  1. 3rd and 4, down by 7 and you go for the FG? Worst call I've seen since going for a 1 yard FG, indoors at sea level. Maybe even worse than that.
  2. Only cuz you asked... Hardrick - Excellent signing. Part of the heart and soul of our O line. Neufeld - Perennial backup who has started 3(?) games in the last 2 years. Pretty good when he's healthy, but has been injured every(?) season that he was a starter. I'd guess he's one of those guys who lined up looking for a contract at Walters door. I hope we didn't pay him a bunch and I hope that one of the younger, cheaper, guys beats him out for his 6th O line spot next year.
  3. I think the Refs should follow the rule book and never call it, unless contact is made or the ball is snapped. The mistakes are the ones where the Refs call it early.
  4. I'm not satisfied with the progress. I was hoping for a playoff game year 1 and expecting one year 2. I was hoping for a playoff win year 2 and expecting one year 3. MOS gave us 2 years out of the playoffs and 2 years of one and done so far. I have to wait at least until year 5 to get the playoff win I've been expecting since year 2. (Don't tell my my expectations are out of whack, Jones matched them with Regina and Trestman matched them with Toronto this year). Getting rid of O'Shea, which shouldn't happen this off season, doesn't mean blowing everything up. We have a solid core of players that we'd keep when we change out the HC. As for PLAP... I didn't like him as our choice for OC, but unlike 17, I can see that he's done a very good job. He still make some dumb mistakes like not sticking with what's working, but overall, he's been just what we needed. Other teams will see that and he has HC experience, so I expect him to get at least one HC offer in the off season. The money and prestige are one thing, but the ability to make all the decisions himself will probably be the reason he takes a HC job. The Edmonton version of Deeboy would mock the Edmonton version of TBurg and tell him not to mock back. The Edmonton version of TBurg would mock back anyway.
  5. 4 Years. 2014, 15, 16 17
  6. Who is saying blow it all up? I'm simply asking... Are we progressing as fast as we should be and do we have the right guys in place to take the next step? I'd get rid of Hall and I expect PLAP to take a HC job. Those 2 changes may be enough to get us over the hump, or they may be the death of the MOS era.
  7. 23 points down. 3 TD''s, 2 with 2 point conversions just to tie AND we have to hold Edmonton to 0 points during that time frame. Yah, that's points after beat down. Been watching the CFL for 50 years. I don't remember the last time we came back from that many points down in the last 8 minutes, especially in a playoff game. Edmonton went into soft zone. Kept everything in front of them. Just made tackles and forced us to take time off the clock. On offense, they mostly ran and threw a few safe passes to make sure they didn't turn the ball over, which was about the only way we had any chance of coming back in the game. This group has 2 years without the playoffs and 2 years of one and done. Using that progression, we'll get 2 years of winning a playoff game then 2 years of wining the Western Final and 2 years of the Grey Cup. Just 4 more years to wait.
  8. I'm not, but the guys mentioned aren't DB's, so they wouldn't have helped the breakdowns that allowed Edmonton to get up by 3 TD's in the first place.
  9. You think we get those last 16 points if Edmonton needed to stop us? You think that Edmonton would have tried to simply run out the clock if they needed to score?
  10. Typical SPUDS. Whine about my posts and bring up 'red herrings'. I'm not going to recap the entire season and point out all the things that should be taken into consideration. No one does that. I will say that injuries played a part in this season, but every team goes thru them. The better coaches and GM's manage to win thru them. Under MOS, we got to the playoffs in his 3rd season. He still hasn't won a playoff game after 4 seasons. We were closer to winning our playoff game last year than we were this year. Is that actually trending upwards? If you go by playoff wins, and I'll take playoff wins over regular season wins, then you have to say the Riders had a better season this year and are trending upwards even more than we are. Compare MOS to Jones, who took over as bad a team. He got into the playoffs in his second season and won a playoff game in that season and he's got a chance to win another one next week. Compare MOS to Trestman who took over as bad a team. He not only got into the playoffs in his first season, he got first in the east with a better record than MOS got in either of his first 2 seasons. He also has a chance next week to win a playoff game.
