Coach Mike' Everything is' O'Shae
TBURGESS replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Folks wouldn't complain about the same things over and over, if the Bombers just stopped doing the same things over and over and over and over. -

It's more like there are way more bad things than good things lately so an even discussion looks like bitching to those who only want to discuss the good things. -
Week 3 (vs Ham...Now With Depth Chart)

Disagreeing with what the Bombers do and disagreeing with other posters isn't the same as being angry. Progress and process don't matter until they result in wins. -
Week 3 (vs Ham...Now With Depth Chart)
TBURGESS replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't care one lick about progress.... I want a win. I'm completely over 'trying real hard', 'watching the film' and the 'these guys are good professionals'. Win or make some changes. -

25 of the 36 points we've scored have been in the 4th quarters of the two games we played when the games were out of reach. 7 were from a blocked FG. That means the offense has scored 4 points in 2 games when the game was in doubt, all of them in the 3rd quarter against Montreal. -
JUSTIN DUNK's take... Find out what showings produced moves on the Quarterback Index. 1) MIKE REILLY EDMONTON ESKIMOS (LAST WEEK: 1) The bye week gave Reilly and the Eskimos lots of time to recover from any training camp fatigue and extra time to prepare for the return of Chris Jones to Edmonton. 2) BO LEVI MITCHELL CALGARY STAMPEDERS (LAST WEEK: 2) That’s more like the No. 19 we’re used to seeing. Calgary’s franchise pivot guided the offence to 36 points in three quarters against Winnipeg, throwing for 309 yards and two touchdowns. 3) DARIAN DURANT SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (LAST WEEK: 4) More than a year after suffering a torn Achilles, Durant took the field in a regular season game and looked sharp, especially when you consider that he’s in a new offence too. The 33-year-old threw the ball with authority and moved around well when needed. 4) TREVOR HARRIS OTTAWA REDBLACKS (LAST WEEK: 6) Just like everyone thought: after two weeks in the 2016 season Harris leads the CFL in passing yards and touchdown throws. Remember, he was supposed to be on the sidelines watching Henry Burris run the offence. 5) KEVIN GLENN MONTREAL ALOUETTES (LAST WEEK: 5) Montreal lost S.J. Green in the second quarter and Duron Carter in the third, which took the two best receivers out of the equation against Ottawa. Green’s done for the season with a shredded knee and Carter could miss some time if a suspension is handed down. Those happenings are big blows to Glenn and the Als passing attack. 6) RICKY RAY TORONTO ARGONAUTS (LAST WEEK: 7) It seems as though Ray is easing into the season. He only completed 13 passes in Riderville as part of Toronto’s victory. Vintage Ray has yet to appear. 7) JONATHON JENNINGS BC LIONS (LAST WEEK: 8) In windy conditions at Tim Hortons Field, Jennings stayed calm, made some plays and never forced a throw. That led to an impressive road win in a hostile environment and against a stingy Ticat defence. 8) DREW WILLY WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (LAST WEEK: 9) When the game has been on the line in two starts to begin the campaign there has been little sign of Willy. Conversely when the outcome has been all but decided he’s racked up some yards – that cannot continue to happen. It’s time for Willy to prove to us that he’s capable of being a legitimate starter. 9) JEREMIAH MASOLI HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (LAST WEEK: 10) Hamilton’s current No. 1 signal caller was erratic and made a costly mistake on the Ticats’ initial drive in the third quarter that allowed BC to take control of the game. 10) TRAVIS LULAY BC LIONS (LAST WEEK: 11) Lulay’s acceptance of a mentor roll – while also competing – with Jonathon Jennings has been integral to BC’s 2-0 start. They’re constantly communicating on the sidelines and it’s clearly benefited the entire Lions team.

Keeping was signed to back up Goosen, not the other way around.

Please stop blaming the fans for the Bombers problems. The fans don't pick the CEO, GM, Scouts, Coaches or the players. The fans don't have any power at all except to stop buying tickets/merchandise. Even then, they don't get any say in what changes are made. There's a term for GM's and Coaches who listen to the fans...... UNEMPLOYED!
-
All that's because garbage time comes early in Bomberland and we end up playing against pillow soft prevent defenses for a quarter or more each game.
-
BC wouldn't take Willy and his contract (400K) straight up for Lulay and his contract (200K). In fact Willy's contract plus what he's shown on the field probably makes him untradable.

Man it's depressing to have to be talking about when we euthanize our HC after week 2. There are lots of reasons to do so, but that doesn't make it any less depressing.

