  1. Glad we didn't disrupt the tank by accidentally scoring in the OT period. That second goal was a classic example of why I want Enstrom off this team. Silfverberg just skates up to Enstrom and takes the puck off of his stick like he's taking candy from a baby. Not acceptable.
  2. Currently sitting in SeaTac airport waiting to connect to New Orleans. I will watch next week. All I can say is that I wouldn't have Enstrom on my team. But that's me.
  3. Highway robbery!
  4. pashaw. I'm from Manitoba. Only buy my books at used book stores. You can't haggle down the price of a used book from $3.25 to $2.00 on an internet site.
  5. I don't think that was the actual quote. Someone must have changed it. I read online that it was Abe Lincoln in 1846 who advised that you can't always believe everything you read on the internet.
  6. half of his height is hair though

  8. ok well then I think Chicago should send us over all of their prospects and let the fans be the judge of that.
  9. ok thanks for the tip - I'll look out for it at one of the 300 used book stores here in Kelowna.
  10. And when he does this I just scream at the TV. It's so frustrating to watch.
  11. weren't Babs and his bro married to some hot blonde twins? I remember them always doing commercials for Skinners wet and wild water slides.
  12. Jets Trade Babych for "Stone Hands" Neufeld November 22, 1985 Once thought to be the cornerstone of the franchise, Dave Babych is no longer a member of the Winnipeg Jets. Yesterday, Vice President and General Manager John Ferguson traded his once highly-coveted defenseman to the Hartford Whalers in exchange for Ray "Stone Hands" Neufeld. "It was a very difficult decision to make," said Ferguson. "It was something we felt we had to do, but it wasn't easy. We still think David Babych is going to have an outstanding career in the National Hockey League, but in order to get someone of Ray's ability, you've got to give something up, and today, we gave up David Babych." Coming to the Jets is St. Boniface native Ray Neufeld, bringing with him an established reputation for his lack of finish around the opponent's net and little else. "Ray is someone we've been after for a while now. Our scouts have spoken well of the young man, and how well he would fit in with our program, " added Ferguson. "Ray will give us added depth up front where we need it right now. We have plenty of mediocrity on our blue line, but we needed someone like Ray to bring our complement of forwards up to that level. Ray will fit right in and bring that type of mediocrity that we're looking for. We expected that, in order to give up someone of David Babych's caliber, the player we received will have be out of the league in three or four years and playing in some senior league, and we think we have that kind of player in Ray Neufeld." Babych was originally the second overall selection in the 1980 Entry Draft, but in recent times, had fallen out of favor with the organization and failed to live up to the hype and level of expectations that followed him to Winnipeg from the junior ranks. "I'm kind of shocked right now," said Babych. "I wasn't aware that I was being shopped around, but I guess I was. It's a little unnerving, but that's business side of pro sports, you just have to deal with it." "I'm quite excited to be coming to Winnipeg," said Neufeld. "I spoke to Mr. Ferguson on the phone and he told me that they've been pursuing me for some time and was pleased that they will finally able to make a deal with the Whalers to bring me to Winnipeg. I know they thought highly of Dave Babych, so I know they must have wanted me. Of course you don't want to be traded, but at least you know the team that traded for you really wanted you. Hopefully my luck will change and I'll be able to hang on for a few more years in the league. I hope to be able to contribute to a solid third-place finish in the Smythe Division for the Jets. Mr. Ferguson told me that's what they're shooting for this year, and hopefully we can get there. Maybe we can even win a playoff game." Neufeld was originally selected by the Whalers in the fourth round of the 1979 Entry Draft and spent his first full season with the Whalers in 1982-1983. http://curtiswalker.com/jets/m_satire_neufeld.aspx
  13. Babych asked to be traded to Hartford? That's not what I read. I read that Smith convinced Fergie to do it purely to sabotage him and take his GM job. That was what Fergie seemed to think, IIRC. It's been a long time, so my memory is a bit foggy, but I know Smith was the one who wanted Babych gone, for reasons unknown.
  14. I was a Dano doubter, mostly because I had no clue who he was and some of the intelligentsia here were already crowning him second line status sight unseen. I've been impressed with his work ethic, and when it comes to scoring goals and getting assists off of pucks deflecting off your butt he seems to be right up there in terms of talent. But in all seriousness, I'm starting to see why some here were so high on him. Definitely highly skilled, and definitely benefiting from being paired with a skill guy like Perrault, as opposed to playing with pluggers.
  15. and Shawn Cronin too! Babs was my favorite though, still don't know how that trade for Neufeld ever got approved. Hartford really pooched us on that deal.
  16. its almost as hot and heavy as Obama and Trudeau...
  17. Trouba had 24 minutes last night while Enstrom and Myers were tied with 22 minutes.
  18. that is another good point. Nice to see what Copp could do with wingers who can actually make plays.
  19. Ok, I take back the Melch instead of Tyrion Enstrom comment. I have to say though I really am liking the work ethic of the team these past few games. They just skated those sad-sack Canucks right into the ground last night. Every line was busting it, and you have Kosmo/Lipon/Halischuk playing like they don't want to be sent down. Can't fault those guys for lack of hustle. Lipon especially. That kid has some heart. Kosmo and Lowry seem to have some chemistry too.
  20. I have hopes for Poolman and Glover to at least come up and be on the Moose next year. I like their size, as opposed to Toby Dinklage.
  21. yeah I know, that's why I went to Lenscrafters on Saturday and ordered a pair. What are you, stalking me or something?
  22. LOL - Bromance with Myers. Ok. Well we'll just agree to disagree on Enstrom.
  23. yeah, time to kill the chemistry he has developed with Perrault and make him play with Thorbs and Copp for a while. That would destroy anybody's confidence.
