  1. This team is totally reminding me of 1988 and 1990. The offense was putrid but at least they didn't lose games with dumb turnovers. Things would be looking bleak and then boom, a turnover/pick six and the game is turned right back around, just like last night. Moe Leggett jumps the route to Lewis that Glenn had fallen into a trance throwing to (Glenn is pretty predictable, if something is working for him, he goes to that well over and over again) and the whole game just flipped right back the Bombers way. I know some here keep saying "that's not going to happen every game". Well no, but it sure seems to happen a lot, and as long as the D line is pressuring the QB you are going to get interceptions. Which is why the 1980's Bombers defences were such ball hawks too.
  2. Yup Chip Cox handed Winnipeg the FG that made it 22 - 18 and then Bowman gave the Bombers 25 yards on their long drive that ended in a TD. Two veterans who should know better that cost their team big, though it didn't help that KG went into his familiar shell in the second half and did absolutely nothing, before firing a perfect pass into Loffler's mitts to seal the game.
  3. I was sure their center also got called for holding Westerman on one play after Westerman moved inside in the second half - Matte I believe his name is.
  4. Whoops - I forgot to put in an entry this week. Is it ok to pick Messam? Or am I too late? I was going to pick him anyway.
  5. Watching the game again in a less inebriated state, I was surprised how sloppy the TSN crew was as well as the graphics guy. Several times during the night, a "Macho Harris #3 - DB" graphic would pop up announcing that Macho had 33 yards of rushing and 53 yards of receiving and 15 touches (something like that). I expected them to correct the mistake during the night but they never did. Apparently according to Duane Forde Taylor Loffler is now from Kamloops. Forde also announced after Harris' second fumble that that was Harris' first fumble of the season. Really? After he had fumbled already in the same game? Several times Montreal would have the ball on their own side of 55, yet the graphic would state they were on Winnipeg's 34 yard line. Gord Miller kept calling Winnipeg "Montreal" and vice versa. Just sloppy stuff. Methinks the boys were out hitting the town the night before. Can't blame them I guess.
  6. I'm pretty happy with Orridge. It's a tough job and definitely there are easier challenges to take on out there. I don't know what to blame regarding the Lions attendance going in the toilet, other than there just is no pride in the team like you see in smaller centers. And there are too many other distractions, whereas in Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton the football game would be the biggest thing going on. I've always been critical of the lack of support of the Lions in BC., but I guess its just because the apathy about the team I see here so often is so foreign to me. I would guess the same is true in Toronto too. Another big issue with Vancouver is that its now become "cool" to be a Seahawks fan, so that's what everyone is doing now instead of going to Lions games. We need the Seahawks to go in the toilet for a few years and the bandwagon jumpers will be back.
  7. You should hear my stand up routine about Ovaltine.
  8. I thought we did, or did I just dream this?? http://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/2426917-2016-u-s-men-s-national-team-roster
  9. so in other news, I hear Bilukidi might be done with football. Anyone else hear anything? I got this news hot off the presses...
  10. so you are saying he's like having a toothache and really bad hemorrhoids at the same time but at least he's not ebola.
  11. Saw Def Leppard in 1988. Surrounded by a sea of mullets. Saw them again in Kelowna in 2005. Once again, surrounded by a sea of mullets.
  12. I'm pretty sure I saw the Crash Test Dummies at U or M perform long before they were famous, while visiting pals during Christmas break one year. Might have been around the same time frame.
  13. not that I remember. He might have been on the David Letterman show that day, who knows. I do remember the sign at the gas station said "Home of **** Assman".
  14. Tyrone Jones clone?
  15. and I knew when I saw that a Hip thread was started by Mr. Dee, that there would be a bunch of pictures of PM dingbat included with pictures of the Hip. The link to the article was the icing on the cake. Sorry, but I am on several other websites including political ones and this was the third site with a thread titled "Tragically Hip Concert" and yet it goes exactly to this same form - picture of Gord Downie, picture of a vacant-staring Trudeau at the Hip concert, picture of Downie/Band, followed by heart-warming picture of Downie and Trudeau embracing followed by this standard script: The Hip concert was on last night and ZOMG!!! did you see Trudeau was there, and yeah it was sure great that we could watch them one last time and pay tribute, and ZOMG!!! did you see that part where the lead singer guy (what's his name again?) was talking about how great Trudeau is!!! ZOMG that was so awesome and he's so dreamy and stuff!!!!!
  16. ha one time I made a special detour while driving from Calgary to Winnipeg just to fill up at his gas station in Regina.
  17. The funny thing about the Hip was that if you wanted to see them when they toured the US it was easy to get tickets, and they'd get small draws - from what I have been told by people who have seen them live in the US. They truly are "ours", unlike other Canadian bands like the Guess Who or Neil Young, who Americans don't even know are Canadian as they were so popular in the US too.
  18. You are right, it could be enjoyed by millions of Canadians, even the ones who aren't Trudeau fanbois. I really liked Downie's speech at the end, and it was funny when he said that he was going to pretend to leave, and then come back again after everyone cheered. That was true Canadian folksieness. I am glad the CBC broadcast the final show, as I never got to go to a live Hip concert. I had a chance back in 1989 when they played Mac Hall at the University of Calgary, (New Orleans is Sinking had just come out) but decided not to go due mainly to just plain cheapness. Always regretted that decision, and now its kind of sad that I'll never see them live again, even with the distasteful Trudeau political propaganda.
  19. on this we can agree. let him say what he wants, and I'm glad that he made a plea to Canadians watching to take action on Indigenous issues. I can't argue with that at all. I didn't know that Trudeau had been invited, but I doubt that really would have made a difference in him being there. Glad that his personal photographer was there to capture Trudeau in all the great poses, so that his propagandists across Canada could sneak them into threads about the Hip concert.
  20. too bad you couldn't have a thread about the Tragically Hip without showing not one, but two pictures of our mimbo Prime Minister, and a link to an article talking about Captain selfie. I was actually wondering if this thread was about the Hip, or about your man-crush on Justin. in other words, if you don't want political shyte in your thread, leave the political shyte out of it to begin with. I wasn't even going to mention Trudeau, even though I thought it was extremely in poor taste to use the CBC and the Tragically Hip's potentially last concert ever as a political soapbox, but YOU brought it into the thread. If you don't want opinions about the poor taste shown by Trudeau to milk this event, then don't even introduce him in the first place. Just let it be.
  21. I watched some of the concert, and agree with Goalie that Downie wasn't his best, but have to cut the guy a ton of slack. I was not surprised to see Trudeau front and center at this event, as of course he had to be there to get maximum free exposure and appear hip (pun intended) and cool to people who lap up his continuous vacuous gestures. I was flipping back and forth between the Rider game and the concert, and was really not happy when Gord started praising Trudeau, as I generally don't like it when rock bands or actors use their public stage to try and push political agendas. I get drawing attention to First Nations issues, but pumping a political leader on national TV is in poor taste, no matter who it might be. I could only imagine the outrage from the lunatic left if Gord had gone on some anti-Trudeau tirade and told everyone to support Rona Ambrose. That would have been hilarious!! "You see that guy there? Not much going on in his head right now. Just about zero. Deficits? Budgets? They take care of themselves". HA!
  22. another Tyson Pencer situation...
