  1. Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB - Andrew Harris a spectator at t camp Tuesday.
  2. What MOS didn't say is that the appointment was with a Dr cuz Andrew got injured. Just Kidding Folks.
  3. It's just as easy to be a fan and look at more than just the best possible scenario's, at least for me. Facts add substance to the history and shouldn't be ignored. I think don't think any of my opinions or any posters opinions should go unquestioned. I think that it's the opinion that should be talked about instead of trying to make it about me. Argue the post, not the poster. BTW: Cool story about drinking from the cup. I think you have it backwards. I'm trying to get speedy not to make it about me, not the other way around.
  4. I tried to get you to stop making it annoying for everyone including me and failed. Too bad. We could have made it a better place for everyone. At least everyone knows it's on you now. You remind me of the kid who so badly wants to be one of the cool kids that he goes way overboard. It's kinda sad in a kid, but really sad in an adult. I'm done.
  5. Facts are facts, not opinion. Example: Being 4th overall last year. No editorializing. No opinion. What's actually happening IMO (No H cuz I'm not humble), is that the facts don't match people's opinions. Rather than change their opinions, folks choose to ignore the facts and go after the people who are presenting the facts. Example: A lot of folks around here believe we were a dominant team last year rather than a mid tier team that had a great playoff run. Being 4th in the league and many other facts don't match that belief. Folks can't argue the facts so they go to: 'you so negative' and 'those facts don't matter' and 'who cares' and you think 'whatever words they attribute to me' and you're a troll or a Riders fan. That's where the emotional editorializing lies, not in the facts. I can't say if that's Fox News or no, cuz I don't watch it. This whole raging against Speedy this week is me trying to get it out of his system before the season starts. I'm hoping to turn the conversations turned towards discussing the issues in Bomberland rather than the constant whining about other posters. No, Speedy, I'm not going away. No, I'm not getting roasted. No, I'm not moving the goal posts. No, I'm not too negative. No, I'm not a troll. No, I'm not a Riders fan. No, I didn't say 'whatever words you're pretending I said'. If you want to discuss the issues instead of whining about the messenger, I'm here every day. Cheers and how 'bout the first day of practice eh?
  6. And there it is. Less than a day later. The whining continues. It's almost as if there's no power in positive thinking or singing or looking for the best outcome or even rainbow farting unicorns. If you wanted to argue logic errors (I'd enjoy that) you'd do it, but what you really want to do is whine about my perceived negativity. Anyone who has read your posts knows what you're about so own it. You're not the troll busting keyboard warrior you think you are and everyone knows what I'm about and that I'm not a Rider fan or a troll. I only need one way to present the facts because.... wait for it.... they are the facts, but I didn't say we had no business winning the grey cup. That's something you made up in your own mind after misinterpreting what I type to give you an excuse to whine. BTW: Presenting the same facts over and over is the opposite of moving the goalposts. I tell you what... How 'bout we both stick to discussing the current topics. For example: If we're discussing vet vs 'rookie' backup QB, we stick to that topic. I think it would make it a lot better for everyone, but it's up to you. Keep whining or go off topic and this crap continues.
  7. I put on my rainbow farting Unicorn hat, sing a few verses of kumbaya, use the power of positive thinking, completely ignoring the past I look for the best outcome... I believe this is the very last time that Speedy whines about my perceived negativity or uses a dumb meme instead of discussing the topics at hand. He's going to change his ways for sure. Lets see how well this works.
