and because you had owners like Larry Ryckman and Bruce McNall.

You really have a short memory. The Jets were hemorrhaging money and couldn't sustain a team in Winnipeg in an era pre salary cap and without the current system in place to protect against the low dollar. They also needed a new building. There was too much stacked against the Jets at that time. They had to go or fold, there was no "stay" option. Remember, Quebec left too, under the same exact circumstances. St. Louis is not in that same boat as the Jets or Nordiques circa 1996. Their team left not because they were losing money, but because the owners could make even more money somewhere else. Greed vs viability.

Morrissey and Bowie - great duo!!

Myers to Nashville for Weber. Or Chicago for Keith. Or Colorado for Tyson Barrie. Yes, I will only accept a trade for Myers if it is for another former Rockets D man. I didn't include Josh Gorges on the list as that would mean Myers would have to go back to Buffalo and I just couldn't be that cruel.
-
so aha! I've proved my point! I will admit I am a bit biased towards former Rockets so to see three Rockets D-men on the Jets would make me very proud.
-
LOL - there's a "similar" LHD to Myers in the NHL currently? Really?
-
Wheeler - Schiefle - Ehlers Stafford - Little - Perreault Connor - Lowry - Armia Sanford - Copp - Lemieux Trouba - Buff Myers - Hamonic Morrissey - Bowey G: Helle/Hutch Gone - Pavs, Burmi, Thorbs, Ladd, Enstrom Somehow in exchange we get Hamonic, Sanford, Bowey. KBF's wishlist/dream team for 2016-17. And yes, with this line-up we won't make the playoffs, but we'll be fun to watch, and the future will be so bright we'll have to go to all of the games wearing sun glasses.

Trouba - Buff Myers - Hamonic (who cares if both are LHD/RHD - this is the NHL, not Senior Rec hockey) Morrissey - Bowey Done and done

We be tankin' it (official tanking thread) ...

I wonder what Phil Sykes is doing these days... -
Sigh...

I concur, but it seems to be the biggest rule that Americans just can't seem to understand.
-
Yes the CFL was definitely in dire straits at that time.
-
Well I'd be going after Bowey purely to play with Morrissey. I don't know which of those guys is the LHD and which is the RHD and I don't really care.
-
I don't get the fixation with RHD vs LHD. In my day the coach just said "get out there and play defence" and away we went, no matter which way we shot the puck. I'd be going after Bowey because he's big and tough, and because he has a history of good chemistry with Morrissey.
-
yeah that's what I am thinking too. Two decent prospects and a draft pick in the top two rounds (even if its Chicago or Washington) and away you go. I like Bowey because I've already seen what he and Morrissey can do in the WHL and in the WJHC together, they seem to be a Keith/Seabrook type combo that would anchor our D for years to come.

The only concession I'd potentially make to the rules is the "no yards" rule being changed to American rules, just because it is so arbitrary and confusing. But we need the rouge, as the end zones are different. If the ratio could be kept in place and the rules not changed substantially (no we are not adding another down) then I would look at opening an exploratory committee, into some markets. Perhaps the Argo franchise could be moved to St, Louis, purely because it couldn't do any worse anywhere else? I kid...I kid...
-
I did some more research on the Capitals prospects and I also really like Zach Sanford. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/zach-sanford/ He was taken in the second round by the Capitals in 2013 soon after they took Madison Bowey, also in the second round. How did Washington have two second round picks in 2013? Because they traded for Winnipeg's second round pick in that draft. Bazinga! Sanford could have been ours if we hadn't traded that pick in the first place. So how about this from Washington for Ladd? Bowey+Sanford and a second rounder in 2016. Too much? Not enough?

and yet of all of the laughable places that the CFL expanded into (Sacramento, Birmingham, Shreveport, Vegas, Memphis, San Antonio) Baltimore was the only team that was successful in drawing fans, purely because it was an old NFL market with a fanbase hungry for professional football.

Did you mean "motto" or "mojo"? -

If we can get Bowey and a 1st out of Washington, I'm listening.

I could see the CFL being typical Canadians and bending over backwards to try and please St. Louis, such that we go through a bunch of machinations and get St. Louis into the league. I could see the game, when viewed objectively, catching on in St. Louis just as it did in Baltimore. And THEN I could see, after doing all of that and making St. Louis a successful franchise, the city of St. Louis building a brand new facility and attracting an NFL franchise and totally screwing us over, just like Baltimore did. In the end, they are an American city, and will always hunger for an NFL franchise. In fact, if you gave Toronto and Vancouver the option, they would probably vote to punt their CFL franchises and go with NFL teams. Even though it is an inferior product, it's got the "cool" factor that the CFL just will never have. And that's why I love our league so very much. Its not about being hip or cool, it's about a massively entertaining game that when played by skilled players, is one of the best sports on the planet to watch. Bar none.

The ratio is the stumbling block. Just can't work.

Game 57 : Airport 75 @ Lightning

I liked Beyak and Hnidy's commentary on it. Yes a bit of homerism but not much. Those refs were a freaking joke. I hope the fans remember them the next time they do a game in Winnipeg. It's Murray Clarke all over again. -

any updates on the status of Little (only asking as he is a vital cog in my losing hockey pool team this year)...
