  1. Roger Goodell for PM!
  2. after watching how the Liberals tried to make up their own laws with SNC Lavalin, I have a hard time disagreeing with you.
  3. in 1992 I did a human resources project for my university class and my group chose the Calgary Flames, because they were all Flames fans (not me, but as a hockey fan, I went along with it). I was assigned two players to interview, Mike Vernon and Craig Berube. Berube at that time was Calgary's goon. He was very polite to interview. When I asked him what his post-hockey plans were, he said that he wanted to take over his dad's butcher shop in Calahoo, Alberta. Now when I see him behind the bench for St. Louis, beating our Jets, I wish that he had stuck to that plan.
  4. watch the movie "The Big Short". It's really informative. Gives a unique insight into the entire mess.
  5. do you fully understand the consequences of this strategy? That millions of people would have lost everything?
  6. When people tell me that they were angry (I was angry at the ratings agencies who didn't do their jobs) about the bail-outs, I ask a simple question - what would you have done? Let those giant banks fail? That would have turned a deep recession into a full-blown depression, as millions of people would have lost not only their homes, but all of their life savings too. There would have been mass poverty of 1930's era suffering. I don't hate the bail-outs, I hate the fact that it was allowed to get to that level. And it's happening again. I am watching Tesla really closely right now after their last quarter results. If the ratings agencies don't downgrade their debt on Monday, then the con is on again. And it's going to be much worse this time when things finally blow sky-high. Interest rates are going to go to the moon.
  7. so you didn't really answer my questions though. There is no bogeyman here. We as a society enjoy many, many entitlements. Are you saying that there should be more? Are you saying that you want to see corporations disbanded? I don't really follow your line of reasoning.
  8. Is it though? What does the word "socialism" even mean anymore? Our governments continue every day to encroach on our rights and freedoms, and to continually add comforts and services that were the purview of the individual. The nanny-state has grown so much and continues to grow. If someone from one hundred years ago looked at all of the entitlements that we enjoy today, they'd say that we've had a socialism in place for a long time now. The question is - how much is enough? How much is too much? At what point do people have to say hey, how about some personal responsibility here? Where does the government stop, and the individual start?
  9. I'm not really following this statement. Are you saying that "socialism" is the reason for "free" health care? I love it when people call things "free". Nothing is free. Someone is paying for it. In terms of health care and "socialism", I would definitely take Tommy Douglas' type of socialism any day. He'd be considered right of the UCP if he was running today. He never ran a deficit, ever. Always balanced his budget. He wanted "affordable" health care, and never envisioned "free". He wanted people to pay something, because he knew that making it completely free would cause issues. I doubt if he were alive today, he'd be totally happy with how health care evolved in this country. The extremely long wait times for basic care just aren't acceptable. My friends' mom has been waiting, in a lot of pain, for almost a year now to get into a specialized clinic for treatment. That just makes no sense. I am not saying that I am advocating for a "US style" system, so don't even go there. I am saying that there is a lot of room for improvement in our system, and it isn't this shining model that our propaganda has lead people to believe. I would take a hard look at the Australian model. I lived there for a year and talked to people about the health care system they had, and they've developed a sort of "hybrid" system with public/private, with everyone getting care, but those who can afford it paying to "jump the queue", freeing up spots in the public system for those who can't afford to pay, and reducing wait time considerably.
  10. and let's all hope Canada is just as intelligent.

  13. until he sleeps with Scheifele's sister and gets his ass kicked....(reference: rumor that Drai slept with Nurse's sister, causing locker-room strife and an ass-kicking from Nurse)
  14. watching Trouba talk in this interview made me think of this:
  15. not sure what video you are referencing? where was Scheifele's facial reaction? Drinking game - take a shot every time Wheeler says "You know".
  16. Throw in a kitten and I'm good.
  17. it's not about being ok with 2019. It's about the $8.5 million we'll be paying him in 2024.
  18. I regretted it before the ink was dry. Also regretting Wheeler too.
  19. ok thanks Rich. Now put in context I am a bit more empathetic. Paul Friesen is just such a ******.
  20. Does someone have a link to this?