  11. A couple of things that no one is talking about: Last year, we were 1 first down away from a 50 yard FG to win the game. This year we were down by 3 8 point TD's with only about 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. An extra win during the season is nice and all, but are we really going in the right direction when we're farther away from winning the WSF than we were last year? Sometimes the HC to take a team from horrible to competitive isn't the kind of HC you need to get over the hump from competitive during the season to winning playoff games. Are the current group the right folks to get us over that hump?
  12. This could be fun, let me try it out: MBRG, huffing some blue koolaid.. TBurgess makes some good points better make up something he didn't say then make fun of it, then I'll call it pure gold.
  13. Nice try, Mass did it with up to 21 players down. MOS starting losing when we had 3 starters down. You want to go simply by wins? OK, then it's Dickenson. I don't downplay everything positive, I just don't see how anyone but a homer would choose MOS for COTY when there are better choices. I do wonder tho.... Why my opinion riles up 3 or 4 people around here so much.
  14. You say win/loss is irrelevant (It's not, cuz no one is giving COTY to a guy whose team is under .500) and JCON asks how MOS can be tied for 2nd in wins yet not in the top 3 (Cuz Trestman took the worst team in the league to the best in the East). Ain't no way for me to win around here. JCON... I don't agree with your 'beating specific teams' as a COTY stat. MOS turned the team around in 3 or 4 years, but that's not as impressive as Trestman doing it in one, or Jones doing it in two. Dickenson won less games this year than last, but he still ended up with the most wins overall. Both COTY candidates have the top teams in their division. MOS got us tied for second in wins as did Mass, but Mass did it with a revolving door of players, which is more impressive.
  15. Not surprised that your're whining about my opinion yet again or that you're making up stuff I didn't say. FTR: June Jones? Half a year at about 50% wins... Nope. Just nope.
  16. My take on the contenders in order: Trestman: Took over a train wreck after FA and turned into the #1 team in the East. Not a great record, but gotta give him some serious props for turning the franchise around in one year. Dickenson: Got his team has the most wins again. This year he had to deal with bunches of injuries, including a dinged BLM for most of the season. Mass: Added 2 wins from last year to get his team to 12-6, tied for the second best record in the league and did it while dealing with the most man games lost to injury in the entire league. Jones: Doubled last years wins. Got his team to a playoff spot in the second season of their rebuild. Did it with the Rodney Dangerfield of CFL QB's, Glenn and Canuck QB Bridge. O'Shea: Added 1 win from last year to go 12-6, tied for the second best record in the league. Had the least man games lost to injury and the losses started pilling up when the injury bug finally hit.
  17. Ah blue goggled grasshopper. 3 things could happen in every game we win: We totally outplay them, which is your go to position. They totally sucked, which you seem to believe is my position. Some combination of 1 and 2, which is actually my position. You say it was relentless pressure, but ignore that their backup QB was taking more time than BLM to make their decisions and that their backup QB's were telegraphing their throws. 17 says that Harris outplayed Messam, but ignores that Messam had footing problems and that Singleton, their run stopper, was out of the game by the end of the first quarter. You call them forced turnovers and completely ignore the mistakes that their backup QB's and others made. I say some of the turnovers were forced and some were their mistakes. You say expectations disappeared because of the way the game unfolded. On that we agree, but then you put on you blue goggles and say it unfolded that way because the Bombers were the better team. I say that their mistakes were as much at fault for their bad day as our good play. All in all, it doesn't matter. The W is the only thing that does, but you and others have some sort of need to spin the win in a certain way and get pissed when I don't see it the same way you do. We'll see this weekend if playing a motivated team with their first string QB has a different result than playing and unmotivated team with their backup QB's.
  18. It's funny that BLM, who everyone recognizes as being injured and having a bad season, still passed for more yards than Nichols did this year. Yet, folks around here think Nichols should be the MOP of the league. I absolutely expected the Stamps to win. What I didn't expect was that Buckley would look so bad or that he'd throw a 50+ yard pick 6 on his first throw. Serious question back... What do expectations have to do with the way the game unfolded?
