  1. Other than that one brain fart, I thought Melch did good for a guy who has played one entire NHL game in his life. Like his size too. Would rather have him out there than Enstrom or Postma.
  2. as long as the puck never went into the corner, and as long as no one ever was standing in front of the net. But otherwise, yeah Enstrom can really shut down the other team all right. Seriously, I spit out my coffee laughing when I read that sentence.
  3. So knowing what we know now, should the Jets have taken Larkin over Ehlers? Should Edmonton taken Larkin over Draisaitl?
  4. how many NHL teams that drafted ahead of Winnipeg in the 2015 draft are doing this right now: and this:
  5. He's only 19, his body still has a lot of filling out to do. Look at Mark Scheifle at that age, compared to where he is now.
  6. Chychrun underwent surgery April 1 to correct a torn ligament in his back that was allowing his left shoulder to pop out from behind. “Which is uncommon,” he pointed out. “Anything out in front, it would just go back.” After the first week of mostly-medicated recovery, it was off to the therapy room to stretch and start increasing his range of motion before proceeding to strength training. “Once you get back into the thick of things it comes back pretty quick, quicker than you'd imagine,” he said. “I loss some muscle, but that came back even quicker than the strength did.” The initial prognosis was six months of recovery time before he was able to play again, so having the procedure as soon as possible following the second injury meant being at full strength heading into this season. “It worked out perfect,” he said. The decision, though, also meant missing his team's playoff run, which matched up Sarnia against the heavily-favoured Connor McDavid-led Otters. As much as he wanted to be out there helping his club attempt to pull off the upset – his teammates managed to earn a Game 1 victory in Erie before losing four straight – it wasn't enough of a reason to justify risking further injury. “There was a chance to make it worse if I were to play back in Erie there. There was just no point to risk not being ready for this year,” he said. Going under the knife also meant not having to worry about protecting his wing as he was a little hesitant during his initial non-surgical return. Now that is not an issue. “Having that extra confidence in it now, it's good to have trust in it,” he said. To get to this point, he worked with rehab staff, who were in touch with his Philadelphia-based surgeon, on a daily basis throughout the spring and summer, the majority of which was spent at his family's cottage outside of Ottawa. “They were great with being smart with me, but making sure I got some light contact in some game-like situations before they sent me back here,” he said.
  7. same number of goals as assists (practically), so he's a sniper who likes to shoot the puck. That's not what the Jets need.
  8. https://www.nhl.com/news/matthew-tkachuks-game-reminding-many-of-nhl-dad/c-783155 Danton Cole, who serves as an associate coach for the U.S. national junior team, likes what he sees in Tkachuk at this stage of his career. He believes the 17-year-old left-handed shot will gradually improve as the level of competition gets even better. Wow - another old Jet name. I had completely forgotten about Danton Cole. Looks like the new Jets have quite the network of old Jets feeding them intel.
  9. throw him into the trade for Bogosian and Kane and it might get done!
  10. I know nothing about the Finns but I now am seeing a lot of interest in Matthews. Since he seems to have already turned pro somehow he should be ready to make the jump next year, especially if a team like Winnipeg with a strong need for a center picks him. Other than Matthews, I don't know enough about the other guys (other than Tkachuk who apparently we don't need as he scores too much, but only because of everyone else he plays with) to make an assessment. So right now I'd say the only players to make the jump next year would be Connor, and maybe Morrissey.
  11. They might want Lemieux, I am hearing good things about that kid...
  12. Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
  13. I saw a notice about this today: http://www.donnarcisseallstarevent.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Kelowna-AllStar-Event-Registration.pdf I am not sure why the Roughriders are holding this camp in Kelowna, but I thought I would post it in case there are any kids interested in going, as it sounds like a pretty cool event for kids who play football.
  14. lowry, copp Lemieux? Isn't Lowry a center? Why would he play LW on the fourth line? seems like a waste. Now, Tkachuk, Copp, Lemieux sounds like a really interesting third line.
  15. ok, well I don't really know what your point is above but I think you are ok with drafting an RHD in 2017? Anyway, no need to over-analyze it. I'm just saying that I watched Adam Foote's son on Friday night and he was quite impressive, very big kid with a lot of skills. I was really impressed with his timing on pinches, and he almost always came up with the puck in one-on-one battles. Kind of the anti-Enstrom.
  16. how was this kid still available at #17?
  17. I agree Staf isn't a play-maker but he is finding a niche as the garbage man on the Wheeler/Shief line. With the amount of pucks that Wheels and Scheif get to the net, someone has to be there to pick up the garbage. Phil Esposito made a good living as a garbage collector in front of the net.
  18. Good energy from Kosmachuk, sets up the winning goal too. Kosmo!
  19. Watched Adam Foote's kid tonight playing for the Rockets. He's going to be a good one. Should go high in 2017. Unfortunately he's a RHD (oh no!!) so the Jets don't need him, apparently. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=247895
  20. Blue boy ice cream!!! Is it still around?
  21. BC's got some big guys, including a 6'2" up and comer named Terrence Jeffers-Harris, who might be a keeper.
  22. That woman needs to buy a No-No hair removal kit asap. She must be Jamie Farr's sister. And $45 was a lot of money back then. You would have to be pretty serious about that jumpsuit to plunk down that kind of dough.
