  1. The Jets and the Bombers both benefited in the past two drafts from highly rated prospects falling unexpectedly in the draft. If the Jets can somehow get Chychrun and Laine in the first round without giving up any really important pieces to the puzzle then I think I'd be pretty ecstatic. Do you think Kyle Connor would still have fallen that far if the GM's knew how big a splash Connor was going to make in the NCAA? I doubt it.
  2. I was hoping he wouldn't shave it off, but just style it. My favorite is the "Avalon".
  3. If Chevy sees Chycrun falling then maybe we trade up to get him from 22, but only by dangling some of the excess bottom 6 we have like Stafford, Burmi, Thorbs, etc. I would hate to give up a young prospect. Maybe we trade #22 and our second to move up?
  4. 17to85 would though.
  5. Sorry, I forgot to show you my sarcasm meter while I was posting that...
  6. he can take all the time off he needs, as he has nothing to prove. No point wearing him out in TC - he's going to be carrying a lot of load this year.
  7. MOS should have thrown a challenge flag and made everyone stand around for five minutes. Just so the new rookies could get used to the pace of game play in a real game...
  8. In other news I hear Chevy wants to trade Myers and Stafford for Evander Kane.
  9. Bite your tongue sir! He's a Bomber, not a Rider!
  10. he's not that good. The only reason he scores goals is because of Dvorak and Marner.
  11. you assumed correctly.
  12. I think our season will definitely depend on the health of Willy and Harris. With those two in the line-up and a decent defense there should be no game this year we can't win.
  13. I will never forget Pete Catan. What a great player.
  14. I guess I will reserve judgment and see where he ends up this year regarding injury. He just seems to get hurt more than other players, but that's just potentially my personal bias. As for Enstrom, I don't mind if he misses time in the line-up, but that's just because I don't think he's very good.
  15. Addison Richards??? Where was his hair today?
  16. I like seeing Perrault and Dano together. I also think that Perrault will be probably be out for the year by January and this will open it up for a rookie to step in like Lemieux or Kosmo. Perrault just isn't durable.
  17. I am just watching last season's season opener in Regina where the Bombers dominated. Macho was just awful for the Riders, taking dumb penalties at the wrong times that would make Kuale proud and just blowing coverages. I really would like to know what is going to change this year from last for Macho.
  18. I don't think the rules are that hard and fast for this tournament. Draisaitl played in last year's tournament and he had 37 games with the Oilers under his belt by that point. The only rule seems to be to disallow NCAA player participation which is a giant failing in my opinion. The NCAA should allow for an exemption to allow NHL teams to pay their way for the NCAA kids to play in Penticton. Makes no sense that they have to buy their own airfare and pay for their own meals just to play. And even then they probably would fall afoul of some other NCAA rule. Just ridiculous. The Jets would have some major firepower if they could have Roslovic and the rest of their NCAA players playing instead of kids that are just there to fill the roster and probably won't make even Tulsa's roster.
  19. I think I can settle for that. It would be doubtful that Laine would play in that tourney anyway. Kind of like how McDavid only played one game and everyone here was mad because they'd bought Oiler tickets with the expectation of seeing him play all of the games. It would be fun to speculate who is going to be on the Jets Young Stars this year. Last year it was loaded with Helle in net, Morrissey on D, Lemieux, Ehlers, Petan, De Leo, Kosmo and a bunch of other guys I can't remember, other than Axel Blomquist who could barely skate. That team should have dominated but didn't play very well. The game I was at the only thing that kept me from falling asleep was PK Subban's brother taking a run at Ehlers and Lemieux instantly dropping the gloves and going after him. No one else did anything, but Lemieux didn't hesitate. So this year's team - Comrie in net, Connor up front, then a bunch of CHL prospects/draft picks from this year and the past few years as the NCAA guys can't attend. EDIT: http://www.coppernblue.com/prospects-3/2015/9/11/9310835/oilers-young-stars-penticton-mcdavid-how-to-watch-flames-canucks Here were the rosters from last year's tourney. Andrew Copp was also playing for Winnipeg. So was Jan Kostalek.
  20. Get drafted second overall and winning rookie of the year Stanley Cup can come when he's 20.
  21. There's a hockey name that strikes fear in the hearts of opponents.
  22. Yeah he's heading for Ryan Getzlaff territory.
  23. not sure who is doing that. Ok we don't need another Blake Wheeler, we need an Ovechkin. Now you are going to tell me people are comparing Puljujarvi to Ovechkin right?
  24. Well, after going for beers again with my Finnish buddy yesterday I actually do care a lot who the Jets take. I honestly don't buy what you are peddling here that Laine and Puljujarvi are close. Talking to an actual Finnish hockey fan, he says that its not close at all. He doesn't think Puljujarvi even plays in the NHL next year, while Laine is ready to step into top 6 on any team in the NHL right now. I told him about this one poster who keeps saying that he doesn't care who the Jets take and that Pulju and Laine are almost the same and he laughed his head off. Laine is the biggest hockey story to hit Finland since Teemu Selanne. Could be even bigger than Teemu one day, if that's even possible. Chevy would lose his job if he took anyone but Laine at 2. It's not even a discussion.
  25. Laine should count. Unless of course the Leafs take him first overall.
