Why do you say that? Before he was drafted, he said it was his lifelong dream to play for the Bombers. You think the Riders 0-6 start to the season has made him fall in love with Regina? Yeah there's so much else that makes you fall in love with that town... -
Bomber game 30 years ago
kelownabomberfan replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I was definitely at a game in the early 1980's between Winnipeg and BC where it rained and play was suspended. I think it was 1982. Vic Rapp was coaching the Lions. I remember we always called him Vic Crapp because of course, we hated the Lions. I loved those BC Sucks chants. So true in so many ways. The Bombers won the game, just checked - it was August 8th, 1982. The moral of the story is, don't play on August 8th in Winnipeg if you don't want to be rained on. -
Or like a lot of people I know who post on FB, she is trying to appear hip and cool to the other moms in her social circle. It's always easy to say "get rid of Harper" when you don't care about how bad the alternatives are, just like its easy to say "we should be spending more on (insert basically anything here) but those Conservatives are such jerks" without worrying about the costs and how they will be paid for. Of course, if you do ask anybody how things will be paid for, it's simply "raise corporate taxes". Yup. It's sooooooo easy.

I was just on the phone with a guy who played linebacker for the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1985, and he was telling me about a game in Winnipeg in 1985, August 8th to be exact, that he was playing in. The Bombers won it 58-15. He said the Roughies just got crushed, and the Bomber defence just destroyed them. During the game, he said to the Ottawa defence in the huddle "hey at least it isn't raining" at which point the skies opened and lightning hit one of the goalposts, and the game had to be suspended, like the Argo-Hamilton game yesterday. Does anyone remember this game? I don't, because for some reason I am pretty sure I wasn't there, even though it would have been in the days when we had season tickets. Anyway, pretty funny to hear first-hand what it was like playing against the Bombers in those days, and getting destroyed in our barn. He said every team feared playing Winnipeg at home in those days.

Or he mouthed off to Chamblin. Orders from Taman - he thinks they can find someone older and more expensive. Currently leaving frantic messages on Allen Pitt's voicemail. Geroy - paging Geroy...Milt looks in fine shape as well...nothing is off the table right now. -
It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

I wonder if Richardson was called in and released or this morning he just found a mustard-stained Subway napkin in his locker with "you are released - BT" scrawled on it. -
The same concept should go for government unions that require workers to join unions as part of their job. People should have the freedom to "opt out" of their union and keep their union dues in their pockets. It shouldn't be mandatory membership. Of course, if this actually happened, most government unions would collapse almost over night.
-
LOL - what he meant was "the Company will tell you what was really said and done, as opposed to the massive pile of bullshit we feed you". Yeah unions as they stand now really have past their best before date. I get that they are still needed to some extent but on the other hand, they really seem to only serve to perpetuate the union bureaucracy rather than protect and serve members. The expenditure of millions of member dues on political campaigns in support of the NDP really is sickening and shouldn't be allowed. No special interest group should be able to spend money that it receives in this way, in support of any party. It's just morally wrong. Just like watching the BCTF here in BC spend millions of dollars supporting the BC NDP, all because they know the BC NDP will bend over and give them whatever they want, at the expense of taxpayers, students and parents. Barf.

Still more interested in what happened. Did he and Chamblin have a blow-up? -

what the hell happened there? Is he worth a look? Especially if Nic Moore is hurt long-term? -
I still don't get why unions get to spend so much money they take from members' cheques on political ads. Wouldn't the members be better served by lower union dues, rather than political statements being made on their behalf that they may not even agree with? I don't get how the system allows this. I also don't get how the NDP thought it was totally cool to house union members who weren't even working for the NDP in their office in Toronto, rent free. That office is paid for with donations, that taxpayers give credits out for, and here's union members just sitting and working in NDP offices. That was a FACT, and it should piss everyone off.

And you know as well as I do that just listing negative stuff that you are fed by the NDP propaganda machine isn't enough to make people vote for Mulcair. The NDP always wants to take the easy road, and point fingers rather than say what they would do better. And that's a recipe for failure.
-
You are doing a fine job of that yourself. I love it when leftists use the word "facts", and then go ahead and start spouting a bunch of manufactured garbage instead. And even if there is a kernel of truth to what you are saying, you still aren't telling me why the other guys are better. And if you can't, then people 99 times out of 100 will pick the devil they know.

Ok... And then you totally contradict yourself. Sorry, but fear-mongering on Harper is promoting an agenda, whether you want to admit it or not.
-
LOL? That quote is exactly right. Especially with what we know of Harper for 10+ years. We know what Harper has done...and people still want to vote for him? That is what is irrational. LOL indeed. Mr. Dee is trying to do what the BC NDP tried and failed to do in our election here in BC. Say nothing about what your party is going to do differently, and just point at the other guy and say "he's bad so vote for me". That doesn't work. Especially when you are the NDP, and you come with the stink of all of those failed provincial governments wafting all around you.

Well the Libs really had no competition in the 90's, That and they balanced the books and the economy was Web 1.0 After Quebec 4 years ago and Alberta this year I can see the NDP winning. Okay so im looking at the polls too. Would mean a major shift towards younger voters. Alberta's provincial election was a special case - the right was fractured and allowed the NDP to come up the middle. It was the same reason why the Liberals always won elections in the 1990's. The federal landscape is completely different. The NDP may win second place in a lot of ridings in Alberta, but that and $5 gets you a latte at Starbucks.

I've disagreed with a lot of Harper's policies over the years, but on the whole I still think he was the better choice than who he was up against in 2011. I think Jack Layton should have disclosed he was dying, as it would have affected the polls significantly, and it should have. If he had disclosed that there was a good chance he wasn't going to be around within six months after the election the NDP might have been spanked down a lot, especially in Quebec. Anyway, that aside, one of the worst moves Harper made in my opinion was lowering the GST. If he had kept it at 7% instead of 5%, we'd have $14 billion more in tax revenue coming in right now that would erase a lot of deficits and pay for a lot of programs, especially veterans, who get a raw deal, no matter who is in government. I wouldn't mind if the NDP raised the GST by a point, if it meant they stopped mucking around with corporate tax rates. Don't fix what isn't broken NDP, especially considering the NDP know almost nothing about corporate entities, or economics for that matter.

Is she hot? I agree we need pics here. She was very HOT! In addition, usually drunk by half time. The perfect combo. Skinny and drunk with big ****, that kind of perfect combo. BUT Nooooooooo, I had some morals. I had some ethics. I was a complete idiot. Now I'm just stuck reminding myself of her from time to time when, well you know. All of that AND a Bomber/football fan? You found the Great White Buffalo! http://youtu.be/Nl6__lNxh-M -
Jace Daniels was injured on last game also. I saw him limping (can remember which foot) and waving to the sidelines asking for substituion but he then goes back to the line and played thru it. Shades of the Cal Murphy days..there was no injury a bit of tape couldn't fix.

So you haven't had a drink since 1990? That's hardcore man. Respect. No I wish. I didn't celebrate the win properly as I thought the Bombers were just going to keep winning Cups so it didn't matter if I didnt go ape-****. The 80's spoiled me. -
LOL! Classic. Just don't show Noeller. He hates gifs.
-
Yeah I wish they would stop those stupid ads. The Conservatives have so much money to spend, they have to do it somehow. Too bad it's not on something positive.

Not getting ****-faced after the 1990 Grey Cup because I thought I would wait until the next Cup to really tie one on.
