  1. and yet of all of the laughable places that the CFL expanded into (Sacramento, Birmingham, Shreveport, Vegas, Memphis, San Antonio) Baltimore was the only team that was successful in drawing fans, purely because it was an old NFL market with a fanbase hungry for professional football.
  2. Did you mean "motto" or "mojo"?
  3. If we can get Bowey and a 1st out of Washington, I'm listening.
  4. I could see the CFL being typical Canadians and bending over backwards to try and please St. Louis, such that we go through a bunch of machinations and get St. Louis into the league. I could see the game, when viewed objectively, catching on in St. Louis just as it did in Baltimore. And THEN I could see, after doing all of that and making St. Louis a successful franchise, the city of St. Louis building a brand new facility and attracting an NFL franchise and totally screwing us over, just like Baltimore did. In the end, they are an American city, and will always hunger for an NFL franchise. In fact, if you gave Toronto and Vancouver the option, they would probably vote to punt their CFL franchises and go with NFL teams. Even though it is an inferior product, it's got the "cool" factor that the CFL just will never have. And that's why I love our league so very much. Its not about being hip or cool, it's about a massively entertaining game that when played by skilled players, is one of the best sports on the planet to watch. Bar none.
  5. The ratio is the stumbling block. Just can't work.
  6. I liked Beyak and Hnidy's commentary on it. Yes a bit of homerism but not much. Those refs were a freaking joke. I hope the fans remember them the next time they do a game in Winnipeg. It's Murray Clarke all over again.
  7. any updates on the status of Little (only asking as he is a vital cog in my losing hockey pool team this year)...
  8. It is my fondest wish that the chuckle-heads in the NFL realize just how valuable the CFL is and fronts a bunch of cash to the league to support and bolster it such that league salaries can be raised substantially. I realize that on the surface this looks like the NFL would be hurting itself as it would make the CFL more competitive salary-wise, but I doubt many players would turn down an NFL shot just because their salary went from $150K Cdn to $250K Cdn. Anyway, I would love to see that happen. These players deserve more money. And the more money the league can pay, the better the talent we attract. It's not rocket surgery.
  9. Ladd for Jagr!
  10. Dano and Pokka Who?
  11. It's Nick Grigsby time!!
  12. oh...right....he should have defected and played for Canada. We couldn't have done much worse this year.
  13. Ville Pokka?? What? Sounds like a guy who would back up the Shmengi brothers at a party.
  14. Jonathon Toews - come on down! Seriously, who does Chicago have that they would be willing to give up that we would want? They aren't going to trade Kane, Hossa, Toews, Seabrook or Duncan Keith, that's for sure.
  15. Well I would like to see Henoc settle in to a long term deal here. Of course, I would also like to see Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn traded to the Jets for Enstrom and Burmi so clearly I am just delusional.
  16. not sure why they would rush Connor into the line up. I'd like to see him stay in college one more year and show us his stuff at the World Juniors. Why wasn't he on the US WJ team this year?
  17. clear space for Enstrom too!
  18. yeah I know, those guys are pretty sketchy...:)
  19. Something he will learn from eh? Where have we heard that before. Wear a cheap track suit to practice today Evander as it's probably going to end up shredded in the shower.
  20. Muamba back at LB with Hurl and Bucknor both on the bench/traded makes me...