Odds and Sods - Game 2 - Bombers at Stamps
TBURGESS replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This post tells me all I need to know about you. -
It's all on the players? Our D line Westerman (17 Sacks), Cummings (8 Sacks), Shologon (7 Sacks), newbie get 1 sack in 2 games? I doubt they forgot how to play so I have to assume it's coaching. Bass was 5th in the league in tackles last year. Wild was good enough to get an NFL look. Randle's a shut down corner. Leggatt would start on almost every team either at safety or LB. We weren't that good on defense last year, being 7th, 8th or 9th in a lot of categories. Personal wise, we're good enough to hold Calgary to under 200 yards rushing and 350 yards passing. Scheme is coaching. Being ready to play before the 4th quarter is coaching. On our O line, Bryant came in as an all star player and hasn't looked like one since he got here. Sorenson and Greaves weren't good enough to play for us, but are good enough to get Grey Cup rings in Edmonton. All three guys played better on other teams. I have to assume that 2 guys didn't magically get better when they left and that one guy got magically worse when he came here, so I blame it on coaching. I also blame it on Walters not bringing in more NI OL either through the draft or FA and for getting rid of NI's who are serviceable in the short term for futures like draft picks. Harris is a top RB/Receiver. Smith is an almost 1000 yard receiver. Dressler and Adams too. Folks were crowing about how good our receiving corps was going to be this year until they saw them actually play. We have 'the most accurate FG kicker in the history of the league" as the Bomber like to say every time they talk about him. The players we have can't play our schemes? That's on the coaches and the scouts, cuz they were brought in to play our schemes and if they can't do it, then change the freaking schemes to something they can play in.

Consistency is only good when you're doing the right things. It's terrible when you aren't on the right track, and we are off the rails. We kept O'Shea for consistency last off season and MB the year before for consistency. Both moves will likely have the same outcome. No better than the last year.

Week 2 Other Games (Als vs Ott Sask vs TO Ham vs BC)
TBURGESS replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So far, BC's better than I thought they'd be. If they look that good against Hamilton, then the Stamps are better than I thought they were last week, which isn't good news for us. They're on top in the West, but it's way early on in the season. -
At this rate, I'll be done after the first 5 weeks.

Week 2 Other Games (Als vs Ott Sask vs TO Ham vs BC)
TBURGESS replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Interesting games last night. Ottawa looked very good again. Montreal took way too many penalties which cost them the game IMO. Carter made a great TD. Campbell shouldn't have been on the field and he should get an Oscar for his 'fall', but Carter did initiate contact and fines at a minimum are still coming for that play. Toronto scored 2 TD's before the Riders even showed up. One on a great punt return, the other on a blown coverage. Looked like it was going to be a long night for the Riders. Toronto also scored when the Riders fumbled the snap on a 3rd down gamble. Durant, despite not playing for almost 2 years, working with a new OC, and only having 1 receiver that he'd worked with before still looked good until he ran out of gas in the second half. Considering the number of changes in Regina, I was expecting them to be worse. If Durant stays healthy, which isn't likely IMO, they'll be in the mix. I have to admit that they looked better than we did in their first game. -
I've been wondering that since May. Would be nice if we got an injury update on him.
-
1. Get the ball to Harris early and often. He wants to put this team on his shoulders. We should encourage it. 2. Attack BLM. We've got the D line to do it and they don't have a great O line to stop it. Every QB will make mistakes if you hit and hurry them enough. 3. Get the entire team ready an hour earlier. Hopefully it will mean they are ready to play from the start of the game instead of the start of the 4th quarter.

Player wise, last years O line was better than it performed as a whole, which comes down to coaching. We decided we didn't want Sorensen or Greaves and they got Grey Cup rings on Edmonton. Those kind of decisions rarely are on the GM. The coaches tell him what players they want and don't want. The GM gets as much as possible for players that aren't wanted anymore. Better OC would have helped the offensive performance even with a below avg O Line and an average receiving core... the OC decision is O'Shea's. QB depth is on Walters scouting department and on O'Shea/MB's talent assessment. Walters did make a trade mid-season last year to try and fix it. The fact it didn't work isn't on Walters. He got the best available QB he could.
-
I like Walter's work, other than his scouting, much better than O'Shea's. I do think we had the player talent last year to do better and the player talent this year to be a playoff team. Walters has an extra year on his contract and GM's usually get to fire at least one HC before they get fired.
