NFL Coming to Winnipeg for Preseason Game
TBURGESS replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Now that's some crap right there. The CFL isn't filled with guys who have enough talent to play in the NFL. If they were, they'd play in the NFL for significantly bigger money. Their PR players get more money than most of our starters, their backups make more than that and their starters make huge money. That's how the NFL ends up with the most talented players in the world. All CFL players can do is dream of playing in the NFL and bringing home the big bucks. Look, I love the CFL and I don't watch any NFL until our season is over, but that's because the game itself is better, not because the players are. -
Reilly > Nichols Burnham > Adams except to Winnipeg fans. Carter > Any of our Rookie import pass catchers. If Matthews was starting, then we'd have an edge, but he isn't. Woli/Demski are better than Durant. Still gotta go with BC on this one. Both teams OL's are big question marks.

On paper, BC has a better receiving corps and a better QB. No debate about either.

I'm talking about players who actually make teams, not those who can't make it in either league. The best CFLrs are fringe NFLrs at best and yes.. that's about talent level. -

Keep telling yourself that if you want to be wrong. Every year the best CFL players try out in the NFL and most don't even make the team, let alone become starters. No, it's not cuz they don't fit. It's because they aren't as good. -
Entertaining game. Lots of mistakes = Lots of big plays. Close until the very end. What more can you ask for?
-
Yes. It was a dirty hit. Yes. it was intentional. No. I don't blame Collaros, he slid and protected himself. No. I don't think that any other QB would have just got back up. No. I don't think it was a 'glancing blow'. No. I don't think the CFL is doing enough to protect players in this kind of situation.
-
And.. an average to below average QB on a good team gets credit where it's not really due.
-
Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat.
-
DeVone Claybrooks is also a Stubler protege and Stubler is the DC in BC. I'd say that means that Stubler's defence is not only still in vogue, but one of the best systems in the CFL.

I was wondering who'd be this years player the fans love to complain about. Hecht is winning the 'Sam Hurl' award this year for sure.
-
IIRC it's always been activated, never started.
-
I don't see it as 'stealing'. The Eskimos could have put Roy on their 46 for a couple of games if they really wanted to keep him.
-
If Ottawa and Edmonton are both 8-10, there will be no crossover.

NFL Coming to Winnipeg for Preseason Game

Expecting it to fail and hoping for it to fail are two different things. -
As always... read it in a gloomy Eeyore voice. West: Calgary - Won't win as many as last year. BLM is still the difference maker. They are the best until proven otherwise. BC - Reilly will make a huge difference to a team that just missed last year. The defence will take some time to come together. Win or lose the games will be 36-38. Winnipeg - Losing 3 NI all stars will hurt worse than most think. Nichols doesn't get back to his level of play from 2 years ago. Edmonton - Did a good job of reloading in the off season, but Reilly is a huge loss. Riders - Worst QB in the west behind a make shift OL without Jones' defence to bail them out. East: Hamilton - Lost their OC late in the offseason, but had a replacement in house. Can't see any other eastern team coming close. Ottawa - Lost a ton of good players, but are in the right division. Toronto - Will have QB problems all year long, but they're good enough to stay out of the basement. Montreal - Made some good moves, but not enough to get them out of the basement. WSF - BC beats Winnipeg. Reilly breaks our hearts yet again. WF - Calgary beats BC in a high scoring affair. ESF - Ottawa beats Edmonton. EF - Hamilton beats Ottawa Grey Cup - Hamilton beats Calgary MOP - Masoli MOC - Harris

Fair enough. In any case, they chose Miller and Rush over Simonise.
-
The CFL can only deal with folks who want to buy the club. They don't get to choose them. Quite frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to buy the Als who have been losing money, fans, and most games for years.
-
I took the statement to mean he was the 4th NI receiver, so ranked behind Woli, Demski and Peterman. I see Oliveira as Harris' backup and a FB, not both on the field at the same time. Augustine is on the PR. FB's show MIller and Rush. What I was trying to say was they could have chosen Simonise over Miller if wanted to.
-
Walters said Simonise was the 4th NI receiver (FTR: I don't see the need for 2 FB's, so they could have kept him if they really wanted to). They offered him a PR spot, but he turned it down. As he signed with BC already, sound like it was the right choice for him.

20 and everyone is still on the same page.
-
I don't think any of the media liked Sherman, otherwise they wouldn't be taking turns throwing him under the bus.

Hedging your bets means playing both sides or supporting more than 1 possible outcome. Seeing McGuire as the most likely to succeed isn't hedging your bets.
