Sure, but these guys will all have multiple offers. If you're a receiver would you want to be in our offence or one that could use your talents and may get you another NFL shot?
-
I don't see our offence as very attractive to a big play receiver, especially with Streveler throwing the ball.

CFL Headlines @CFL_Headlines Alouettes welcome receiver Chris Matthews: The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday having agreed to terms with American receiver Chris Matthews. Matthews (6’5”, 230 lbs.) played in six games for the Winnipeg Blue Bomb
-
Matthews paycheck far outweighed his contribution to the team. Nice to see the Bombers make the decision right before vet cut down day to save the SMS.

You just can't stand me agreeing with you eh? -
Andrew Harris suspended for 2 games

I understand that it's an unregulated industry. Are you suggesting that the company Harris buys from changed their product and that's why Harris got caught? If that's the case every player who is using that supplement is going to get caught if they're tested. -
Andrew Harris suspended for 2 games
TBURGESS replied to blue85gold's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What a **** show. Will definitely cost Harris the next 2 games. Will likely cost him MOP, because the CFL isn't going to put a guy who got caught up for their biggest award. Where did the 'contamination' come from anyway? Did Harris change what he was taking between his last passed test and his failed test? Did he open a new container that was tainted? Cross contamination from something that contained the banned substance? What would that even be? I'm pretty sure I don't have anything on my shelves that contains the banned substance (I can't even remember it's name). MOS stands by all his players. There's no reason to believe that he'd throw Harris under the bus even if he wanted to. The team stays together, especially in the press. There's no reason to believe that they wouldn't stand behind a teammate who got caught. Management knows that Harris is at least half our offence. No reason to believe they'd say anything against their meal ticket. The story is a 32 year old RB who is not only defying father time, but is actually getting better, getting caught taking a banned substance. I wouldn't wonder if he did it for 1 second if he wasn't a Bomber. Put me on Mike's side of the ledger. -
NFL Coming to Winnipeg for Preseason Game
TBURGESS replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The real reason it's yards is because Canada didn't change to the metric system until 1970 and football fields pre-date that. Why it didn't change since then? Who knows? -
NFL Coming to Winnipeg for Preseason Game

I wonder where he even got a T-Shirt like that? Did he print it himself? -
Floyd asked a simple question.. why I like Franklin over Bridge. I answered. You and 17 made up stuff then whined about it.
-
I think Franklin's still got some upside. He's played one more game than Bridge, has 1400+ more yards passing, 8 more TD's and 5 more picks. Franklin's thrown for 3900+ yards in the CFL and has 21 TD's to 13 Int's, so I wouldn't call him a turn over machine. All but 1 of those picks are in the Toronto offence. To me the double clutching comes from not seeing what he expected to see or the receiver not being open. Franklin looked good in Edmonton's offence. Maybe's Toronto's offence is the wrong fit for his skill set or he hasn't fully grasped it yet. In either case, he'll likely get at least 1 more shot because he's had CFL success even after other teams got 'film' on him.
-
I'd take Franklin over Bridge any day of the week and twice on game day. We really don't need another 2nd rounder unless we lose some NI's in the off season, so I'd be happy to offer a 3rd and settle for a 2nd. Franklin wouldn't be pushing for starting time in the first few weeks anyway, so no QB controversy in the near future. I'd be more comfortable at the end of the season if we only lost 1 of Nichols, Streveler or Franklin. All that being said... I doubt Toronto makes the trade anyway.
-
It's no surprise that it came out in the week before Ottawa played Edmonton. It was just Pruneau trying to get into Harris' head before the game.
-
Nope. I'm giving the facts and the facts are that the second half of the season is going to be much tougher than the first half was, even without Streveler at QB.
-
The 7-2 is in a large part because we played the 3 worst teams in the league twice each. That accounts for 5 of our wins. We also played Calgary with their backup QB and Hamilton with their backup QB for 3/4's of the game. The only + .500 team we played with their starting QB was Edmonton. The back 9 doesn't include any teams that are currently below .500 and we will be playing with our backup QB for the next month or two.
-
Franklin's worth more to the Argos than a 4th round pick. He's either #1 or #2 on the depth chart. Getting a 4th rounder doesn't help the Argos now or in the future.
-
Which is it? Wouldn't want to stay on the IR or wouldn't want to play behind that OL? It can't be both. 😎 Franklin was 'the' next big QB a couple of years back. He beat Nichols out in Edmonton, which is why we got Nichols for so cheap. I don't think Franklin's fallen to the #3 spot on the depth chart in Toronto, despite TSN saying all those nice things about MBT. In fact, I'd guess he's still number 1 unless Collaros decides to put his future on the line for one more kick at being a starting QB again. I agree that no one will offer that much for Franklin, so I think he stays where he is. I can't imagine Toronto giving him away for a box of tape and a 4th round pick, even if there's a chance of it moving up to a 1st rounder based on playing time.
-
The Eskies started planning to play against Steveler the minute they saw Nichols point to his throwing arm when he came off the field.
-
Just leave Franklin on the IR if they have SMS issues. Same place that they'll likely leave Collaros for a while. The do need assets to rebuild, but a 4th or 5th round pick isn't much of an asset. Being a garbage fire and out of the playoff picture is no reason to give a QB with upside away for little or nothing. If we offered them a starter and a 1st rounder like we got for Willy, then they'd likely take it but that's more than I'd give up for Franklin.
-
Why would Toronto take that deal? To help us out? Nope.. it would take a lot more than that to get Franklin especially since we just lost our starting QB.
-
Mr. Streveler, your opportunity is now. Make the most of the month or more you have to show that you have what it takes to be a starting CFL QB.
-
Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB Matt Nichols is on the field watching practice. Arm hanging loose at his side. Which does not mean the injury is any less serious. Oshea will share more after practice.
-
Bridge is the best of a very bad group. He can at least run around if needed. Doesn't really matter who we bring in. The season's gone if Streveler can't get the job done.
-
It's mid season so we still have a chance. It's not like a QB getting injured a week before Grey Cup. (Still too soon?)
-
I doubt they contact Glenn if Nichols was only going to be down for 5-6 weeks. It'd take Glenn 2 or 3 weeks just to understand the offence and get back into playing shape.
