  1. More info has come forward and it really shouldn’t be considered an infection in school. The student arrived at school on the first day without symptoms. Was contacted by public health they she was a close contact and needed to be tested. Really to me it shows that the systems in place are working correctly and as designed.
  2. I am assuming that is a shot at me. You can feel however you want but many of your rants are so hypocritical that it is hard to find any logic to them. How many cases/ clusters in Western Canada can be traced back to poor choices made by people from or visiting Alberta? How many cases in Kelowna were traced back to a single infected woman from Calgary that didn’t stay home for Canada Day? Yes, YWG doesn’t have much in the way of direct international flights but after the first month of repatriations how much did passenger traffic did Calgary handle? I just can’t get passed your ranting about the back to school plan and how at risk you as a bus driver were going to be and then a week in to school the only CMOH you will listen too is your own. I really have to wonder if your disbelief / trust of Dr Tam doesn’t come from some other place than her handling of Covid-19.
  3. A couple of things, Dr Tam has been at the forefront of the federal response. Had her messaging changed? Of course it has, as more has been learned about C-19 messaging should have change. Are you involved in random sexual encounters outside your normal bubble? That is what her suggestion about masking during sex was referring too. Also a message the echos something Dr Bonnie Henry of BC said weeks ago. Alberta has been one of the biggest **** shows the entire pandemic. Why you would believe that CMOH over any other is beyond me. You were very critical of the Alberta return to school plan yet want to believe that same CMOH over Dr Tam??? Wow... just wow!!!
  4. From what I understand any resident of a PCH or other long term care facility that tests positive is immediately moved to hospital to prevent spread. This isn't a true indication of how much care they need while there. Truly a proactive step to prevent the outbreaks from growing. Is there data to suggest it has been the same person? I don't think they report details on individual cases, many have been in ICU for short stints and then back to a care ward. Received news this morning that a friend from Iowa's wife was admitted to hospital this morning and is receiving O2 and IV fluids due to Covid. She's a nurse in a private DR's office, sounds like a positive patient came in last week and now most of the office including the DR are now positive.
  5. The struggle is not yours alone, you should have all of us to help you through it. As you have us numerous times in the past when we have needed help.
  6. Northern case is tied to a Prairie MTN Health known cluster. Testing was voluntary. As Mark indicated they were invited to come test and these numbers are not beyond what they expected to find. @Mark H. my thoughts and best wishes are with you and all your communities. Thank you for your many contributions to our combined COVID response.
  7. I’m not sure if this has been reported here but Monday during Dr Roussin’s regular briefing he stated that people being tested without symptoms or too soon to symptom onset is producing false negative results. He stated that the ideal time for testing was 24 hrs after symptom onset. They are predicting that by the end of August that they will have tested 10% of the population and figure it gives an accurate picture of the spread.
  8. I am not 100% sure but as I understand that was the threshold for the $1200 payout. Over $100 000 got more... They have also added all kinds of other smaller packages including one for livestock producers that paid a certain amount / head of cattle etc.
  9. I can tell you I have never disliked Alberta and growing up used to visit family every summer and I looked forward to it all year. Now Albertans have been so self centred and not caring about others I have been forced to change plans to visit family and friends in BC. Smaller communities are so fed up with Albertans that they aren’t welcoming of any visitors right now. F U Alberta!!!
  10. For those curious as I was I searched a bunch of past updates for hospitalization numbers. May 22nd is the most recent I found with 1 person in hospital, May 23 is reported as 0 in hospital. If there were any hospitalizations during the time since they were on any of the days I sampled and I don't have time to check them all.
  11. I am curious (although not enough to check) when the last time we had someone in hospital with Covid 19. Memory tells me May but I could be wrong.
  12. Couple more ice cream adventures. Dug and Betty’s is just excellent. No other way to put it. Top quality ice cream with generous portions. Sour cherry with dark chocolate is my new favourite, the pistachio does not disappoint. Tonight tried Sweet Annie’s for the first time. Bus stop out front, routes 19 and 50. It’s about a block North of Fermor on Westmount (South side is Beaverhill). Generous portions and the option of some baked treats as well. Both Vegan and Keto dessert options available. We’ve completed our list of new to try, anyone else have a “secret” favourite place?
