  1. Make that 17...
  2. Thank you, I guess I never noticed before. Possibly this year I was watching closer due to the new supplier.
  3. Let me start by saying please forgive me if this has already been discussed somewhere. I looked and couldn't find it. Are there new uniform rules for this season? I understand the change is to New Era but do teams only have 1 uniform? Just this week we saw Sask and Mont wearing whites at home. The Calgary/ B.C. game had both teams in colours. Does anyone know? Has this been discussed?
  4. If the salary cap only goes up $50k where does the money for the extra roster spot come from? Essentially a cap decrease, no? None of the experienced players can be happy that the base goes up and their salary will have to go down to accommodate. Unless I am missing something I just don't get how this is good for anyone but ST players and American rookies.
  5. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Previoulsy bought the franchise as a distressed sale, called it the Concordes. Eventually rebranded as the Allouettes but still failed before 87. Dad From Wikipedia: Bronfman held various positions in the family's liquor empire, Seagram, from 1951 to 2000. In 1951 Bronfman's father Samuel Bronfman gave Charles a 33% ownership stake in Cemp Investments, a holding company for him and his 3 siblings which controlled the family's corporate empire. Under the leadership of Charles and brother Edgar, it controlled billions of dollars in liquor, real estate, oil and gas, and chemical companies.[3] Bronfman and his brother, Edgar, inherited the Seagram spirits empire in 1971 after the death of their father, Sam Bronfman. Bronfman is a former Co-Chairman of the Seagram Company Ltd. On the demise of the company: "It was a disaster, it is a disaster, it will be a disaster," he says. "It was a family tragedy."[2][4] Bronfman was also well known for his forays into professional sports. He was majority owner of the Montreal Expos franchise in Major League Baseball from the team's formation in 1968 until 1990. In 1982, a day after the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League collapsed due to financial troubles, Bronfman bought their remains and used them to start a new franchise, the Montreal Concordes. This venture proved far less successful – despite later rebranding the team as the Alouettes, the team folded prior to the start of the 1987 CFL season. Since 1986, he has served as Chairman of The Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, Inc.[2] He plans to close the foundation in 2016.[5] From November 1997 until July 2002, Bronfman was the Chairman of the Board of Koor Industries Ltd., one of Israel's largest investment holding companies. He is the co-chairman of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. From 1999 to 2001, Bronfman was the first Chairman of the United Jewish Communities, the merged North American organization comprising United Jewish Appeal, the Council of Jewish Federations and United Israel Appeal. In April 2013, Bronfman was one of 100 prominent American Jews who sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urging him to "work closely" with Secretary of State John Kerry "to devise pragmatic initiatives, consistent with Israel's security needs, which would represent Israel's readiness to make painful territorial sacrifices for the sake of peace."[6]
  6. It was Paul Friesen that he said it too, we’ve all wanted too just he did it with the cameras on. Wheels can’t avoid that he didn’t solve the problem that the C on his chest indicates he should thought.
  7. At least he isn't Kane, 39PIM in 4 games including 16 last night. I don't so much as have a problem with the penalties themselves it is when he takes them. Seems like it is always right at the end of a period giving them an extra boost to start the next. Myers has 2 minors this series, Scheif and Perreault each have 4, they are going to happen just need better than 78% penalty killing.
  8. As good as CSW played last night, do we not need to in a few face offs? Schief at 33% and Wheeler filling in at 0% ? I loved the 2nd and 3rd periods but it shouldn’t have been that close. We need to win some O-zone face offs and control that play a little more.
  9. Has been the busiest bar night of the year as far back as I can remember. The one up at The Pal used to start about 7. So glad that part of my life is over and I can just go home after the game ends.
  10. I am not sure why you would think this. Valour FC is owned by the Winnipeg Football Club and stadium revenues always benefit the Winnipeg Football Club. The WFC assets include the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Valour FC and the Lease of IGF. Anything that happens at IGF that is not UofM related is revenue for WFC.
  11. NLL 12 team league, third highest attendance of any indoor sporting league behind only NHL and NBA, $400 000 USD soft salary cap. $34 000 for a "franchise player" What about the new Canadian professional soccer league, what do their guys make? Independent Baseball ie Winnipeg Goldeyes. Any of these guys would be over the moon with $70 000. Or compare it to anyone getting paid to do what they love, many would love to be able to make $70 000 a year. I can't even fathom why I bothered to reply but your logic was so circular I was getting dizzy.
  12. Exactly my thoughts too. Like Lemieux's fire but the more I read about Hayes the more I like the sound of this deal. Let's just hope he can develop some chemistery with the guys real fast.
  13. In Sask to avoid talking about the Riders they are pumping media stories about vanity plates... https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vbw79x/no-one-can-stop-assman-from-turning-his-truck-into-a-giant-vanity-plate
  14. Pure F’en Gold. Can’t believe I haven’t seen that before.
  15. Exactly this. Had a chance to meet him and chat last month. All he wants to to is play and contribute. Has the hunger in his eyes. Not saying I think he has what it takes to be an everyday NHLer but he has more hunger than some more talented, larger players exhibit.
  16. I ran in to him out for dinner last Friday and had this very conversation. He’s an RFA but is hungry to be a starter in this league. Feels he has the game for it and is ready. Only slight against would be he like to hang out with Petan...
  17. I just found a copy of that this summer, cleaning out my mom's house.
  18. Drew Wolitarsky

  20. Going way out on that limb again... Kenbrell Thompkins
  21. 4 teams have yet to play within their own division. Is it just me or is that insane? I understand the desire for late season battles but...
  22. Andrew Harris
  23. Not sure how to imbed the tweet from the side bar but 3Down Nation reporting that Jones lost it on the crew at practice today. http://3downnation.com/2018/07/17/davis-no-reinforcements-chris-jones-turns-riot-act-motivate-riders/ I don't know who this Darrell Davis guy that has been covering the Riders for 20 years is but there is no way he grew up in Sask. In four games Saskatchewan’s offence has scored four touchdowns. Thigpen’s major rewarded an excellent performance by Saskatchewan’s defence and special teams, but hasn’t assuaged concern for an offence missing its starting quarterback (Zach Collaros, who has a concussion) and inexplicably alternates journeyman Brandon Bridge and rookie David Watford in his stead. That use is language and grammar is just unheard of in the gap.
  24. Except Duron Carter (SK D)
