  1. We lose our last 2 games. BC loses their last 3 and Montreal beats Regina to take the last playoff spot.
  2. I think it should be a group with at least 60% NI's on it no matter if they are good enough or not.
  3. Glenn's playing badly, but he's only had 2 practices and his receivers are dropping balls left right and center.
  4. It wasn't only O'Shea that wanted to keep MB it was also Willy...so I guess we should fire him also. Rookie starting QB's don't choose their own coaches. If that actually happened, it's yet another reason to get rid of O'Shea.
  5. Or some of us have seen what continual housecleaning every two or so years has done to this team. I see some good things in O'Shea (and no, I'm not a fan. I wasn't happy when Walters hired him) and I'm willing to see what can happen with him as HC. This assumes, of course, that he actually hires a competent OC. If, as has been said, he wants to keep MB after the season, then that tells me everything I need to know. The idea that folks who can't do the job for 2 years will suddenly get better in year 3 is fatally flawed. It's better to get rid of them when there are good replacements available (In the Off Season), then it is to keep them on. Keeping MB on this season tells me everything I need to know. The problem isn't firing guys who can't do their jobs every couple of years. It's hiring guys that we don't know if they can do the job n the first place that's the real problem. As soon as we find a good HC, we should keep him as long as possible. In the meantime get rid of the deadwood and try again.
  6. A lot of you folks want to hang on to O'Shea the way O'Shea hangs on to the guys he likes. No real reason for it. You just like the guy.
  7. The Win/Loss record is the most important thing to use to assess how well a HC is doing.
  8. They fire MB as the sacrificial lamb but MOS will be back. That'll be changes. Maybe they'll hire a new STC. That'll be the extent of the changes & what will be sold to the fans. I hope you're wrong and I worry that you're right. That situation is most likely to result in firing O'Shea mid-season when all the good coaches have jobs. It would probably mean giving him an extension in the offseason so he's not a lame duck coach too so we can pay him for not being our HC.
  9. Calgary just got better. Messam and Cornish in cold weather could be a lethal combination. Regina gets a kicker and moves up in the draft which should help them next year.
  10. It's trade deadline day. Regina either got something for Glenn today or nothing for him.
  11. Next weekend and the last game against Regina are more important than this weekend. Glenn will only get one or two practices before this weekend.
  12. Good trade for both teams. The Als needed a QB to have any playoff hopes and didn't give much up. Glenn wasn't in the Riders plans for next year and didn't have a contract anyway.
  13. Jerry Rice Jr. now there's someone who's Dad was great.
  14. You guys are trying to suggest that we'd have kept Etch if Hall and Benevides hadn't been available? WOW. If that's true then O'Shea needs to be gone RFN. Keeping Etch around after last years performance would be like keeping MB around after last years performance. Hmmm. Insert a Roseanne Roseannadanna-esc Never mind here.
  15. Nice story, but the facts don't support it. Bombers fired Etcheverry Dec 17, 2014. They hired Hall January 20, 2015 after interviewing other candidates like Benevides.
  16. That was a great football game. 7 or was it 8 lead changes. Went down to the wire. On the edge of my seat for most of the game. Some suspect reffing. Some great catches. Even some good defence at times. I wish the CFL could be like that all the time.
  17. Bad GM'ing. Sign Walker late August. Cut him early October. Pay him for the rest of the year because he's a vet. Would have been way better to bring in some rookie as a stop gap instead, especially at RB.
  18. No one's expecting the HC to shazam the squad into a powerhouse team. An average team would make most around here do cartwheels. As it stands, we need to win 3 out of the last 4 games and tie the other one to get to Richie's second season 7-10-1 record which would probably make the playoffs. HC's who are under 70 and have winning records... Benevides and Berry(67) immediately come to mind, there are probably others. The best thing we can say about O'Shea is that he hasn't lost the room? His coordinators are a problem but he's the one who hired them and kept them on. I'm not giving Walters an out, but O'Shea's in charge of which players play and he's often made some suspicious choices IMHO.
  19. Yep some people are ignoring those things...probably because they have absolutely no bearing on this conversation. You can't apply generalities across the board as if they are absolutes. You judge MOS solely on his body of work, and with the facts you have, if you are the Bombers....certainly not on historical data. If we ignore history, we're doomed to repeat it. If you ignore context, you're doomed to sound like an idiot. Yup... let's ignore history because context (excuses) are so much more reliable. #haha
  20. The 'Keep O'Shea' group has Friesen on their side: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/10/05/not-another-house-cleaning--lame-duck-status-might-put-jolt-into-blue-bombers-coach-mike-oshea
  21. He'd replace a DI, not a starter.
  22. You can't build through the draft in the CFL. You only get the player for their first contract. A couple/few years later they can be gone like Muamba and Labatte before him.

  24. Those who like OShea are grasping for reasons to keep him and now to extend his contract? You have to ignore his record or give him points for 'Moral Victories' to even think of extending his contract. You have to ignore the fact that only 1 HC who didn't make the playoffs in their first 2 years didn't get fired since the turn of the century, probably longer. You have to ignore the fact that only 2 HC's coaches in the CFL have ever missed the playoffs in their first 2 years and went on to be a good HC and one of them waited a decade to get a second chance.
  25. Extend O'Shea so he won't be a 'Lame Duck' HC? That kind of thinking got us an extra half year out of PLAP and we ended up paying him for 2 more years for doing nothing. Not extending O'Shea wouldn't hurt our OC search much if at all. An OC who wants to be a HC might even find it a bonus rather than a detriment.