  13. The Mr Mike’s here in the Peg was a lousy representation of the brand. I am surprised the franchisee didn’t get booted.
  14. Took the drive out Hwy 44 to Beausejour yesterday. I’d been hearing some buzz about a new place that was very Celiac friendly and wanted to try it. Colin’s House opened about 7 months ago and is owned by 2 Colins that have plenty of experience in the biz. Menu is small and tight but everything we had was superb. Some basic items have a little fine dining touch at the same time the triple cooked fries had my seven year declaring them better than McD’s... If you are in the mood to drive farther than Jonesy’s you should check out Colins House. Then walk up the street to the DairyBar (don’t eat the crap at the Dairy Bar)... https://www.colinshouse.com/
  15. It’s too bad you don’t drive. Golf Central on Plessis South of Duglad Rd is excellent Probably half the price of BDI and better. Dug and Betty’s in St B is superb as well, corner of Marion and DesMeurons. Of course if you get a chance for a road trip go to the Dairy Bar in Beausejour for dipped and rolled cones. (More on dining in Beausejour in a minute) Sub Zero has new owners again and is back to being decent. They were even doing online orders for pick up via Door Dash.
  16. I’m not sure what people you know in OK have to do with me having a reaction to someone coming from Arkansas and possibly spreading the virus. My reaction to their presence in WPG was 100% Covid related and not political at all. I would venture to guess that with the exception of any members living in the USA I have more daily interaction and have more American friends than anyone here. As a Canadian it what truly surreal to be in the USA on the day Trump was sworn in and the cheers that sounded throughout the trade show I was at as he took the oath. I likely have more republican friends than dems and know we employ both as well. To judge individuals based on political beliefs is likely the most unCanadian thing I have ever seen here. The idea that we have members that have never had a personal interaction with an American judging an entire nation based on media is absurd. My original comment was meant to demonstrate how the virus and the handling of it in different areas has caused a visceral difference in how I reacted. Something we likely all need to be mindful of as we move forward in this new normal. I feel like we’ve become more judgy when really we need to be more understanding.
  17. Normally when I see a licence plate from out of country I’m kind of excited “I wonder what brought them here???” Today I saw and Arkansas plate and wanted to berate him with “Go the F Home!!!”
  18. I’ll try that from my laptop in the morning. Couldn’t get that option on my iPhone.
  19. Tuesday at Jonesy's Monterey Chicken and Chicken Parm.
  20. Had our first dinner out since March 13th last night. Had to be Jonesy’s in Birdshill. Was a great dinner and very good experience. (one of these days I’ll figure out how to post pics on this forum. )
  21. Sorry I missed this earlier. I bought a Weber Performer Deluxe charcoal grill from Luxe about a month ago. Have been using it 3 to 4 times a week. Best burgers and steaks I’ve ever made. Not to mention the crispy wings. The performer has a propane ignition for the coals. Gets you cooking real fast. I say do it. If you don’t want to spend that much I’d at least get a Master Touch model has some nice accessories included and comes in blue...
  22. Do you have a source for this? In Manitoba it has been confirmed that not a single case has been in a first nations community.
  23. I look at it this way. There is more to Public Health than just Covd-19. People being injured or killed due to violent protests are just as critical to public health and should be tried to be prevented as much as the spread of Covisd-19 is. The cause is important and could likely be viewed in itself as trying to reduce another public health crisis that has been ongoing for decades/ centuries. Preventing racially motivated death needs to be considered as if not more important than the spread of disease. Need to balance the scale, the threat of a group spreading the virus that is rarely fatal in their demographic vs violent protest causing injury/death and destruction. CFL fans aren't likely to riot and cause injury/death and destruction if games aren't played.
  24. I agree but Unions...
  25. I believe the agreement reached with some negotiating units was reported as 5 unpaid days off this fiscal year.
