  1. Yep I'm really stumped on how it is perceived around here that we are in a better position here in bomber villa but it might change when we go to 3-6 unfortunately. man.. do you two ever get tired of being so depressed and pessimistic? id never wanna get outta bed lol. I'm not depressed at all and it's pretty hard to be optimistic since Willy went down. I'm actually pointing out the difference in attitudes between Montreal and Winnipeg. I prefer their attitude to ours.
  2. Montreal goes 3-5, losing their starting QB in the first game, beats BC in their own stadium for the first time in 15 years and they think this isn't good enough we need to fire the HC to turn it around. Winnipeg goes 3-5, loses their starting QB in the 7th game and thinks that we're on the right track and we need to keep everyone for continuity. Winnipeg fans crow about how bad those BC and Montreal teams are, and take shots at the 0-7 Regina team.
  3. I just want to see the best players playing. I couldn't care less if they are imports like Milt and Roberts or NI's like Walby and House. At the very least, the league should have reduced the number of required NI's by 1 when Ottawa came into the league. It would have meant the worst player on each team would be eliminated and replaced by a better player for less money. A win win situation if there ever was one. No it wouldn't mean that the best starting NI's would never get a chance. It would mean the worst NI's wouldn't get a job. Reducing the number of jobs held for inferior NI players wouldn't change the CFL very much, except maybe for better football.
  4. What a boring game. I was hoping for a tight defensive struggle. Boy was I disappointed. Edmonton fumbled and threw Int's. 7 or was it 8 turnovers ain't going to get you a win no matter how well your defense plays and they didn't play that well either. I'd start Franklin from now on if I was Edmonton. Other than the INT that he threw off his back foot while getting hit and that botched snap that he tried to hand off way too high, he had a good game IMO. Hamilton absolutely owned Edmonton in Edmonton. Collaros looks like the league's MVP QB. Their attacking defence is relentless and their special teams are great. Short of some more big name injuries they look like they are destined to be GC champs... but it's still early and other teams could catch up.
  5. Montreal's not out of the hunt for the last playoff spot. They're tied with us at 3-5. Riders aren't even out of the hunt if they manage to beat us a couple of times,
  6. Hmm... beat BC in BC for the first time in 15 years and you get fired? WTF?
  7. I think Montreal's defence has looked better without Bowman, so maybe he has reached his best before date.
  8. Good for Montreal last night. They haven't won in BC in forever. They ran the ball down BC's throat and BC had no answer. Not pretty, but effective. Wpg/Mtl/BC all tied at 3-5. Ham/Tor/Cgy/Edm all tied at 5-2,
  9. Simmons complained about playing time then traded a full paycheck for a PR paycheck and his agent's crowing about it.
  10. I'll go with Greaves because Neufeld was an upgrade when he went in then got hurt yet again. Bucknor gets picked on and exposed on a regular basis. Sometimes he's up to the task and folks talk about how good he is. More often, he ends up chasing his man down the field. Hurl's gone from horrible to almost average. I'm hoping to see Simmons take his spot in a few weeks once he gets the defence down, but I expect O'Shea will stick with Hurl. Picard's not as bad as lots around here make him out to be. He's better than anyone we had last year and obviously better than Goosen or else he'd be starting.
  11. AKA passing the maintenance costs on to the government.
  12. That's a big blow. Jace was the best RT we had by a long shot IMO. I cringed when Tyler was put in for good reason.
  13. You don't trade a starting NI for a backup Imp. If we want Simmons, and I'd like to think we do, we can either wait until he's cut, which may never happen, or offer a backup Imp for him.
  14. How bout slightly better than Labbe and way worse than Henroc? He started off terrible. He's moved all the way up to adequate. At least he makes some plays now.
  15. It ain't bragging if you can do it. Good on Hammy for celebrating on the sidelines when they're giving the boots to a team. It's a ton of fun to be on the good side of a 30 point win. I like Austin as a coach. You can always tell what he's thinking right away, he fights for everything he's got and he doesn't change no matter if he's up or down. Do something stupid, and he'll let you know. His team is a mirror of his attitude. I wish we had more of the win at all costs attitude ourselves.
  16. WOW. Two horrible blowout games in a row. Hamilton beat up BC by 30 after going up 21-zip early on. Sound familiar? Is 52-22 better or worse than 38-8? Unless something changes radically, it's either us or BC for the last playoff spot. Nice to see the backup QB's get some reps though. Calgary's back. They looked suspiciously like last years team as did the redblacks. Don't know why Ottawa sat Burris at the half. He wasn't their biggest problem and DeMarco is worse than Brohm.
  17. If he wasn't openly gay, there'd be no story at all. He'd just be another guy that couldn't make the jump from college to the pros. He'd have been cut when he left the Als the first time around and that would be it. If you want equality, which I do, then judge the man simply on how he can play football.
  18. Close games come down to a few plays. The 70 yard punt return and the missed TD to a wide open Demark on the first set of downs are a 14 point swing that we couldn't overcome. Stuff happens. The real worry IMO is the fact that we self destruct when we make mistakes. We fumble on the next set of downs after the punt return. Then we turn it over on downs the next time we get the ball. Then we try to get cute on 3rd and 1 and turn it over on downs again. That's 3 turnovers in about 5 minutes. Can't do that if we want to be a .500 or better club.
  19. I don't think that one was a PI flag. I suspect it was blocking before the receiver catches the ball, which is picked up if the ball is caught behind the LOS.
  20. We played a good game. In it until the very end even without Willy, Cotton, and Adams and with Marve getting his first CFL start. Some great plays. Some really bad plays eventually ended up costing us the game. Good entertainment value. There's still hope for the season with Marve!
  21. The Esks have the best defence in the league. They make a lot of QB's look bad, not just young ones.
  22. Edmonton gives up an int, a fumble for a TD and another int in the first quarter but they hold Montreal to 9 points. Turn it over on downs in the 2nd quarter and end up down by 12. Get a TD back before the half and end up down by 5. Pretty much what we did last week, but we ended up down by 31 at the half. Shows you what a difference a great defence makes. They also miss 3 makeable FG's taking 7 points off the board. Still end up winning the game. Oh yah, that's with 13 players on their injured list including Reilly, Bowman, White, Simpson, Chambers and Coehoorn.
  23. And the Monty and the Constellation Club where old strippers went for their last show and the Zoo and the Marble Club and the.... Wholy crap I drank at a lot of places.
  24. If I'm Toronto's DC, I bring every type of blitz I have until the O Line and Marve both prove they can beat it. I'd have the DE's come in square to reduce the chance of Marve getting outside. I wouldn't spy Marve with a LB unless I really had to because I'd rather send them on a blitz or use them in coverage. If I'm Winnipeg's OC, I use the CFL standard ride and decide play a lot on first down and on 2nd and short. I call quick slants because Marve only has to read if the guy is open or not then get outta the pocket if he isn't. I throw in a few draws and screens. I make sure there are layered receivers so more than one guy's directly in Marves sightline. I make sure my receivers know their scramble rules because they're going to need them.
  25. You wondering if things look better if you take our 3 worst games against the best defenses out of the stats? #HAHA I'll go out on a limb and say way better. Of course it doesn't matter because you can't take 3 out of 7 games out of the stats.
