This made me laugh as I was totally expecting this. Of course Trudeau can be "hands off" with the media, especially right now, because they are just going to lob him softballs and extol his virtues, which is the same exact treatment his daddy got. You guys can bash me for this (and I know you will) but the media treats the Conservatives and the NDP/Liberals differently. I've seen it with my own eyes (and please don't ask me for specific examples). Trudeau can be a media darling because they'll give him tons of leeway, and aren't asking "gotcha" questions that they loved asking the Conservatives. Now that being said, if the media does turn on him eventually (except for the CBC, who will be loyal and in love with JT until doomsday) then we'll see if he starts getting more Harperish in how he controls his message. That will be interesting. Ok one example - I just remembered this: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/07/16/john-baird-cbc-journalist-reporter-gaza_n_5592756.html Will Trudeau be asked a question this stupid by the CBC? I highly doubt it. And this is an example of the kind of crap the Conservatives had to deal with every day. I don't agree with the controlling of the message, but I do see why it was done.

actually, Kelowna went Liberal in the 1968 election thanks to Trudeaumania. Other than that one election,, it was always Conservative/Reform. The Liberal candidate did a lot of work (I'm not in his riding) from what I saw, he had tons of signs up and claims that he knocked on thousands of doors, according to an interview I saw. He also had the Club Penguin guys on his side, and they brought a lot of clout. From what I saw and heard, he deserved the win. I just think that just like in 1968, this is going to be a one-term Liberal riding.

Pennington pitching. That was just weird.

That link says that he was drafted by the Ravens, but it was actually the Raiders. -
Looks like Justin's first act was to call Obama and tell him that Canada is pulling our six flying museum artifacts out of bombing missions in Iraq. He gave no timelines as to when, and they were scheduled to be pulled out in five months anyway. I am sure Obama got a good laugh about that one. Anyway, Justin is keeping his promises.

I think every generation thinks "we have it way harder", and "times are totally different now then they used to be", but in reality, as you said, things do repeat. I look at how hard my dad had it, and he had it great compared to his dad. I honestly don't know why there is this persisting myth that the future is so bleak. The sky is the limit for kids today. It really is. And that's a great thing.

You sound like a lot of baby-boomers I know who voted for the first Trudeau in 1968. They too felt that it was time for the younger generation to take over from the old guard, and the "Just Society" was the way to go. They ended up being pretty disillusioned though in the end with how things worked out, and many I talk to regretted their decision. I don't think that the expectations for Trudeau 2.0 are nearly as lofty as they were for the first one, and I also don't think this Trudeau will govern the same way. He seems far more inclusive than his old man, and I hope I am right on that. As Canadians now are much different than Canadians then....... I don't think so. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I saw Lisa LaFlamme interview McKay and she asked him that question. He said no. He just had another baby. And he's getting a nice big pension. Why go back to the circus in Ottawa? Who needs it?

Your comment about "shy Tories" and how they affected the polls in England really made me think of all of the people that have told me this election "I'm voting Conservative, but don't tell anyone", including this morning. It makes me wonder how many people are in that same boat. I look at all of the personal attacks made on the two of us here, and it really is a reflection of why people are downright afraid to speak up anymore unless they say they are voting Liberal or New Dumb. It's not worth the aggravation and the insults. Just quietly vote Conservative, and move on, without having to be yelled at by imbeciles. In real life - as in life outside of this forum - I am the exact opposite of a shy Tory. Try having a discussion about anything but Conservative with a bunch old farmers in a rural coffee shop - then you'll learn what a true roasting is. You forget that I'm from the same kind of rural area. I think I'm pretty right-wing, then I go to the Chicken Chef in Niverville and I feel like I'm Bernie Sanders.

Looking at Wade I was going to guess bacon grease.

I don't mind the GST hike, but the carbon tax we have here in BC really burns my butt. It's not really fair to poor people, who have to heat their houses somehow. And it's just another tax. It has nothing to do with helping the environment.

Edmonton Oilers LOL (perhaps Calgary Flames LOL)

Yak has screwed me in prior pools so I was gun-shy to grab him. I did get Hall pretty high though, probably could have waited a round or two, and then some bozo in my pool grabbed McDavid way before I was ready. I did take Ehlers with my final pick though. Everyone looked at me squirrelly, and said "Who?" -
yeah the pressure-cooker of waiting to see if the other teams will **** the bed just as hard as you can be stifling...

The NDP here in BC tried the same campaign in 2013. Every time you asked the NDP why I should vote for them, I'd get something like "CHRISTY CLARK SUCKS!!" or something similar. I'd say, ok, no argument here, but other than that, why should I vote NDP? And I'd just get this confused look, like they hadn't really thought that far ahead. When you don't give people reason to vote for the devil they don't know, they chose the one they do know.

I wouldn't say that. I'm too polite to be boastful. LOL - thanks for that, good belly laugh.

Was he also flabbergasted when people told bald-faced lies in front of him, and almost no one disagreed with it, or attacked the guy that pointed out the lies? Just curious if indeed, this comparison is relevant.

You have so many posts like this, where you insult people with differing opinions, yet you are surprised and upset and you get attacked in return. You could have made the exact same post without the insults and it would have carried a lot more weight. Yes I am quietly moving on though. And if I insulted anyone with differing opinions, I roundly apologize. If anyone here who posted blatant lies feels insulted because I called them a liar, I say too bad - you need to accept the consequences if you want to post lies. As for the being yelled at by imbeciles, I wasn't referring to anyone here (though I see now that it could be taken that way). I was referring to other boards and Facebook pages I've been on, where the negativity and the anti-Harper stuff is just off the charts. Sorry if I offended you Bigg Jay. haha this is like when you tell a significant othe that "I'm sorry you feel that way" should have saved the keystrokes. Glad I didn't, as I was actually talking to Bigg Jay. Bigg Jay - did I waste my keystrokes? I hope not. I will say this, you and Sweep sure are much smarter than me, that much I've learned from this election. You guys know everything, no doubt about that.

You hire a coach who is brain dead and makes playing hockey terrible for these guys that's what happens. Seriously Yakupov considered quitting because of Dallas Eakins. Now that they've flushed that turd and the turd that hired him things are going to improve and the bitching and moaning from everyone about the draft picks is going to be fun to watch. Yup, I see now the Oilers have put together the pieces to start a long dynasty run, kind of like how they looked in 1980 when Gretzky was just getting going.
