  1. Shades of 1987 when Hawrchuk was taken out. Funny how history repeats itself. In this case it actually benefits Winnipeg to just fold the tent and hope for the best in the Lafreniere sweepstakes. They have no hope now whatsoever even if they find a way to beat these Calgary bums.
  2. Chevy has those Buff dollars to spend...go get us some quality D men....
  3. Definitely looked like the first period of a team who hasn't played in a long time
  4. Looks like not much.... Hard to get excited with no fans in the stands.
  5. Favorite - Joe Poplawski. And Milt of course. Least - have to go with EJ Kuale. What a bum. And Brian Jack.
  6. I was at the first day of training camp for the 2009 season. Mike Kelly. It was actually pretty entertaining. Darrell Hackney had just arrived and he looked like the Michelin Man. He could really toss the football though.
  7. I still have that game on my PVR....
  8. He forgot the 8 sacks and the five Willie Jefferson pass knock downs lol
  9. I don't know why this post made me laugh and cry at the same time....
  10. hey hey yeah I figured as much, the guy who played that character on Air Farce died in 2004. But hey, someone here remembered "Fernwood 2 Night" when Fred Willard passed away so I thought that I would take a shot...
  11. Moving tribute today to the Snowbirds by the local First Nations in Kamloops.
  12. Snowbird crash out here in the Okanagan. Very sad. Sounds like one fatality for sure.
  13. I remember Fred Willard best from his show he did with Martin Mull, Fernwood 2 Night.
  14. I agree. I may have gotten my rants confused but I was sure that it was during the 1987 game because it was such a good one, with end to end action, and was therefore used as a platform for Lanky to criticize the haters. Boy I do miss old Don Whitman...
  15. You are partially correct. The CFN was created that year when CTV didn't renew their contract, but CBC did also broadcast some games that year, including the Grey Cup game (CFN also broadcast the game as well, and I believe they were the ones broadcasting into the US for ESPN), with Don Whitman and Ron Lancaster as the broadcasting team for the CBC. I was able to find the "rant" on Youtube, but it wasn't as bad as I thought or remembered. I do remember Lancaster getting in hot water from the media the next day, saying that his commentary marred one of the best Grey Cups ever played. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7gdJKcLakY EDIT - the Lancaster comment is around the 50 minute mark in the above video.
  16. I remember Ron Lancaster going on a rant while doing the color during the 1987 Grey Cup game I believe, on the CBC telecast (back then they simul-broadcast the game on both CTV and CBC). He might have been drunk. He lambasted all the critics of the CFL, in Don Cherry-esque fashion. I remember agreeing with him, but also thinking that it wasn't the time or place for it. Anyone else remember that? Speedflex? He got a lot of flak for it, and I don't think ever did another Grey Cup game again.
  17. That part where Suits hands the play-calling over to Keith, who has no idea what is going on and is probably watching his first CFL game ever, is just the definition of cringe. Keith is just a deer in headlights, understandably, and it's just painful. I really don't know what they were thinking, but I don't think much thinking was going on. "Let's put an Australian who has never watched the CFL before in the booth with Suits and Cuthbert and let the magic just happen". Probably as far as it went. Total trainwreck, that was 100% predictable.
  18. I did too, except for maybe the cringe-worthy Keith Urban in the booth moments in the 3rd quarter. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired. Please let it be Rod Black...
