I don't understand your question. Is it Why would anyone want a VPN or Why would anyone want this particular VPN? Why you'd want a VPN: End to End Encryption. Encrypted DNS. Get stuff that's only allowed in specific countries, like US Netflix. (Note that most of this can be done for free if you know how) Kill switch (stops your internet if you become disconnected). Why you'd want VPN.AC in particular: Fast. Doesn't slow down in the evening (Lots of others do). Wireguard. No logs. No tracking. Works with Real-Debrid. Not owned by a media company. Best pro VPN I've used and I've used: PIA, Nord, SurfShark, Mullvad (Even more secure than VPN.AC, but more expensive) I've also created my own VPN on LINODE which I use when I want to be absolutely sure that no one but me is watching or logging.

Simonise gets chances because you can't teach size and you can't teach passport. He's got both and he's only 26. FTR: I'm not complaining that we let him go.
-
Please don't use a 'free' or 'built in' VPN. If you're not paying for the product, you are the product. You can buy a good VPN for less than $5 a month (VPN.AC) that won't track your every click. You can also create your own for less than $4 a month if you know what you're doing and then you don't have to worry about anyone tracking you.

Fact 1: The Bombers have only found 1 good (Great except he never won a GC just for Speedy), 1 great (for other teams) and 1 part time starter. Fact 2: I don't care if we ever bring another starting QB into the league because I don't care where they come from as long as they can play at a high level. No, I'm not lamenting our lack of success. I'm pointing out our past lack of success is a fact that should be taken into account when it comes to our expected success. Fact 3: You don't have to watch the CFL as long as I have to understand that inexperienced QB's generally fail. BLM, in Calgary's great system, is an exception to the rule, but if you think that McGuire is an exception based on his preseason play and his 6 play CFL experience, then I think you're fooling yourself. It's not just the Bombers either. Most young QB's never amount to anything in the CFL despite great college success. The one's that do usually take more than a year on the bench before they become successful. 'Those who think he has skills' isn't remotely the same as 'we're going to be OK if he has to start'. I think he has skills, but I don't have any idea and neither do you, if those skills will be enough to win games in the CFL. Lots of young QB's look good in preseason against other teams backups and cuts, running a vanilla offence against a vanilla defence and still don't even become competent backups let alone starters. One in a million was an overstatement on my part. Most likely doesn't mean will happen. Could McGuire be the next one or at 'least hold the fort'? Sure, but how likely is it? Now, how likely is it that a QB with actual CFL starting experience will be able to at least 'hold the fort'? Past events put me on the side of the Vet. Fact 4: I'm not the least bit surprised that people who only ever want to look at the best possible outcomes find me negative. It's always been that way. If I cared about that, I would have left a long long time ago. The Salary cap is a red herring. We can't dress a 3rd QB this year. If we had a vet QB, they'd either be #2 or IR'd to save the SMS hit. It's good insurance IMO. If we don't bring in another QB, then McGuire won't have any vet competition in camp. He'll be competing against 2 Newbies without any CFL experience. If either of them beat him out, then I'll still be worried about our lack of depth behind Collaros. I'd prefer that McGuire compete against an CFL experienced QB for the #2 spot. IMO we're hooped if Collaros goes down again for any length of time unless we bring in a Vet QB. It's an opinion based on logic, reasoning and the facts I've presented. There was no competition for him to win. Everyone knows that you'll be 100% on the GM and Coaches side no matter what they do. You were one of the biggest 'he who should not be named' and Joe Mack fans on these forums until the day they were fired. We arguably have a Grey Cup contender. I'd hate to see that promise wasted trying to bring a young QB up to speed. I don't believe we would have won the cup 'last' year if we had to rely on McGuire and Streveler and I don't believe we'll win one this year if we have to rely on McGuire and Newbie #2. Again I say: Plan for the worst and hope for the best.
-
It's not one or the other. It's a competition for the #2 spot. Frankly, if McGuire can't beat Jennings for the #2 spot, then he isn't the answer you think he is. Speedy... Facts are facts. They aren't mine and they are alternative or fake. Here's an example from this thread. Fact: Brock never won the GC. Conjecture: Whose to say he couldn't have won if given more chances. Those two ideas aren't equal. One is a fact and the other isn't. Got it now?