  8. Again, you're proving you don't have any idea of what you're talking about. I'm not bitching about being able to develop a QB. It's just a fact that should be taken into account when looking at developing our current backup QB. Streveler, one of our best development QB's wasn't ready to win the GC 'last year'. We needed to bring in the vet Collaros to get us there. The chances that McGuire will be able to get us to the cup are slim to none and cup contender is what we all want to be. You're the one who loves to complain. It used to be about what the Bombers were doing, now it's about me not agreeing with you and the other positrons (first time this year... I'm in preseason form). I bring up facts. You whine that I'm complaining. I explain again. You ignore it and whine that I'm complaining, this time with some caps. I agree to disagree. You make up something I didn't say and whine about that. Finally, you go completely off the subject and whine about things I've said or things you think I really meant in the past. I sigh, roll my eyes and try to push the keyboard away. Failing, I answer your tired tirade. Facts: In 2019 we were 4th in the CFL, 3rd in the west. We traded for a vet QB at the last minute. He took us to the GC and won it. Years ago Calgary did the same thing. Based on these facts, we were a mid tier team that got hot in playoffs and won the cup, much like Calgary did all those years ago. No, that doesn't mean we didn't deserve it or that I didn't enjoy it. That's just the story you've made up. Yes we had some luck. Same holds true for all GC winning teams who weren't dominant in the regular season and some who were. Going forward.... We brought back a lot of the GC team. Should that mean we expect to be dominant this year? Some folks around here sure think so, but were weren't last year in the regular season. We're going with a rookie kicker instead of one of the best if not the best in the league and a rookie OC instead of one of the best in the league. We've got an oft injured starting QB who managed 4 starts last year backed up by a 'rookie'. We're replacing a couple of top end DB's. Everyone's a couple of years older and we don't know how that time will affect them. I sure hope we don't get a string of injuries like the Riders got yesterday, but it could happen. Note that none of that is complaining or moaning, but from the Kumbaya, positive thinking, look for the best outcome crowd it must sound like it.
  9. Bomber fans and Rider fans think their teams will be OK if their starting QB goes down based on nothing more than faith and the 'power' of positive thinking. Then they make fun of the other teams fans for thinking that their teams will be fine if their starting QB goes down. The truth of the matter is that most backup QB's fail. Some like Franklin and Jennings fail even after showing great promise. McGuire and other backups around the league haven't even got to the great promise stage. If you don't see that as a huge potential problem, then I can't change your mind. If you read my posts, then why did you ask your question? You always think you're right too. In fact, most if not everyone around here thinks they are right. If my opinions make you feel stupid, that's on you. All rookies are promising until they aren't. All unsigned vets are washed up until they are signed. You value the unknown over the known with issues and I value the vet over the rookie. Let's agree to disagree. The 'power' of positive thinking plus $5 gets you a coffee at Starbucks. Positive thinking shouldn't become a reason to hate folks who use critical thinking. It seems like reading my posts is making you angry. Maybe you should stop reading them.
  10. If you bothered to read what I've been typing, you'd already know the answer, but cuz you likely won't go back. Vet backup QB, not necessarily Jennings, on the IR so their salary doesn't count against the SMS. Activate them if/when Collaros goes down. If VBQB beats McGuire in TC, then flip the roles and McGuire goes on the IR. I'm not in favour of giving anyone a job just 'so they can develop'. Toronto and Hamilton will keep both of their QB's. Ottawa will keep Nichols and Davis. Montreal will keep Adams and Schultz. BC will keep Reilly and Arndt. Stamps will keep BLM and Prukop. Riders will keep Fajardo and Harker. All of those backups have more CFL experience than McGuire. Edmonton is in the same boat as we are.
  11. I don't care if other teams have the same problem. I don't care if other teams ever win, backup QB or not. I'd want a vet backup or at least one with some playing time, on my team. I bring up our lack of success at grooming QB's because it's a big reason to bring in a vet backup and it shows that the odds of McGuire being even serviceable are very low. There is more than one reason to bring in a vet backup QB. I haven't passed judgment on McGuire because I haven't seen enough, good or bad. No one has. Maybe he's a gamer. Maybe he's not. That's not a reason to give him the job and it's not a reason not to bring in a vet backup. It's not about McGuire in particular. I'd say the same thing about any QB with 6 plays on his resume. How can any of us possibly know that McGuire is as good as anyone? The answer is... we can't. We can just hope he's the answer if/when we need him. All I'm saying is don't put all our eggs in the one basket. Bring in serious competition in TC and no it doesn't have to be Jennings. Maybe Franklin could be talked out of retirement. To others who make up things I don't say... It's cool. That's when I know you agree with me but can't bring yourselves to type it.
