Getting an extra hour of 2020 is like getting an extra song on a Yoko Ono album. The 'Spanish Flu' pandemic did have mandatory mask use, that's what eventually stopped the 2nd wave. When they lifted the restrictions, the third wave started.

I watched the first 2 'Hard Knocks' last night. A huge part of it is how the NFL is handling Covid-19 this year. With all that they are doing, people are still getting sick and games are being postponed. A really interesting show, give it a try.

When they keep raising the SMS in a gate driven league and they're going down in attendance, they have to raise ticket prices.

Your idea is to have a disgruntled GM in charge of a team and to tell him he can take it or leave it? Sounds like a horrible way to do business to me.

1. They need all 9 teams to be committed to playing. 2. The fans in the stands question is impossible to answer right now. Hopefully they'll be a vaccine and some way to verify that fans have been vaccinated. If not, hopefully a spit test you can get the results in minutes while standing in line. If not, then social distancing and reduced number of fans, which will likely kill the gate driven league anyway. 3 & 4. The CFL and the CFLPA will have a hard time coming to any agreement on contract issues. Personally, I don't see any reason to renegotiate the terms if all 9 teams are playing and they can have full stadiums. Otherwise, owners will want to pay less and players will want to make more. 5. It's non issue that will be handled internally. Players will be signed and re-signed. Bonuses will be paid. This years money is already spent and on a different years SMS. 6. Internationals is a who cares too. They should be included in the SMS, but they don't cost much anyway. Bigger question is are they going to even be allowed to travel to Canada and no one can answer that yet.

I'm surprised how little football talk there is around here. I kinda hoped we'd all pick an NFL team or two to follow and discuss their games considering there's no CFL this year. Maybe the Streveler's. BTW: Mahomes is the QB, I'd choose.

It's always been wrong. Always, always, always. I hate the "we've always done it that way argument'', it's never made any sense to continue to do anything just because we've always done it.

The first 20 minutes was all political crap. A line of millionaires linking arms on the field isn't going to accomplish anything. One team didn't come out for the anthem. Fans booed. The talking heads trying to say something intelligent about politics, when that's not their strength or interest. I totally respect and support their right to protest, but personally, I could do without politics in sports. I preferred the kneeling during the National Anthem because it made the same point, annoyed the Trump-ettes and didn't add any time to the football game. Now that you bring it up, I could do without the National Anthem too. Being proud that you completely randomly happened to have been born on a specific piece of soil has always struck me as silly.

Not a great game, but I have to say, It was great to watch football again. I could do without the political crap and the lack of social distancing in the stands. I wonder if folks watching the NFL this year instead of the CFL will result in more NFL fans and less CFL fans going forward.

It's the only way that Milt, Roberts, Brown, Brock and other great Bombers will ever get their names on the cup.

Not my earliest Bomber memory or my first game, but I became a life long Bomber fan when I was 9 or 10 in '66 or' 67. My team was invited to play at half time of a game because we'd been city champs the year before. 1 quarter, sideline to sideline instead of the full field. 6 teams competing at once. Nothing like making a play and hearing the crowd from the field and I made one. Sure it was probably only family and friends in the stands at half time, but still a big thrill for me. I'll never forget running on to the field or when we had to go back to our end zone seats at the end of the half. I was hooked then and I'm still hooked now.

The year off will certainly help BLM and Nichols. Possibly help Collaros too.

I'm so tired of these apples vs kumquats comparisons. Losing the season sucks, but it's the right decision that should have been made weeks ago.

I guess we need a 2021 thread now.

I don't think that kissing ass means what you think it does. Doing better isn't an argument for changing the name. Changing the name isn't doing better or getting rid of negative connotations. 🙄 It certainly is a tiny effort though. Congrats to you and your kind for getting your way. Changing the name will most certainly result in the end of racism.

Empire is problematic. Eagles works, but is kinda weak IMO. They were the Elk in '22.
