  1. who wants the 4th overall pick? I assume almost every team is in play here. If PLD is really that good, like "franchise" good, then fine, trade Myers. I just hope we go deep on D men with the rest of our picks after that, having secured Laine and PLD. Man that would be some exciting young talent in our top 6 (maybe not this year, but next for sure): PLD, Laine, Connor, Schief and Ehlers. Like scary good.
  2. Buff still takes too many penalties. Dumb ones too. He needs to work on that. Granted, sometimes he gets the call just because he's so big.
  3. Yeah that guy would look good as a Jet all right. EDIT - looks like he was drafted in 2009 by the Islanders in the 2nd round. If he was never signed does that make him a free agent? Or is he eligible to be drafted again? I don't know how these rules work.
  4. Love your signature line!!
  5. Through various NHL connections that exist in Kelowna I've heard it on extremely good authority that Edmonton is shopping number 4 for a proven D man, and Myers fits the bill, though unlike you I'd really hate to see him go, as I think he can be a dominant D man with that huge reach, and via similar sources I hear that Myers really likes it in Winnipeg and wants it to be his home for the rest of his career. If they want Myers that's great, but make them pay. I don't see why we'd have to give them our 22nd as well as Myers for number 4. Maybe throw in Thorbs or Burmi. We've got lots of bottom six guys that are going to be obsolete with the arrival of Connor and Laine and Lemieux. I'd also consider taking Tkachuk with the 4th overall, but that's just because I am biased due to his last name. I also haven't seen PLD play and know basically nothing about him.
  6. anyone know why Kyle Connor hasn't been playing for the US? Is he hurt? I noticed Burmi wasn't in the line-up today for the Russkies. Man Canada losing 3-2 to the US right now, this would be a huge upset. I don't think either Canada or the US can beat Finland, they are on fire.
  7. This kind of implosion by Montreal makes me kind of sad that we are in the West now....sigh...
  8. I am sure she did...
  9. That's too rich. I did talk to a Coyote fan who was all about wanting Matthews purely due to him being an Arizona boy. But I think Arizona might be better served taking a run at the other Arizona kid in the draft, Tkachuk.
  10. maybe there is still hope that we can sign Dwayne Slay too.
  11. My Finnish buddy says the consensus in Finland is that Matthews goes first as Toronto needs a center more than a winger. Which is why Laine just fell into our laps. There will be folk tales sung around camp fires for centuries talking about how Winnipeg somehow moved up to second overall in the 2016 draft. Just unbelievable.
  12. Ovi doesn't really fit into the "draft and develop" model we have going on. I think we stick with the young guns. Ovi can go play out his career in Florida or LA if Washington doesn't want him anymore.
  13. If Toronto takes Laine, then Chevy should just run up to the podium with a Matthews sweater and say "Thank you Toronto" and drop the mic.
  14. Yeah - trade em Enstrom, Burmi and #22 overall. Or wait for Torts to run Puljujarvi out of Columbus like he did Johansen and get Pulju in a trade next year.
  15. Might need two sacks of beans. For one sack I think we could get Tlusty or Slater.
  16. well if ISIS says he is good you have to believe it...
  17. Well I thought it interesting to get a perspective of a Finn who lives and breathes Finnish hockey. He says that the Jets have to take Laine. In fact he was saying that he understands that the Leafs have to take Auston Matthews at first overall as they need a center, but the Finns think it's not even close, Laine is a once in a generation player, and he said in Finland they couldn't believe how lucky the Jets were to get number two. He said he saw Selanne play as an 18 year old and his buddies think that Laine is that kind of a player, different style but destined for the same kind of greatness as Selanne. They are pretty excited to see "the next Selanne" also playing in Winnipeg as they know how much Teemu loved Winnipeg.
  18. I just had beers with my Finnish friend, who reads all of the Finnish papers and is still well-connected with the Finnish hockey scene. He said two things: 1. The idiotic trip by Perry on Laine is the number one news story in Finland right now. Let's just say if Corey Perry was in Finland right now he'd have to get on the first plane out of there if he valued his life. 2. I asked him flat out - Laine or Pulujarvi and he just laughed and said "If Winnipeg doesn't take Laine then I don't know what the hell they are doing. It's not even close." I wish Goalie had been there.
  19. Marchand isn't much better. That cheap shot on Komarov yesterday was ridiculous. I was actually kind of ashamed of some of our goon tactics yesterday, including Brassard slashing the goalie. Why is Marchand even on this team?
  20. **** move by a player that should know better. If Laine had done that to Perry, he'd be labeled a bad draft risk due to immaturity. But to see a 31 year old veteran player do that, just stupid and low brow. Laine's reaction was great though, just shook it off, sucked it up and came back out flying. Love to see that.
  21. hee hee - I'd want to see that just to see Goalie's head explode...but truth be told I wouldn't be that sad actually...but that's just because I want to see Selanne-Zhamnov-Tkachuk part deux.
  22. That's not really a fair assessment though as we never had any draft picks in that era.
  23. I trust Chevy's judgment so I am not saying "it has to be Laine" but I'd want to know the reasoning as to why if it's Puljarvi or one of the other top prospects instead of Laine at #2.
  24. I do care who they take and I want them to take Laine. I am totally jazzed to see him on the point on our PP next year. Could be just smokin' awesome.
