  1. I don't get why he was fined. Peter says bring it. Duke brings it and trucks Peters. Just another football play IMO.
  2. You're blaming the lack of 300 yard games on Demski replacing Denmark? How 'bout blaming it on Nichols low completion rate on the deep balls?
  3. Don't believe anything that Rod Pedersen tweets.
  4. Nichols to Stegall wasn't the reason he got 300 yard games last year. Try again.
  5. A few things: Khari got 300 yard games in PLAP's offense. Nichols got 300 yard games in PLAP's offense, just last year. Why is it unfair to expect Nichols to get 300 yard games in PLAP's offense this year? It's not that PLAP doesn't call deep balls, it's that Nichols isn't very good at completing them (17/57 - 29.8%. Masoli 49/101 - 45.8%, Harris 33/89 - 37.1%). If Nichols was as good as Harris, he'd likely have at least 1 300 yard game this year. All losses aren't Nichols fault. Some of the losses, however are. The back to back Riders games are examples. A lot of fault goes to Nichols for those games. All wins aren't because Nichols played great. Some of the wins are. The Ottawa game where he drove us for a TD in OT was one of the wins that he had a lot to do with, although I'd give the game ball to Bighill for the strip that saved it for us. In the 2017 playoff loss, most of Nichols stats were yards after beat down. All Edmonton wanted to do was get out with a win so they played soft zone. No, Nichols isn't the worst starting QB in the league. Yes, Nichols is better than Willy. Neither point makes Nichols better than Masoli or Harris, which is what the original question was. I don't expect Nichols to win games by himself. I don't blame him for all losses. I don't expect him to make zero mistakes. I understand that more risk means a higher chance of picks. That's not the narrative folks. It's just what fans say is the narrative is so they can poo poo it. The real fact is that no one knows how many games Streveler would have won.We might be in the same, worse, or better playoff playoff position if Streveler had started all the games.
  6. We're talking QB's and folks say our QB is better because he won more games. OK, I'll think about that for a second... If either Harris or Masoli were our starting QB, I'd say we'd have won as many or more games this year. Both are better passers. Masoli's a significantly better runner. Neither had a month of bad play in a row. Neither were injured for 3 games. The big one though is that QB play hasn't been the main reason we're winning. Defense won 3 of the last 4 games. We don't rely on our QB winning for us. We just rely on our QB not to lose games via turn overs. Nichols wasn't even up to that bar for a month. If Nichols started for either Ottawa or Hamilton this year, I'd say that they would have won less games. Both those teams rely on their QB's to win games for them and both rely on the deep ball more than we do.
  7. Winning % is a team stat, not a QB stat. I'll take inconsistent with a higher top end over consistently mediocre (This year) Can't say Nichols is clutch considering he hasn't won a playoff game for us yet..
  8. Passing Yards: Harris 4849, Masoli 4966, Nichols 2788. QUAR: Harris 73.7, Masoli 84.9 , Nichols 69.0 Pass Effic: Harris 97.7 , Masoli 102.8, Nichols 69.7 300 Yard games this year: Harris 10, Masoil 12, Nichols 0
  9. You can keep Manziel, but I'd take either Masoli or Harris over Nichols.
  10. I was hoping you meant it when you said you were going to ignore me. Actually, if you had any reading comprehension, you'd know by now that I'm talking about QB play, not team wins.
  11. Same thing. Different title.
  12. Yup. I treated my folks very well. Gave them a lot of personal responsibility. Helped them when they needed it. Got outta their way when they didn't. I did well in 360's.
  13. FTR: That's what I said in my post. Trying to get your post count up?😀 If it's his first offense, I doubt the Riders or the League do anything about it. He says he's sorry and pays his fine. If this isn't his first offense, he calls himself an Alcoholic, which is a disease, so his employers have to try and help him. Can't fire him. (I stupidly hired an Alcoholic because their ex-boss gave them a glowing review. Took almost a year to get rid of them, then they wanted me to give them a glowing review to get back on their feet.)
