Jeff Hamilton @jeffkhamilton Mar 21 - The #Bombers offered Henoc Muamba a contract around $170,000, plus incentives. Justin DunkVerified account @JDunk12 Mar 20 - Henoc Muamba wanted to be paid more than #Bombers RB Andrew Harris, who is set to make just under $200,000 in hard money for the 2018 #CFL season That's 30K, but I also read that Harris made 190K this year, so 20-30K lower.
-
They probably lowered their offer when they found out that the Bombers are only willing to go $170K (FTR: 20-30K below Harris' salary).
-
His new team won't get a $35K discount just because Regina gave him that much for doing nothing. IMO, He's worth $190-200K, just like Westerman was. Next time you hire someone, go for the guy who got overpaid for his last job so you don't have to pay him as much, cuz he's already got it from someone else. See how that works for you.
-
Fixed it for you.

$190-200K for Muamba seems about right for a ratio breaking NI who plays like Import, especially one who plays a position that we need. I wonder what the Bombers think a 'strong pitch' is.
-
Talking about being dumb and not understanding... when I type "Are you saying", I am asking for clarification. Jones mistake was paying out 1 off season bonus before cutting Muamba. Other than that, he didn't do anything that other GM's don't do. If you didn't dislike him, you would treat him the same as the rest of the GM's. Again... If we need to cut someone to be able to afford Muamba, we will be doing the same thing. FTR: We've already signed 2 players (Durant and Bowman) who were cut by their teams (Not Jones) for SMS reasons when they were owed bonuses. Muamba would be the 3rd and we'd end up cutting a player who has already received his off season bonus.
-
Are you saying that it's "A total crap move" every time a GM cuts a player who is due a bonus soon? Most CFL GM's would disagree. Hint: It's done all the time, just like cutting a player because you've signed another player to make the SMS work.
-
It's the same situation. Cutting a player because of bringing another player in after the start of FA season. Turd down nation is suggesting that Oka could be cut (http://3downnation.com/2018/03/06/how-the-bombers-can-create-cap-space-for-henoc-muamba/) to make room for Muamba. It would just be business as usual same as when Jones did it to Muamba.

If we sign Muamba and have to cut someone else to do it, will you have the same complaint about Walters? (Asking for a friend)

Former Bomber Head Coach Mike Riley Fired
TBURGESS replied to BBRT's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Mike Riley is one of my favorite HC's. I'd love to have him back. -
I don't see how Flanders gets on the game day roster TBH. For him to see the field, we have to take one of Adams, Bowman or Dressler off or he's just a returner and Demski can do that job.
-
Roh's a rotation DE. I guess the Bombers don't see Corney as good enough to be the rotation DE all the time.
-
You can't replace Loffler with Leggett unless you start another NI somewhere else and I just don't see a 12 Import D.
-
I'm going out on a fairly strong limb that we won't sign any of the available MLB's. We could have been in on Bear Woods last year and passed. Muamba goes to the highest bidder and I doubt that's us. Walters has said over and over that they are happy with the LB's they have.
-
Muamba will go to the highest bidder. I've got no problem with that and I never have. If we still have Westerman's money, like some around here seem to think, then offer it to Muamba. He's a legit starting MLB and an NI who is a difference maker. He would also allow us to start an extra import receiver.
-
I think we spent Westerman's money yesterday.
-
It's ONLY 500-600K for 500 square feet.
-
I'm sure it has something to do with the QB situation. Who'd you rather have throwing you the ball, Zack 'I used to be good' Collaros or Matt 'I'm in the top 3rd of the league' Nichols?
-
Folks minds are blown when I like a signing? Where were these when I liked all the other signings except Hall and Durant?
-
PLAP loves to feed the ball to one guy for entire games. Sometimes it will be Bowman instead of Adams, Dressler or Harris. I'll take a few more Int's if it results in a few more big plays, deep to Bowman.
-
I like this signing, especially for $140K. Bowman's a proven big, deep threat, receiver who is way better than Denmark who he is replacing. He'll drop a couple a game and we need to feed him the ball a lot, especially right after a drop. Adams, Bowman, Dressler, Young Guy, NI are a pretty good receiving corps. If Nichols finds his deep ball accuracy, we should be able to score from anywhere on the field.
-
I'm not saying that LeFevour is any good or that we should have kept him or that we even should have signed him in the first place (Last off season's I hate this signing argument) or that he is an upgrade over Durant. I doubt anyone would say that. So no, that's not the argument. That's the big question. If Durant can get back to anywhere near where he was in 2013/14 (Very slim possibility to me) then he'll be a good signing, assuming that we need him for more than a game or two. You're right about me cheering for him when he gets in. I'd rather be wrong about Durant than right now that we've signed him.
-
Sorry, I actually did miss it. Durant was part of the problem in Montreal, not part of the solution. He himself said that he needed to play better and stayed in Montreal on a bye week to go thru every pass he'd made up until that time. Didn't help, tho. He still came out and played badly after that. FTR: He was part of the Riders problems in 2016 too. Everyone was talking about it last year, from sports casters to fans in forums. I'd guess if we hadn't signed Durant ourselves, that most on this forum would say he's done.

Everything is the Bombers do is wrong? This is the first off season move that I really dislike. I questioned re-signing Wild due to injury concerns and Nevis because he is expensive and was outplayed by the much cheaper Johnson, but I loved re-signing Randle and Bryant and I didn't complain about any of the other off season moves, but that doesn't matter cuz mbrg gotta mbrg. As for Cato being lucky... you bet he was, and I never suggested he wasn't, but that's not the only way to judge a QB. I didn't say he was my #1 choice . That would be Adams from the Riders. I didn't suggest that either of them were to complete for the #1 job against Nichols, so what you really want to look at is how Cato compares to Davis/LeFevour. Cato threw for almost 10 times as many yards (3570) in his 2 year career than Davis (377) in his 3 year career and more than LeFevour (2620) in his 5 year career. He's only 25 and he has more playing time than Davis(28)/LeFevour(30) combined. Durant peaked yards wise in 2010 and hasn't played a full season since then. His Eff Rating was 93.3 in 2016 which is below most of the other starters including Cato and Jennings. Willy was the only starting QB below him. Durant's Eff Rating in 2017 was even worse at 85.1. Jennings and Collaros were the only 2 starters below him. I'll be very surprised if Durant turns it around this year, but luckily we don't need him to be #1 unless Nichols goes down.

Actually, the Riders won 1 more playoff game than the Bombers last year.... 31-20 over Ottawa.