-
I'm assuming based on MOS's comments. I seriously hope they bring in another kicker or two.
-
Seriously, I'd take Jennings as a Vet backup prospect. He looked pretty good as a throw deep first QB. He looked pretty bad when he was told to cut down on the mistakes and read the defence. You gotta let Jennings Jenning if you want to use his potential. I don't expect a good to great backup vet QB. Anyone we would hire would have baggage otherwise they'd be a starting QB.
-
That's not the flex you think it is. Lots of folks around here think that their opinion and conjecture is worth more than facts so they try to 'shout' me down. Do I have this right? You're idea is to wait until we need a QB right away before we look for one? Take whoever is available at that moment? You don't think it's a good idea to bring one to camp to compete? Where's the downside to competition? Where's the downside to knowing our offence? If we keep him on the IR, he can be in all the meetings. and be ready to play the day we need him. If Streveler comes back, great, cut the other vet QB. You're a fly by the seat of your pants, non-planner guy. I'm a plan for the worst and hope for the best guy. If it turns out that Collaros lasts the whole season, then we've burned some non-sms cash. If it turns out we need another QB, then having one around from day one is huge. Think of it as insurance if you like.
-
Just ignore me then. I'm wired to look at the most likely outcomes. You're wired to look at the best possible outcomes and to think that any other outcome is negative gloom and doom. It's not, but I'll never convince you so I'll just leave it here. I can't stop the internet cuz you're feelings are getting hurt and I'm not about to change the way I think. Your choices are to ignore it or whine about it. I'm guessing the whining will continue as it has for the last decade or so. You realize that Tait writes uber positive articles for the Bombers, right? I read the article. McGuire seems like a nice kid. It's worth noting that Fajardo had 3 years of experience before he got the call. Arbuckle isn't Ottawa's starting QB, Nichols is. Arbuckle will be fighting it out with MBT for the Argos starting QB spot. I'd rather have Arbuckle than McGuire because I've seen more of him and he's done pretty well. Like who? (Munching on popcorn) If there's a vet QB out there worth bringing in, then bring him in to TC and let him compete against McGuire. That way he has the offence down and he will be ready to go sooner if we have to bring him back later. Heck, we could put him on the IR just to keep him around. You don't worry enough.
-
BLM is the 1 and only example that anyone's given of a QB with McGuire's experience level having a break out year. Everyone who thinks that we'll be fine with McGuire at QB if Collaros goes down is saying it. Everyone who expecting the best case scenario is saying it too. Even comparing McGuire to Streveler, who wasn't ready IMO to take us to the GC last year with considerably more experience than McGuire is hoping for the best despite our history.
-
Of course the best possible outcome is rarely the probable outcome. In other news the sky is blue. Why worry that our backup QB has little to no CFL experience? Because we are likely going to need him to win games for us this year. It's very telling that you look at the probable outcome and call it negative. It means you know I'm right, but you don't want to admit it. Speedy... Tell you what. I'll give you that Brock was a great QB who never found a way to win the big game so we can stop arguing about things that happened 40 years ago and don't have any meaning anymore. Better? How 'bout we talk about the rookie kicker being given the job, the DB situation, the backup QB and the loss of PLAP. At least that's relevant.
-
It's not about 'can't do'. It's about what's most probable and that's not to be a good starting QB if he has to take over from Collaros.
