  1. Wolo's been pretty good so far, but he's no deep threat and Walters certainly needs to do better bringing in import receivers. That doesn't change the fact that we'd likely be a better offense if we had more Imports on it and we'd likely be a worse defense if we had more non-imports on it.
  2. Nope. It's facts.
  3. The D has 11 imports + DI's to make Hall look better than he really is. We use almost all our NI's on offence, which makes PLAP look worse than he really is. We're still leading the league in points for.
  4. I think the bye week comes at exactly the right time for us. We should get a couple of big name players like Dressler and Hardrick back. Guys with injuries who haven't been practicing like Harris will benefit too. IF we choose to start Streveler (Not likely IMO), we have time to make some tweaks to the plays to give him the best chance to succeed. We come back against one of the worst teams in the league which should help our confidence.
  5. I'd start Streveler next game. He didn't do much more than Nichols, but then again, I don't expect as much from a rookie QB as I do from an 8 year CFL vet. Nichols threw 5 picks in a half, mercifully, 2 were taken off the board due to penalties. Streveler threw 2, one of which was on a 3rd down when he was being hit.
  6. If it was Reilly, a great deep ball QB, to Duke, a noted 50-50 receiver, in that situation, then it would have a much better chance of success. It wasn't. It was Nichols, who doesn't have the best arm and doesn't throw the deep ball accurately to Washington, a rookie receiver trying to make his 2nd CFL catch. Nichols has the experience. He should know his own limitations. He should know not to throw into double coverage, especially to an untested rookie. I'll stick with bad decision and bad throw as the major causes of the INT.
  7. If the receiver doesn't attempt a 1 handed catch the DB picks it anyway. If he goes up with 2 hands, maybe he gets both hands on the ball, maybe he doesn't. If the QB doesn't throw high into double coverage, no chance of a pick.
  8. Our QB throws the ball high and outside into double coverage. Our receiver makes a nice move to even get a hand on it and folks blame the receiver? Then they go on to blame PLAP. SMH.
  9. That was true when I was a kid, but the only folks I see in school playgrounds in the summer these days are softball players with a few beers. I haven't seen any kids in any playground or school zones for the entire summer.
  10. You'd love Calgary then. Stupid 30 playground zones in all schools zones all year long until 9 PM. No kids anywhere near the the schools after school hours or in the summer. I've got no problem with slowing down during school hours, when there is actually a problem, but I chafe at slowing down when there aren't any kids around because it's not helping anyone... it's just annoying the drivers who start to ignore the signs. Calgary's also talking about changing all side streets to 30K all the time. It will cost 2-5 Million to change the signage, but it will bring in millions in speed zone ticket revenue yearly. BTW: Last year, 2 people were killed on side streets with the current speed limit and there's no guarantee that this will fix anything at all.
  11. How well Nichols did last year or the year before doesn't really matter anymore. It's what he did last week and the week before that's more relevant.
  12. We lost cuz our QB threw high and behind into double coverage. We lost because they ran a punt back for a TD. We lost because they mostly blocked a FG. All that in the first half when we dominated the game, the yards and the TOP, while holding them to about 100 yards of offense. We lost because we went 2 and out a couple of times in a row when we needed a drive. We lost because we covered the 3 yards they needed, but ignored the deep ball. We lost because our QB threw an 8 yard out badly resulting in another pick, when we needed to go down the field. We lost cuz of a busted coverage that resulted in a TD.
  13. What a crock of crap! You take a post about why folks are so angry these days and turn it into a childish, trolling, tired, cliche'd personal attack. I guess you upped the ante because I ignored your last post calling me a troll. FTR: Troll doesn't mean 'disagrees with you'. I've been a fan of the Bombers for more than 50 years. I've cheered for them through thick and thin. I've seen them win and lose Grey Cups on TV and in person. I've had seasons tickets in 3 different cities. I've been on these boards for as long as some of them, like this one, have even been around. I'm happy to discuss both the good and the bad. I wouldn't do these things if I wasn't a fan or didn't enjoy it. To me being a fan isn't all sunshine and lolly pops, singing kumbaya around a campfire, Unicorns farting rainbows, and everything is really really great no matter how the team is playing. I leave that to the Susie Sunshine's around here. It's almost game time, so I'll crack open a wobbly pop, put my jersey on and push myself away from the keyboard. Hopefully we win, but I'm not counting on it. No matter what tho, I'll be back later today or tomorrow to discuss the game, cuz that's what this fan does.
  14. I see a fan base who thought this team was way better than it's turning out to be. We beat some bad teams and believed that we were the second best team in the league, some folks even thought that Calgary wasn't that big a deal anymore. Now that we've played a couple of +.500 teams and we've seen where we really stand, those fans are beginning to realize that we aren't as good as they thought we were. That's where the anger comes from. If we lose today, and that's a real good possibility IMO, these sites will be full of anger, hate and sadness as well as calls for patience and hope. We've already gone from talking about hosting a playoff game to just making the playoffs and see what happens.
  15. Don't mistake patience for progress either. O'Shea isn't an inexperience HC anymore. He's in his 5th year. It's way past time to take the training wheels off. Everyone around here knows that Hall should have been gone after last year at the very latest. Mike 'Mr Loyal' O'Shea kept him on anyway. Is that patience or stupidity?
  16. Milt apologizes: Listen to the whole thing here: https://globalnews.ca/news/4413881/milt-stegall-apologizes-to-winnipeg-blue-bombers-qb-matt-nichols/ Doesn't sound like Milt thinks he's wrong about Matt's comments, just that Matt didn't outright throw his receivers under the bus. Kinda like the way Westwood apologized to the Riders for calling them Banjo Playing Inbred's because most couldn't play the Banjo.
  17. We've all read exactly what he said. It's not about that. It's about how people interpret what he said. It's about saying anything at all that could be misconstrued and it's about making that same mistake two weeks in a row. Better just to say mea culpa then go out and play football.
  18. Honestly, stop pumping the defenses tires. They didn't keep us in the game by playing great. BLM missed wide open receivers and the Stamps had some drops in the first half. They fixed that in the second half.
  19. Still not PLAP's fault. PLAP puts receivers in a position to be successful. After that it's up to the players to make the plays.
  20. I think he meant it wasn't hard for Walters to sign Harris because he wanted to come home.
  21. Plap? Folks are blaming PLAP? Adams was wide open, behind everyone. A great aggressive play call. Excellent execution by everyone except Nichols. 1 yard deeper pass and it's a big play. 2-10 yards deeper and it's a TD. A turning point in the game IMO. We went away from the run because Nichols and Demski got stuffed by a very good Calgary defense. Anyone want to guess what would have happened if we kept running the ball? My guess is more of the same. Receivers got open. Nichols either missed them or didn't throw to them. That's not on PLAP.
  22. Whoopdedoo. Just making the playoffs isn't good enough for year 5 of the regime, especially a cross over.
  23. Matt "Not my fault" Nichols tried to throw his receivers under the bus in his post game interview, but was short, so they'll all forgive him. Mike "I have to look at the film" O'Shea is really happy that he kept Richie "Scapegoat" Hall in the off season, cuz now he has someone to blame at the end of the year. The best play of the game was when Streveler threw to Ryan "How do you like me now" Lankford for the big TD.
  24. Playing hurt is fine as long as he's not doing additional damage and he's playing well enough for us to win most games.
  25. Congrats on your weight loss. Sorry about your surgery complications. I still don't agree that it's fat shaming, but I understand why you do.