  19. For 1 quarter. How does their backup QB's playing like crap have any bearing on the outcome of the game? I can't believe you're actually trying to sell that. Maybe you should go back to one of my earlier posts so you can understand it better. Yes, the 1st turnover of the game set the tone and turned it in our favour. It put 7 points on the board. It made a backup QB starting his first game even more tentative. The 7 points turned out to be enough to win the whole freaking game. Without it, they most likely punt the ball, we get it in our end and we don't get 7, we likely don't score any points. Why do I say that... because we didn't drive the field or score any TD's in the entire game. Their defense held our offense to under 200 net yards, which not surprisingly is about the same as our defense held their offense to. We didn't outplay Calgary. we out-turnovered them, plain and simple. Why does it matter so much to you how we won? The main thing is that we did win.
  20. The pick 6, which changed the game in our favour, wasn't a forced turnover. It was a bad, telegraphed throw by a newbie Canadian QB in his first start. I'll go as far as to say that if LeFevour's first throw was a 50+ yard pick 6, the game would have turned in their favour. The Wild hit/Oko TD was a great defensive play and a forced turnover. The first turnover on downs was a forced takeaway. The second turnover on downs was a poor decision IMO, should have kicked the FG. Both of Stanzi's picks were horrible QB play. Messam's fumble was forced as was Harris'. You want to give all the credit to the Bombers. Everyone who watched the game could see that Messam was slip sliding away. The D line had a great game, but they also had a lot of help because the backup QB's weren't making quick decisions. It's the difference of Willy or Nichols behind the same O line. One takes sacks. The other takes first downs. Cut out the pertinent part of my post then whine that I typed the same thing to you that you did to me? I wish I could say that I expected better from you but sadly not. What about those backup QB's telegraphing their throws and taking too long to make their decisions? That means nothing to you?
  21. Caused by backup QB's telegraphing their throws and taking too long to make their decisions... Why is that so hard for you to admit?
  22. It's actually read a bunch of positrons with blue goggles on, who can only see the good things that the Bombers do. Give them other side of the story. Wait for a bunch of whining and whinging about stuff I didn't say from the same folks who can only see the good things. They did. Net yards for both teams were under 200. Our offence produced 6 points. They produced 3 points and they went on 3rd down well within easy FG range and I'm not even including their TD that was called back. They took Singleton out by the end of the first quarter. Not surprisingly, I think that had something to do with Harris getting his 68 rushing yards. Messam was obviously having footing problems, which had at least something to do with his 30 yard rushing day. We won the battle in the trenches (Much, not all, of it due to bad QB play), but the game came down to one simple thing... turnovers. 17 points off of 7 turnovers.
  23. Oh look! There it is again. I post, you post. Starting to get creepy bud.
  24. When one team needs to win and the other team couldn't care less, the team that needs the win often wins, especially when they get up by more than a TD. Most folks can see that BC mailed it in, but can't see that Calgary did. Some are even saying that pro teams don't ever mail in a game. Can't take me seriously, but have to post something derogatory every single time I post.
  25. Without a doubt, it was the Stamps giveaways, or our takeaways and special teams that beat the Stamps. Folks want to focus on how great our defence was and ignore how bad the Stamps offense was. BLM out was huge as it meant we could blitz at will and their backup QB's weren't going to pick it up. Add in the fact that their backup QB's were taking way to long to make their decisions and were telegraphing their throws and suddenly our defence looks great. Anyone think that BLM would have thrown the first pick 6 that set the tone for the game? Lefevour had a great completion percentage because he only threw the ball 10 yards and because our RB's/Receivers dug some low balls out of the dirt or snow. The fact that we were 10 points up in the 1st quarter meant that he didn't have to do any more than that, but lets not pretend that was a good offensive performance. Folks want the story to be how great we played to beat the stamps and ignore that teams with nothing to play for often mail it in, especially after they get down by more than a TD. Toronto showed everyone what it looks like when a good team plays a team that mails it in when they destroyed BC 40-13 and it could have been worse if they had better red zone production. We beat a disinterested team, in a snowstorm, against their backup QB's and others, when the offense didn't score a single TD and mistakes cost the Stamps at least 10 if not 17 points.