  14. I was wrong, so I admitted I was wrong, like I always do. You, with your stupid tag line, ought to know that.
  15. FTR: He wasn't driving, he was sleeping behind the wheel on the side of the road with the vehicle running. Same charge as if he was actually driving.
  16. Don't blame me for your lack of reading comprehension. Blame your teachers. You don't even seem to understand what 'my narrative' is.
  17. If MOS had decided to start Streveler for the Montreal game and going forward, would the fact that he won 3 or 4 of the games mean that Streveler was obviously the best QB on the team? Would you say he was great because we won?
  18. Nichols was losing us games a month ago. Wins are what matters. That's not the same as wins are because the QB played well or that wins mean the QB played well.
  19. The old give the QB credit for team wins argument. You think that we'd have lost the Montreal, Edmonton or Regina games with Streveler at QB? That they have better completion %'s and 300 yard games. Wins are a team stat.
  20. I'm not saying that Nichols is a ridiculously poor QB either, just an average one that's not the difference maker folks seem to think he is. 1. You're right about the number of rushing attempts. I was comparing Harris to Powell straight up. I didn't take into account the rest of our running game. Running the ball will hurt Nichols gross numbers, but it doesn't effect his QUAR or %'s. In fact, a good running game should make it easier to throw the ball. 2. I wasn't cherry picking. I was basing my second point on my first, which it turns out is wrong because I didn't take anyone but Harris vs Powell into account. Nichols is 7th in yards per game passing. 9 QB's have 300 yard games this season, so it's not a Nichols vs Harris argument. 3. No Streveler doesn't have any 300 yard games in his 3 starts as a raw rookie. Who'd expect him to? 4. PLAP calls deep balls about 15% of the time, which is lower than OC's who have QB's with higher completion rates. Nichols has 57 deep balls on 359 throws with a completion rate of 29.8%. Is that because PLAP doesn't just doesn't like the deep ball or because Nichols doesn't complete enough of them? 5. Short field = defensive win, not QB excellence. 6. Nichols is in a system designed for him and he didn't even win a playoff game in '16 or '17. Reilly, Harris, Mazoli, Bethal-Thompson and Jennings all have better completion %'s than Nichols and 300 yard games this year. All of them aren't in short, high completion offenses.
  21. You extrapolated incorrectly. You doubled his first half stats and completely ignored his 3rd quarter stats. You included the 72 yarder which is very unlikely to have happened a second time in the game to juice your conclusion. When a QB throws bad INT's he deserves the blame. When he throws for 150-200 yards, his defense scores, gives him 5 turn overs, short fields and his backup scores more points than he does, he doesn't deserve most of the credit. The comparison of Nichols and Streveler certainly doesn't work for your side. You can't compare the raw numbers, but the QUAR and percentages are still valid. Does Streveler win the Montreal, Edmonton and Regina games if he starts? I'd say it's most likely because none of those games were won by our QB. That leaves Ottawa, Nichols best game of the year. I give him full credit for that one.
  22. And yet you just keep on whining about it and making these threads go on longer. 🤣 We don't only have negative posts after losses. We don't have only positive posts after wins. (Did you read that slow enough, or do you have to go back to the beginning and read it again) Mr. Dee... I'm ecstatic that Streveler, Peterman and LaFrance got the 4th quarter. That's a great way to give them useful reps. I'm happy and somewhat surprised to see that MOS actually let some backups play and saving some of our best players from injury. However, that's not the point at all.
  23. A win means that no one can say anything negative? What a crock. It's not the folks who look at both sides who are the problem. It's the folks to whine about folks not just seeing the positives that cause these threads to go on and on and on. Just ignore those who disagree with you and everyone will get along better.
  24. Cuz one play tells you everything about a QB. 🙄 You think Nichols would have done any better without Harris and Dressler?
  25. I didn't like Nichols silly walk any more than I liked Jefferson's taking the long way to the end zone. I'm a 'pretend you've been there before and are going back' kind of guy.
