  1. pot this is kettle, you're black! Seriously you're just impatient. What's wrong with letting the team get everything lined up and making announcements all at once rather than doing what you want, tying the can to the coordinators and then hoping they can get someone they view as a replacement to take the job. As we saw last season wanting to get someone here isn't the same as actually getting them. The disconnect here is how YOU view the coordinators the team has and how the TEAM views the coordinators they have. Safe to say the team holds them in higher regard than you do. Seriously, I'm not being impatient. They've had over a month to make up their minds on if they are keeping MB and/or Etch. It is safe to say that I think the coordinators need to be replaced. If you think the coordinators are good enough, it's just another thing you're wrong about. Keeping them = similar results next year. Quite frankly, there are more than one OC and more than one DC out there who are better than the coaches we have, so there's no down side to canning our current guys to make room for replacements. It's also safe to say that I disagree with the TEAM's view as I fully expect them to keep MB and Etch and I want them to tell the fans what's going on.
  2. What? I was thinking that there are more than one coach who could be considered the best candidate. How about more than 1 available coach who are better than what we have?
  3. I missed the extension in Jan 2014 so I thought he was a FA. I guess I was wrong. I'll change my vote to Montreal.
  4. We're still a recovering organization though. We've been the CFL's worst operation since 2009. Other teams' scraps SHOULD interest us. But should we scrap our co-ordinators, or worse yet throw their names in the wind as "potential to be replaced" before they've found a capable replacement? What if we can't secure that guy? Will the players in the locker room respect their DC if he's openly rumored to be replaced? Good organizations "make their dominoes fall" because they have the luxury of being able to be ahead of their competition. We're not a destination job right now... we can't do that. The hardest thing about being charged with leading a losing organization, is that it's soooo hard to turn it around. Look at Hamilton in the 2000's. Took them over 10 years of futility. Yes we should scrap any coordinator we find lacking. As soon as you make the decision that they are lacking, they've already got one foot out the door. We should not in any way name folks as "potential to be replaced". Cut them and replace them. There's always more than one guy who can replace them even if we miss out on the top prospect, especially when you're talking about MB and Etch. Good organizations make things happen, not because they are ahead of their competition, but because they have they make the right decisions more often than not. Sure it's hard to turn a losing organization around, but it's even harder if you keep the dead wood employed because you're too scared that you might get even worse. backwards as usual. Replace first cut second. If they're waiting to make sure they get their choices before firing anyone what good does it do to air all your dirty laundry in public? You seem to be one of the people who just wants the coordinators fired no matter who they are replaced with but that's a silly attitude that isn't going to be shared by the team. Honestly I'd suggest you only want a press conference so you have something new to ***** about. Probably just want to know if you cna really start in on the bitching about keeping the coordinators or not. Too much entitlement and impatience here. You never seem to tire of being wrong and argumentative. I don't want them to air their dirty laundry in public. I want them to make their decisions and let the coaches/media/fans know what those decisions are. As I've stated many times, I think those decisions have already been made because they'd be incompetent to not have made them by now and I don't think Walters/O'Shea are incompetent. I also don't think that signing our FA's is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week job or that our GM can only do one thing at a time. I don't want them to replace MB and Etch with just anybody. I want to see them replaced with the best candidates for the jobs. I believe there is more than one coach available for both OC and DC who fit that description and I want us to have a chance at signing the best available candidate rather than the guys who are left over. It's not entitlement. It's not impatience. It's moving forward and putting last season behind us. It's selling the vision of a winning Bomber team next year to the fans. It's selling the brand right before Xmas. My guess is that MB and Etch will both be back and announcing that wouldn't help sell the vision or the brand.
  5. Best chance for the backup to get starting time is in Ottawa or BC and Glenn isn't wanted in either city. I'd guess Tate goes to one of them. Montreal could be a good situation. Glenn already knows the Calgary systems and they didn't cut him, Ottawa took him. If/when Tate signs elsewhere, he'd be a good fit and that's where I'll place my vote.

  7. I wish for double digit gas prices. It's still $1.17 here in the lower mainland, where there are extra taxes so drivers can pay for the Skytrain and buses they don't use.
  8. I't an hour out of Walter's day to do a presser. If he doesn't have the time, then let O'Shea do it. It's really not that hard. Press conferences aren't about appeasing the fans. They're about selling the Bombers to the fans. It wouldn't be the same presser. The November presser was premature as the decisions hadn't been made or at least they weren't being made public. Would have been better to wait until they were ready to tell the fans something.
