  1. I don't know what you are saying, but here's what I am saying: Free speech is incredibly important. As Jim Carrey says, too many people have paid for this right in blood. We can review it to ensure that we get it right, but the bigger picture is so important. People should have the right to say what they think. We lose that, we lose everything.
  2. agree 100%. All Trump did was kick the can down the road. The Depression that is coming now will be way worse than it would have been had Trump not been elected.
  3. if they have someone worth voting for, I agree. If they don't, it's going to be a tough slog.
  4. And once again, I disagree. We all have opinions, and we should state them freely. If there is "hate" expressed, it shouldn't be tolerated. But also, just because you are posting something that someone else disagrees with, that doesn't make it "hate". It just means they have a different opinion.
  5. Right. I agree. Words matter. I am in full agreement that there is no place for hate speech. Just like the electoral college in the US, perhaps there should be some changes to the US First Amendment to be more like Canada in this regard, in how we don't tolerate hatred. I support that 100%. Perhaps we're just not understanding each other. I'm pretty passionate about free speech. I see it potentially disappearing, for a lot of wrong reasons that I don't agree with. That's just me.
  6. I just don't like Nazis or communists. The fact you guys seem to be offended by that I find telling.
  7. oh good Lord, now you are making this crap up. This is just disgusting. I really really am disappointed in you guys. This is just plain awful, to even think that I equate these two words, and then to spin it this way to try and push your Orwellian doctrine, is truly the lowest of the low. I am truly nauseated by the horrible things I am seeing on display here from certain people. As I said, I think that people should be punished for using such language to demean people, but to kill the First Amendment, that's just so awful. One day, when the thought police are beating down your door, I hope you remember that you were a part of the group that wanted it this way.
  8. no, not really totally right. But it's not exactly a level playing field around here so....
  9. Thanks for that post, and it makes good points. Perhaps the US system does need an overhaul. But do it now. It's too late to change 2016. This is like saying that the Bombers should be awarded the 2007 Grey Cup. It's over guys. Change the rules to allow instant replay, and now reffing mistakes that cost us that game are caught. Fair ball.
  10. of course I was, there was a direct correlation to the 2016 election, which was obvious. Stop doing it, and we're good.
  11. I don't like Nazis, or Communists. What the heck is wrong with you? Yup, you really have no filter. Yup. If you honestly think I am defending "Nazis' (whatever that even is any more) then you have passed trolling, and have gone into the lunatic zone. I didn't do that at all, just wow! is all I have to say in response to these continual attacks. Just wow.
  12. exactly. Just wow.
  13. so no, of course not. That person should not be doing such things, and should be punished for it, for sure. But to just ban the First Amendment because of this one scenario, is like chopping off your head because you have a toothache. It's nonsensenical. So what is your position exactly? Do you seriously want to throw away free speech? Because I find that just abhorrent. And so would Eric.
  14. I will wear this post like a badge of honor, given it's coming from Captain petty insults Mctrolly. And believe me, you passed "beyond acceptable" a long time ago.
  15. Look, I can cut and paste from Wikipedia too! Looks like the US has a problem with Communists too...yikes. I guess it explains the objection to calling a large chunk of the DNC communists. What's that expression about protesting too much? Explains a lot. Many very fine people to go around I guess.... 16. is the person using the N word also a person of colour? And why use such an extreme example? Talk about missing the entire point. On purpose.
  17. Actually I was talking about the Canadian election. I assume you were being deliberately obtuse.
  18. especially if you're a Democrat.
  19. not picking a fight with anyone.
  20. I thought you just said that Hillary was irrelevant. You lost me. In terms of popularity, ok, great, she's more popular. She's the most popular loser. Awesome.
  21. I think Mark was well within the bounds of this forum to bring it up. Not sure why this is irrelevant at all, but feel free to bring it up with Mark via PM.
  22. yes she was denied the chance to do just that, thanks to Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida, all states that were "supposed" to just vote the way they were told.
  23. you bet. I was just giving an example - trying to say that Tommy Douglas is a "socialist" by today's standards is a fools game. Much like trying to say George Orwell would support the abolishment of the First Amendment.
  24. and she ******* lost.