  12. Better in my mind, but both are good. Nord doesn't work as well in Linux and didn't have working split tunnelling when I used it a few years back.
  13. In the last 3 years McGuire has 0 CFL TD's and has thrown for 17 total yards. Jennings played on Ottawa who only won 3 games in 2019. Some of that is on him, some of it is beyond his control. Jennings doesn't have a huge upside, but he has experience. A rookie QB, which is what McGuire essentially is, won't win us the cup. A vet backup would at least give us a chance. The Bombers have no problems with having vets on the PR. Neufeld has spent a ton of time on the PR over the years while paying him big bucks. It's OK, cuz the money doesn't count towards the SMS. The same thing is true for a vet backup QB. Not bringing Jennings or any vet QB for that matter doesn't mean that McGuire has already beaten them out in the coaches minds. It means the Bombers have made their plan and will stick to it. McGuire's being given the job. Neither of the rookie QB's are around to compete with him. They're extra arms for TC. One might stick around on the PR. They've also given the kicking job to our rookie kicker without any competition. That doesn't mean that Leggo has beaten the vet kickers out there in the coaches minds. It means that Leggo is the first choice and we'll bring in another kicker only if he can't do the job. It's less of a risk because kickers don't need to understand the whole offence to do their job. If/when Collaros goes down, we'll hear about how he won't be down long and how we'll be fine with McGuire. In the background we will start looking for a vet backup and take whoever is available at the time. Maybe that's Jennings, but whoever it is, they won't have the advantage of training camp or knowing the offence. That means they won't be as effective for a game or three. Those games plus the McGuire games could be the difference between a good season and a bust. An insurance QB on the IR would reduce the risk.
  14. Is there a good to great experienced backup QB out there? Nope, but Jennings is probably the best experienced backup QB to bring to TC. If McGuire can't beat him for the #2 spot, then he's not our QB of the future anyway. If/When Streveler becomes available, I'd offer him the #1A spot. In the meantime, Jennings would have a mysterious injury forcing him onto the IR where his salary doesn't matter to the SMS and it allows McGuire to get the #2 QB reps. Reasons: Experienced backup QB who has won and lost games in the CFL. Dude's thrown for 13K yards in the CFL and thrown 69 TD's. Experienced backup QB who knows our system and who is in all the meetings. (Why you bring him to camp) Experienced backup QB who we could instantly put on the roster if/when Collaros goes down. Don't have to bring in a QB who doesn't know the system if/when Collaros goes down. Plan for the worst and hope for the best.
  15. Me too, as long as he's healthy for the cup run, but I doubt that happens.
  16. You can and I will make a big deal about McGuire's lack of experience. Collaros is injury prone. He only played 4 games last year. He's played in18 games twice in his 9 year career, the last time was 2017. Not having any experience behind him is one of our biggest issues. Hamilton's QB situation puts them in the #1 spot at least until the season starts.
  17. I cut the cord years ago. I use the TSN app and Kodi to get what I want to watch. No cable bill, but I need a VPN (3.75/month), Real-Debrid (For quick downloading of TV and Movies $60/Year), and TSN App ($99 each 6 Months). I also have Shaw internet 300 cuz I got it at a great price, but it worked fine on 75 when that's what I had. You also need an Android box which is about $100 one time purchase for a decent one with full 4K output from amazon.ca. If you want to go full legal, you could buy Netflix (US too if you have a VPN), Roku to pick up a bunch of channels and an antenna to pick up local stations ($20 one time, 5 stations in full HD in Calgary).
