Collaros went without playing for more than a year and still looked good, so a month isn't that big a deal IMO.

I still think it was the right move. -
Folks are way overplaying the OL issues. Some hurries. No sacks. We had a full complement of receivers and RB's. The game was just too fast for McGuire. That happens to most first time starters. He needs to play better than that to give us any chance to win.

I'm not giving up on McGuire, but that doesn't mean I think we can win a playoff game with him starting. He's not there yet and may never be ready.

Patched up or not, the OL gave McGuire enough time and opened holes for the RB. Montreal didn't even get a sack. -
I'm not sure why anyone's surprised or upset. All we needed to do was get out of the game without any injuries to starters and we did that. McGuire looked like a QB getting his first start. Bad decisions. Bad throws. One set of downs where he looked like he knew what he was doing. The rest of the time he rookie'd it. Next week he should look better. Cooper played himself off the team IMO. That performance was as bad as any rookie performance and Shaq's no rookie. I'd like to see Collaros get enough reps next week to get comfortable, then pull him so he can't get hurt. Today's game showed once again that Collaros is the difference maker. No Collaros = No Playoff wins for us.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what McGuire has. Good decision to give him this game, even if we lose.

I think Montreal will be better this week. Harris will have more of the playbook and will have worked with his receivers for an extra week. He missed a couple of easy ones, including the Bighill pick that turned the game in our favour.

3 stars and hh Lol'ouettes another pretender crowned.

Both feet were OOB before Bighill destroyed him. We've all seen that kind of play called RP tons of times. No surprise that the ALs wanted a penalty. -
I've lived in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Merida Mexico. The only one I'd go back to is Vancouver, but I can't afford it any more. My next move is out to Nova Scotia when my wife's parents no longer need us. Just bought a nice piece of land over looking the bay of Fundy.

Before Collaros - 3rd in the West, 4th overall = Mid-Tier.
-
The O line's been good for several years. We went from mid-tier to dominant the day Collaros made his first start.

No other coach could have 5 consecutive 10 win seasons because no other coach except Ritchie lasted more than 5 years. (Ritchie got 5 years + 7 games)

You be the commish! - CFL changes
TBURGESS replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Start and end the season earlier. Games on Thursday through Sunday before the NFL starts. Thursday through Saturday after the NFL starts. More game nights, less triple headers. X Canadians, Y Americans, Z Globals. QB's are treated the same as any other player ratio wise. Teams can dress as many or as few QB's as they want. Longer work days, more contact practices. No divisions. Top 2 teams get a bye. 2 & 3 get home games. 2 plays 6. 3 plays 4. 16 game season. Every team plays every other team twice. Saturday playoff games. Sunday Grey Cup. 2 year contracts with an NFL window. Teams retain rights of NFL window players who have another year left on their contracts. -

I think the CFL was hoping that Globals would be able to pick up the slack left by the NFL taking and keeping more players. Globals basically give each team an extra DI and they can play in US colleges before the CFL. GCn20's right about the OL situation and that makes the QB situation look even worse. Give Reilly time and he's still got the goods to produce big offensive numbers. Teams still want to use the tried and true 'use your Canadians on the OL', but it isn't working any more. DL's are eating them alive, which leads to tons of short dump passes and very few deep balls. 3 Import OL's make sense, but then teams need to be able to find starting level NI's at other spots. I know this is unpopular but maybe the answer is 1 more starting import and 1 less starting Canadian. No training camp and short work days can be fixed in the next contract and those changes should have a positive effect on the game. I hope the players association agrees. If the CFL wants to get fans more attached to the teams, then it needs to reduce the amount of player turnover. The 1 year contracts are good for players who have a good year and get an NFL look. Bring back the NFL window and 2 year minimum contracts and have the teams hold the CFL rights to the player if they come back to the CFL and still have a year left on their contract.

I'd almost forgotten about the pigeon poop jersey's, now I'm getting flashbacks. A pox on you and your families.

If Reilly is released, he won't be without a job long, but he won't get the kind of salary he gets in BC.
-
BC's effectively 2 games down on Hamilton. I can't see them crossing over this year.
-
I flipped a coin and it came up Riders. Should be the game of the week.
-
Shouldn't Ottawa keep PLAP for 6 years even if he doesn't make the playoffs in the first two years or win a playoff game until year 5? Surely it will pay off with a Grey Cup run in year 6 followed by a dominant team in year 7. For it is known that patience is the key. 😁
-
MOS would have a similar record to PLAP with that team. I give you MOS' first two seasons as 'proof'.
-
Most of Arbuckle's money has already been paid. IIRC his signing bonus was like half his yearly salary.

Anyone know the biggest season point spread for a season?
TBURGESS replied to tacklewasher's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's a balancing act between reps and protecting players from getting hurt. It will be very interesting to see how MOS handles it. -
The old 'What if' scenario, with a made up answer just to take a shot at me. 🙄 Cuz you brought it up: If Harris was put on the one game, I wouldn't complain about it. Then again, I didn't complain that he was put on the 6 game and I won't complain if he's taken off early so we don't get the SMS advantage. If MOS says a player looks like he's good to go, that means his leg is still attached to his body, not that he's actually good to go.