  9. I hope you're right Mike. The fans have been clamoring for the Royal blues for years.
  10. It's not about a wailing press conference or feeling entitled or even a sense of satisfaction. It's about the Bombers including the fans in the plan going forward to fix the obvious problems that kept us out of the playoffs this year. I'm not talking about every little detail. I'm talking about the big picture stuff, like which coordinators we'll retain. Good organizations don't wait for the dominoes to fall. They make the dominoes fall. They make decisions quickly and effectively and get out in front of the other teams. Waiting to see how things shake out is the way to end up with the guys no one else wanted. The Bombers had a 3 week head start on every team not called the Redblacks. If they don't have a plan in place by now, they are incompetent. IF O'Shea/Walters/Miller have realized that coaching changes need to be made and have defined where they want to upgrade, there's no advantage to waiting to tell the coordinators or the press. As soon as they reach out to prospective candidates the CFL community, including the coaches they want to replace, will know anyway. As soon as management decides they need to upgrade a spot, keeping the old coach around 'just in case' is counter productive. It's time for them to move on if they are going to. If they've decided to keep our current coaches, which is what I suspect has happened, then call a presser and let everyone know. If they've decided to replace one or more, then call a presser and let everyone know who's being replaced. There's no need to keep anyone twisting in the wind. If they haven't made a decision yet, then make one and let everyone know what's going on.
  11. That doesn't carry the same weight in the CFL as it does in other leagues. No one's been better in the CFL. That carries a lot weight IMO.
  12. Wally's been coaching or GM/Coaching or just GM'ing since 1990 and has missed the playoffs once. He's not perfect, but he's about as close as a coach/GM gets in the CFL.
  13. Wally the GM and Coach great. Wally the GM, Benny as coach, not so much. That's why he's gone.
  14. Hard to complain about Wally's record when our Bombers were 26-46 in the last 4 years. BTW: 3 out of 4 years weren't Wally the coach.
  15. Fringe NI player re-signed. OK move. Still like the way Wally's decisive with the changes on his team. Everyone, including the fans, know where they stand before the Xmas season is fully under way. I'd hope the players and coaches already know where they stand on the Bombers and I'd like to know too. I suspect the coordinators jobs are safe because Walters has moved on to re-signing fringe players.
  16. WTF - he's had over 24 hours - bloody hell He's had over a month.
  17. Another horrible decision by my favorite team.
  18. January had a bad year IMHO. In fact, Jace Daniels looked better in the short time he played. Big Salary + Lower Play + Injuries + Maybe Over The Hill + Rookie Looked Better = Hard Decision For Bomber Management.
  19. I think we should save our FA money for O lineman and NI's. I'd hope we can bring in competitive imports where we need upgrades without having to 'overpay' them.
  20. Alberta's economy is completely tied to the price of oil, even though they tried to change that after the NEP. Low crude prices = major political problems in Alberta and a lower Canuck buck which affects all of Canada. The price of crude will definitely affect housing prices in Alberta, but it won't make much, if any, difference to Vancouver and Toronto as their economies aren't based on commodity prices. IMO, the ONLY thing that will create a housing correction in Canada is a major raise in interest rates and I keep a close eye on the market. The current market is the reality. Recession? I hope not, but lower oil prices and a lower dollar certainly won't help. Employment numbers are the big driver. The less people who are fully employed the less demand there is for goods and services.
  21. I'd like to see Cortez and Washington as our coordinators next year and I know that's a long shot. The longer it takes to announce the decisions, the more I worry that O'Shea/Walters/Miller will keep our current coordinators and we will end up with another not quite good enough season.
  22. Sign Cortez in immediately if not sooner!
  23. I don't see how it's anyone's business where two consenting adults find love. It's kind of sad in this day and age that there are 5 pages on a topic about any players sexual orientation. All I care about is can he play football? The answer to that question is still up in the air.
  24. Thanks for the overview. Makes me want to don my Bomber jersey and head out to the parties. Take in the Montreal and Hamilton venues if you get a chance. The Esks room is always a top venue (At least it was in my time) as is the Eskimos breakfast if it still exists. Hammy's venue should be great this year.
  25. I'd rather have Price than Bryant. I rather have Stamps than Bryant too.