  18. I don't understand your question. Is it Why would anyone want a VPN or Why would anyone want this particular VPN? Why you'd want a VPN: End to End Encryption. Encrypted DNS. Get stuff that's only allowed in specific countries, like US Netflix. (Note that most of this can be done for free if you know how) Kill switch (stops your internet if you become disconnected). Why you'd want VPN.AC in particular: Fast. Doesn't slow down in the evening (Lots of others do). Wireguard. No logs. No tracking. Works with Real-Debrid. Not owned by a media company. Best pro VPN I've used and I've used: PIA, Nord, SurfShark, Mullvad (Even more secure than VPN.AC, but more expensive) I've also created my own VPN on LINODE which I use when I want to be absolutely sure that no one but me is watching or logging.
  19. Simonise gets chances because you can't teach size and you can't teach passport. He's got both and he's only 26. FTR: I'm not complaining that we let him go.
  20. Please don't use a 'free' or 'built in' VPN. If you're not paying for the product, you are the product. You can buy a good VPN for less than $5 a month (VPN.AC) that won't track your every click. You can also create your own for less than $4 a month if you know what you're doing and then you don't have to worry about anyone tracking you.
  21. Fact 1: The Bombers have only found 1 good (Great except he never won a GC just for Speedy), 1 great (for other teams) and 1 part time starter. Fact 2: I don't care if we ever bring another starting QB into the league because I don't care where they come from as long as they can play at a high level. No, I'm not lamenting our lack of success. I'm pointing out our past lack of success is a fact that should be taken into account when it comes to our expected success. Fact 3: You don't have to watch the CFL as long as I have to understand that inexperienced QB's generally fail. BLM, in Calgary's great system, is an exception to the rule, but if you think that McGuire is an exception based on his preseason play and his 6 play CFL experience, then I think you're fooling yourself. It's not just the Bombers either. Most young QB's never amount to anything in the CFL despite great college success. The one's that do usually take more than a year on the bench before they become successful. 'Those who think he has skills' isn't remotely the same as 'we're going to be OK if he has to start'. I think he has skills, but I don't have any idea and neither do you, if those skills will be enough to win games in the CFL. Lots of young QB's look good in preseason against other teams backups and cuts, running a vanilla offence against a vanilla defence and still don't even become competent backups let alone starters. One in a million was an overstatement on my part. Most likely doesn't mean will happen. Could McGuire be the next one or at 'least hold the fort'? Sure, but how likely is it? Now, how likely is it that a QB with actual CFL starting experience will be able to at least 'hold the fort'? Past events put me on the side of the Vet. Fact 4: I'm not the least bit surprised that people who only ever want to look at the best possible outcomes find me negative. It's always been that way. If I cared about that, I would have left a long long time ago. The Salary cap is a red herring. We can't dress a 3rd QB this year. If we had a vet QB, they'd either be #2 or IR'd to save the SMS hit. It's good insurance IMO. If we don't bring in another QB, then McGuire won't have any vet competition in camp. He'll be competing against 2 Newbies without any CFL experience. If either of them beat him out, then I'll still be worried about our lack of depth behind Collaros. I'd prefer that McGuire compete against an CFL experienced QB for the #2 spot. IMO we're hooped if Collaros goes down again for any length of time unless we bring in a Vet QB. It's an opinion based on logic, reasoning and the facts I've presented. There was no competition for him to win. Everyone knows that you'll be 100% on the GM and Coaches side no matter what they do. You were one of the biggest 'he who should not be named' and Joe Mack fans on these forums until the day they were fired. We arguably have a Grey Cup contender. I'd hate to see that promise wasted trying to bring a young QB up to speed. I don't believe we would have won the cup 'last' year if we had to rely on McGuire and Streveler and I don't believe we'll win one this year if we have to rely on McGuire and Newbie #2. Again I say: Plan for the worst and hope for the best.
  22. It's not one or the other. It's a competition for the #2 spot. Frankly, if McGuire can't beat Jennings for the #2 spot, then he isn't the answer you think he is. Speedy... Facts are facts. They aren't mine and they are alternative or fake. Here's an example from this thread. Fact: Brock never won the GC. Conjecture: Whose to say he couldn't have won if given more chances. Those two ideas aren't equal. One is a fact and the other isn't. Got it now?
  23. I'm assuming based on MOS's comments. I seriously hope they bring in another kicker or two.
