2022 CFL Season - Back 2 Back Champs News
TBURGESS replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The question is: Is it easier to play 10 straight weeks, 3 of them against +.500 teams or is it easier to play 8 games, with 2 byes, 6 of them against +.500 teams or are they equally hard/easy? If things keep up as they have so far, the last 2 BC games will go a long way to deciding who is first thru third. -

You're almost there. 3-0 against good teams means we've played good teams 3 times, which is what I've been saying all along. I place less value on 10 straight weeks than I do on 3 out of 10 weeks playing against a +.500 team. I've answered the EDIT question a bunch of times already. Go back and read my posts again if you want. -

We've absolutely played down to the level of the poor teams and played our best against the other two top teams. That doesn't change the fact that most of the teams we've played have been bottom tier teams or that we play more mid & top tier teams in the 2nd half. (Tier 1 - Bombers, Lions & Stamps, Tier 2 - Riders & Argos, Tier 3 - The rest.) I disagree with your theory that it's hard to 'get up' for bad teams making it harder to win against them. If that was true, then bad teams would win more often because the other teams didn't 'get up' for them, turning them into better teams. It's simpler than that, bad teams are easier to beat because they're bad. We've mostly played bad teams so far and we're mostly playing better teams going forward. What's not to believe about that? Sure, but that doesn't change the fact that they aren't good teams. Lets double the wins to 2-6, non of those teams make the playoffs. Why can can see that the Riders have played bad teams, but you can't see that Bombers have too? This is exactly the same argument that I'm making. -

You're trying to change the discussion to things I'm not saying for $500 GeeBrr. The only point is that we're playing better teams in the 2nd half than we did in the first half. Explain to me how it's harder to play 1, 2 and 3 win teams than it is to play 5 thru 7 win teams. -

I'm not trying to delegitimatize anyone. I'm not saying that 10 straight weeks isn't physically draining. I'm not changing the goalposts. I'm not saying 9-1 doesn't make us the top team in the league. I'm not comparing us to any other team or their schedules. I am saying that the level of competition in the first 10 weeks is lower than the level of competition going forward, because we only played 3 games against +.500 teams in the first 10 games and we play 6 of our next 8 against +.500 teams (As it stands at this moment). I know folks around here hate the Riders, but you've got to admit they're better than most of the teams we played in the first half of the season. -

BC, Calgary, Sask are all above .500. That's 6 games against teams above .500 out of 8. All of them are so called 4 point games. Stickem.. Yup, it's nice to have the bye weeks, but the level of competition is higher from this point forward. -

In the first half of the season we played 2 teams/3 games against +.500 teams. The tough part of the season is ahead of us, not behind us. -
I broke the knob off of my TV changing channels after the 3rd miss. I was younger and angrier back then.
-
Nope! Not me. I picked the Bombers.
-
I didn't have to go back very far to find an example. Cote missed a 20 yarder in the 2nd quarter and got a 43 yarder in the 3rd quarter. Anyone have an example of a kicker missing two short FG's in a row to lose their team a game? I really can't remember another time. Why can't folks simply admit that our kicker missed two convert length FG's back to back to lose us the game? Everything that happened before the first miss didn't matter because we still had a chance to win it on the last play of the game. Heck, we still had a chance to tie it and go into the 2nd OT until Leggz missed the 2nd one. I certainly wasn't expecting Leggz to miss the 2nd one. In fact, I said to my wife that it's great that he has a change to redeem himself so soon after shanking one & then DOINK!
-
I don't want Leggz cut, but he needs to get the job done and he didn't last night. It wasn't just once either. It was twice in a row. Once to put the game into OT and once to lose it. Most kickers redeem themselves when they get a second change. Leggz didn't. That's gotta raise an eyebrow or two.

Week 10 - LOLouettes @ The Back-to-Back Champs - GDT
TBURGESS replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This game was a lot like a lot of other games that we won. Keep it close. 1 big drive in the 4th to put the game away. It would have worked again if Collaros hadn't fumbled and Leggz could make a short FG. We weren't going to go undefeated. We lost to an Eastern team like last year. We're still in first place and will be when we get back from the much needed bye. -

From CFL.CA: Points Against: BC 135, Calgary 150, Winnipeg 162. Where are you getting that we give up fewer points than anybody? -

We're number 1 in points allowed per game, but totals points allowed: BC - 135, Cgy - 150, Wpg - 162. -
I see. You're not whining about my post so much as whining about something I typed before the BC game weeks ago. No wonder I didn't understand what it was you are whining about. You're right, BC has an easy schedule so far, that's why I said we find out how good they are next week when they play Calgary. That game shows us who the 2nd best team in the league is. Two good teams battling are the best games in my opinion, so that's why I'm looking forward to it. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Bombers.
-
Why in your eyes do you think I either diminished the Bombers or expected other teams not to live up to our standards?
-
BC's already won more games this year than they did last year & they've looked great doing it. We'll know more about how good they are next week when they play Calgary. I'm looking forward to that game.
-
Woli - His best game of the season by far Schoen - Still on ROY pace Rose - They tried to pick on him and he was more than up for the challenge HH: Grant - The return for the TD sealed the game for us
-
Turns out it doesn't matter, I was out last week. Thanks anyway.

How is Burnham being back bad for the league? The CFL needs as many stars as they can get. -
I'm not suggesting Schoen is hall of fame material. I am suggesting he's Rookie of the Year material.
