting the movement of NI players (Which the CFLPA wouldn't go for), more NI's on the PR and more money in the SMS to make it work would be to reduce the number of NI's by 1 and increase the number of DI's by 1. Better players. Less money than paying extra players and the same restrictions we have now on player movement.
  6. You're comparison is faulty. It's not about what an old guy who sits around the house can do. It's about what a professional athlete can do. The defense doesn't do 40 wind-sprints in a row. They do a few then take a break and repeat. If the defense wants more breathers, they need to stop the offense from getting first downs. The idea that the defense gets tired when the TOP is almost equal is flawed from the get go.
  7. I think you are right that the Lions had the ball for more time in the second half than we did. That doesn't mean our D should have been gassed in the 4th though. They should have been well rested after winning the TOP battle in the first half.
  8. Wally made some dumb coaching decisions too. Challenging a 10 yard play. Not calling time out on the 1 with 17 seconds in the half cost BC another play at the end of the half.
  9. TOP was BC 30:28 - WPG 29:32, so no, the defense didn't tire out because of TOP.
  10. Argos have a better defense than we do and we have a better offense (At least in the first half of games). Strength against strength. Argos have a fair offense and we have a fair defense. Weakness against weakness. I expect a split on these back to back games.
  11. The 20 points allowed weren't just good defensive play. Lulay was rusty and missed open receivers several times. He also threw an Int that was 10-15 yards away from a wide open player in the endzone. Miss that throw by 5 yards and BC gets at least 3 more points and a good throw = 7 more. Burnham dropped a sure TD on the last play of the first half (Yes, it was also a good defensive play, but Burnham catches that ball 4 out of 5 times).
  12. Bowman needs to be targeted a lot to keep his head in the game and we have to put up with a few drops. We are only targeting him 2 or 3 times a game, which isn't enough.
  13. The horse collar was a horse collar. You don't need to grab the shoulder pads anymore to get called. Simply grabbing the jersey around the numbers is enough these days. It's been called that way for a couple of years now. The RTP's were all easy calls and the right call except the Wild one which was pretty iffy if you ask me. Players can hold up if they are in control. If they leave their feet, then they get a penalty in the 'player safety first' CFL. It's being called that way league wide these days. We didn't lose because of the reffing. We lost on some bad coaching decisions, a horrible game by Nichols, turnovers and a defense that couldn't make a stop at the end of the game when we needed them to.
  14. Everyone wants to get rid of crap hits like that one, but I think the punishment fit the crime for a first time offender. Do it a second time... double the punishment.
  15. It beats no suspension. If he does it again, give him 2 games.
  16. I predicted a Bomber win. First time this year I got the Bombers outcome wrong, but don't let the facts get in the way of your incessant whining about me. The O wasn't perfect. The D wasn't perfect. Special teams weren't perfect. Coaching wasn't perfect. All that's OK because no one should expect perfection. I do expect, however that we take the points that are given to us and that we choose the right plays for the situation on 3rd down. Simply doing that would have won us the game.
  17. I'm not even a high school coach but I know that on 3rd and 2, kick the FG and on 3rd and inches, just fall forward up the gut. Simply taking the points when we have them would have won us the game. Gotta say this is the first time this year I've been pissed at a loss because this one shoulda coulda woulda been a win if we just took what was there.
  18. Sure you can, because it's not just about the number of points allowed. We were lucky that Lulay was rusty because he missed deep throw after deep throw after deep throw. His receivers were open, he just missed them.
  19. Watch: https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/details-with-derek-taylor-jennings-disappearing-deep-ball~1434459 & https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/dunigan-diagnoses-jennings-struggles~1438390 then tell me again how Lulay won't make any difference.
  20. Calgary's offense looks different this year. BLM is throwing deep a lot and it's not just to one receiver. It's their defense that sets them apart tho. DB's are in tight coverage. LB's are hitting a ton and staying in tight coverage. Their DL is creating lots of pressure. The only thing that could set them back is their depth doesn't look to be as good as it has been in the past.
  21. I'm surprised that Rainey didn't get a fine.
  22. We lost to Hamilton with our backup QB and it wasn't a close game. The Riders won a close game against Hamilton with their backup QB. Does that make them bad and us good? Nope. Does that make them good and us bad? Nope. I called the Riders a surprising 2-2. I haven't predicted any of their games right this year. I have called all 4 of the Bomber games right. That makes them an unsurprising 2-2 at least to me. W's are the way everyone keeps track. Winning by big margins doesn't give you any more W's or any more points in the standings. We are equal in the standings. Does that make us equal teams? Nope. Going forward, baring injuries, I expect that we will win more games than the Riders do because I think we are the better team, but that doesn't change the fact that the Riders right now are not one of the 2 worst teams in the league. DAFUQ Wanna? No the first statements aren't equal and neither are the second statements.
  23. I'm not downplaying the Bombers accomplishments or suggesting that the Riders are on the same level as us. I'm saying that we haven't beaten anyone of note yet, just the bottom two teams in the league. You're the one saying the Riders are crappy because they've only beaten eastern teams, yet we couldn't beat Hammy and they did.
  24. I agree that they haven't beaten any good teams, but then again, neither have the Bombers.
  25. The 2 worst teams in the league right now are BC and Montreal. The Riders are a surprising .500.