-
No you obviously don't. You know what? I don't care about your spin and I waited as long as you to see the Bombers win a GC again. Last time they won the GC, I was in the stands and on the field afterwards. I don't care how Hamilton acted in your mind or that we shut them up. I do care that we won and that it was a great performance. He was a good starter. He ran up a bunch of passing records and had one of the best arms I've ever seen. He's in the hall of fame for a reason but, we never won a GC with him. We traded for Clements who took Brock's team to the promised land by beating Brock and the Ticats. The big game losses are the difference between good and great IMO. I'll take Clements over Brock every game day. To be fair, I looked up the stats: Evans, Signed 2017, Started 3 games in 2018, took over in week 7 2019, lost the GC. Harris, Signed with Jacksonville, Arizona, Hartford, Buffalo, Orlando in 2011 and Toronto in 2012, Played in 2 games in 2012, played in 1 game in 2013, Started 1 game in 2014, Started the 2015 season due to Ricky Ray's injury, replaced by Ray for the end of the season and the playoffs, 2016 became Ottawa's starting QB. BLM, signed in 2012, first start and break out year in 2013. He played in 5 games and got 3 starts. He's the best example of a young QB becoming a good starter in his 2nd pro season and he got it because both Drew Tate and Kevin Glenn were injured, not because he was the #2 guy. McGuire, Signed with the Bomber in 2019, got 6 plays in one game after the Bombers lost both Nichols and Streveler. Bomber fans expect him to be the next BLM.

You're confused because you're not understanding what I'm typing. We've developed 2 starters and a part time starter at QB in 50 years. Therefore, it's unlikely that our current backup will develop into a starter, especially considering he got like 6 plays of CFL experience in total. It's very likely that he will struggle like most inexperienced QB's if we need to use him. BTW: Unlikely, doesn't mean it can never happen. I don't mind the idea of developing a rookie kicker. I mind the idea of giving our rookie kicker the job without having to earn it by beating out a vet kicker and that doesn't just apply to kickers. Every player should have to earn their place on the team. I guess you haven't been understanding what I've been saying, so I have to say it again (Sorry to everyone else who does understand): We were a 4th overall team, 3rd in the West. We made a great trade for a QB at the last minute of the trade deadline. We had a wonderful playoff run that got us the cup. Our GC win was more like Calgary's cup when they came from 3rd in the West to beat us all those years ago. We got some luck and some bounces, but every team gets those. That's not gloom, doom, fluky or dismissive. It's what happened. I don't have to tell myself that we were a dominant team that was destined to win the cup to enjoy the win, which I very much did.
-
Thanks for pointing out the 1 in a million that worked out. In the last 50 or so years, the Bombers brought in Brock who became a good starter, Danny Mac who became great starter for other teams and Streveler who became a part time starter. Anyone else I'm missing?
-
Sure... Maher and Castillo. Both are known good vet CFL kickers and Lirim being in the spring league doesn't mean we couldn't make him an offer. He's playing for room and board right now.
-
Sounds like a good idea to me. Cheers!
-
Lirim Hajrullahu?
-
Bring in a vet kicker? Anyway, I wasn't complaining about Walters or O'Shea, I was simply saying that losing Medlock is a big hole to fill.
-
Replacing the best kicker in the league with a rookie is a huge downgrade whether you acknowledge it or not. Back to holding my breath on FG tries again.
-
McGuire's thrown the ball 3 times, completed 2, for 17 yards. He also ran 3 times for 9 yards. No one has any idea if he's any good or not yet. If we are forced to start him, my guess is he'll lose way more than he'll win. As for Danny Mac knowing what's up, we've had 1 backup QB, Streveler, show something since he's Danny's been scouting for us. I think you have to go all the way back to Brock to find a starting QB that the Bombers found. BTW: I'm still hoping that Medlock signs with us. If not, that's another potentially huge problem.
-
My concerns: We are betting that our oft injured QB will take us to the promised land again. Nichols and Strev started all but 4 games 'last' year and they're gone. We're likely hooped if Collaros goes down. Rookie OC taking over for PLAP. Rookie anythings make mistakes. Even if Pierce turns out to be a good one, it'll take a while before he gets there. DB's. I actually agree with Taylor on this one. Spits. Everyone will be gunning to beat the defending champs and will try to bring their A game against us.
-
I'd rather we play Ottawa once and the Elks club twice instead of thrice.
-
I got my jab early and I got into the lotto Vax too. It's stupid, but I'll take it if I get lucky. Don't get me started on the 1.3 BULL-Stuff pipeline crap.
-
In Alberta, they're actually having a Lotto Vax to try and convince Covidiots to get vaccinated. Three 1 million dollar prizes available. Once we get to 80% vaccinated, I say let the Covidiots and Anti-vaxxer's get sick and possibly die. We spend way too much time and money trying to keep the stupid folks in the gene pool.
