  1. For what it's worth, I think he's worth 350-375K and I'd rather see low base/high bonuses. I don't think they are close to signing him yet. When asked at the '3 year extension' presser, Walters waited about 5 seconds before answering the question... "Are you confident that Nichols will be back next year".
  2. It's not just the Willy trade. The Als traded their first round pick for Vernon Adams. I guess you could say that was a bad trade too, but it does help to set the trade value for young QB's. I'd give up our first overall for Collaros or Harris (Ottawa and Hamilton wouldn't likely go for it tho) and let them fight it out with Nichols or Durant for the starting spot. Our starting NI's are strong enough to allow us to go for a QB upgrade and having a second first round pick means losing the first overall wouldn't hurt us that much. It's not like it was a few years ago when we had to expect our top 2 draft picks to start in their rookie years.
  3. A first round draft pick is the minimum any team has to pay for a QB with starting experience. Toronto gave up the #1 pick and more for Drew Freakin' Willy for gods sake. Saying you wouldn't give up the #1 pick for any QB other than BLM is the same as saying you'd never trade for another teams QB.
  4. No real reason? How about losing? We had 3 winning seasons in the last 10. I'll give you Berry, but did really want more years under PLAP, Kelly or Burke?
  5. It's apparently in his contract that he can try out for NFL teams between now and Jan 27. If he makes it, he's released. If not, his contract continues with BC. http://theprovince.com/sports/football/cfl/bc-lions/adam-bighill-chasing-nfl-work-but-has-to-sign-by-jan-27-or-returns-to-b-c-lions
  6. Too many years for me, especially for O'Shea, but at least it's done and we can move on. I hope everyone around here is right about O'Shea and that this year is what we can expect going forward. If the first 2 years are the real normal, the 3 year contract will be very expensive indeed.
  7. Forensics completely disproved that story a few days ago.
  8. On Challenges: 60 seconds to make a change, otherwise go as called on the field. Slow mo only used for in vs out, fumble vs down, catch or no catch, not used for PI. Remove illegal contact from challengeable plays. On a point for kick off through the end zone... I'd rather make it so the ball has to remain in the field of play to get any points for all kicks into the end zone. That way missing a FG doesn't get you any points unless the other team has a chance to run it out of the end zone. On eliminating 5 yards halo on punts... Nope. It's way better than waving your hand while chanting don't hit me. 3 point safety? Nope. Just nope. Infractions away from the play... gotta call them. You can't just let the players cheat as long as it's not on the play side.
  9. There are at least 2 stories in this one. The police are likely waiting for the forensic evidence to verify which story or stories are viable. If the shooter actually stood over the victim and pumped a couple of shots into him, then it should be pretty evident in an autopsy.
  10. No surprise at all. O'Shea is nothing if he's not loyal.
  11. Lots of turning points in the game. BC's roughing the kicker penalty could have been the turning point. Their stupid taunting penalty when Adams dropped a pass could have been a turning point. Their big drive at the end of the first half might have been a turning point. The deep ball to JFG might have been one and the huge PI call too. The last turning point was the most important though. Trying a 61 yard FG.
  12. The ball wasn't caught, it was already past the receiver when Loffler laid him out. In the old days, it's a great hit and my section is chanting 'bring out the meat wagon and get this game going'. Nowadays, it's a dangerous hit and will be flagged every single time.
  13. 3 Stars: Nichols - Best game as a Bomber. Looked like an elite QB out there today. Smith - Best game as a Bomber. Sweet redemption after a so so year. Randle - Pick and some great coverage. HH: Harris - Was great when we used him. Should have used him more often. BTW: The Loffler penalty will be called every time it happens. It isn't the 70's any more.
  14. Try uBlock origin to get rid of the annoying ads. Also free and uses way less resources than AddBlock or AddBlock +.
  15. Unless Edmonton gets a lot in return, it makes no sense for them to trade Franklin. He knows their system, he's the best backup QB they are likely to get, not expensive and he has a huge upside.
  16. With east vs west, the coach of the year finalists make sense. If it were 1 division, not so much. Looks like Medlock is a lock.
  17. JFG finally gets a start. It's about 6 games too late, but at least O'Shea is finally making the change.
  18. He's got more than 1 good game in the CFL. In 2015, he threw for 3 TD's against us in only 8 attempts. He got a 335 yard game against the Argos too.
  19. I'm no Vanilla PLAP fan, but you have to admit that he's way better than our last few OC's. The consistency argument, when we are winning, actually makes sense. I think we'll have the same coaching staff next year unless PLAP gets a HC gig and I don't see that happening.
  20. I'd certainly be interested in Franklin, more than Durant, Glenn or Hank for what it's worth. He's played some very good football in his limited reps. He's young. Strong. Throws a great ball. Tons of upside IMO. Not sure that Nichols would like to see him in Winnipeg though, as he already took Nichols backup job away from him in Edmonton.
  21. Point taken. 7 missed converts and the fact that Medlock also punts gives him an advantage over Paredes. Rainey's the best returner in the league IMO, so it's big returns vs great consistency. Voters might go with the more exciting guy.
  22. With Rainey and Paredes, Medlock might not even make it out of the west, but if he does, I can't see anyone from the east beating him.
  23. I agree with allowing a QB to work his way out of a funk, but that time had come and gone by the beginning of the 4th. A change may have sparked the offense and certainly would have shown the rest of the team that there are consequences for bad play and that means watching from the sidelines.
  24. Tate's starting, so the Als have a slightly better shot.
  25. Kick out of bounds was the wrong call because Bowman obviously touched the ball. Penalizing Reinbold was the right call, because he was going off on a ref and wouldn't stop.
