  3. Isn't he on a bye this week?
  4. Yeah. Our traffic is worst in the nation right now. We're expecting to add a Winnipeg to our population in the next couple decades and we're absolutely terrible at building infrastructure. We're replacing a downtown viaduct with a boondoggle waterfront tunnel that was conceived by the creationist goofballs at the Discovery Institute. Our geography is awful for traffic, we're nothing but hills and lakes, so traffic is funneled onto a few choked thoroughfares. On top of that, we have no effective mass transit system. Our one downtown-airport train line covers maybe 5% of the population. When we bought our house last year, I made damn sure it was located on that train line. It's like iso said, any NHL team here would have transportation issues playing weeknight games. (sorry to rant but holy crap Seattle is bad at transportation and infrastructure.) Went to a Seahawks game in 2012. Never driving again! What a disaster.

  6. Here's something to put the drought into perspective - I was watching the 1990 Grey Cup game the other day, and Rod Connop was playing on the Edmonton offensive line in that game. In the first game of the season this year, the Bombers faced Rory Connop, Rod's son, who is a rookie on the Rider defensive line. Rory was born on December 27, 1990. Since the last time the Bombers won a Grey Cup, Rod Connop had a son, that son grew up, and is now playing in the CFL. It just boggles the mind.
  7. I hate to admit it, but ISO was probably right to continue harping on about how we should have hired Higgins. A little grey hair on the sidelines would sure go a long way right now (or bald scalp in the case of Higgins). That being said, how old was Bud Grant or Mike Riley when they took over the reins?
  8. I hear what you are saying. I was rewarded early on in my Bomber experience by the 1984 Grey Cup win, but before that, going back to the late 70's, the Bombers were always competitive and good, and it was only because of those bleepin' Eskimos that the Grey Cup win didn't come sooner for me. The fans going to those games in the 1980's were still fans that remembered the Kenny Ploen Bud Grant dynasty days, like my dad, so there was still a lot of passion. That passion has definitely waned, and it's due to the fact that Bombers have been so bad for so long. There are no memories for the younger crowd of days of yore when the Bombers would go out and just beat the snot out of other teams.
  9. you are being way too positive. I want to say "there's no such thing.." but..........Spuds......... Yeah Spuds takes it to an all new level. About half-way to Rider-ville. Spuds is the Moosomin of Bomber fans.
  10. Are we so far gone as a country that only Saskatchewan maintains sane voters? So sane that they elected an MP who believes that children ought to carry guns to school. When I was in grade five I brought my pappy's shot-gun to school, and the principal called me in to the office. To show me his 12 gauge and compare notes on different types of ammo.
  11. Gord Miller really developed a complex lately where he thinks he's the smartest guy in the booth. If he'd just stick to doing play by play he'd be fine but he drifts into the colour commentary role too often that it really ruins his broadcasts for me. Cuthbert is the best play by play man in the business and it's not even close. Dunigan is the best colour man but it's mostly cause he's just a football fan having a blast on the air. Suitor is terrible and Duane Forde is trying too hard to be colourful. If he'd go back to just being the boring persona I'd like him a lot more. Forde was making me laugh with the OH HELL NO comments after the Sharknado intro by Rod Plaque.
  12. I also liked that 12 yard hard-fought gain by Addison Richards. He just blew up that Calgary DB. It would be great if we could use him more. I was scared that Richards would just be Hargreaves 2.0 but he seems to be capable of fighting for yards, and his speed wasn't bad either.
  13. I do take the emergence of Darvin in this game as a positive. Maybe just maybe Willy will look to him in that split second when he goes through his reads, instead of just looking for Denmark or Moore.
  14. I don't think there has been an RB this year who hasn't dragged Hurl like a rag doll down the field.
  15. yeah I am hopeful that MOS starts going for two more often. Hopeful. But not expectant.
  16. Oh please, after sitting through the shittiest of shitty games in that stadium losing by one point in a game that came down to the very end that's a step up, especially since they won there last year. We found a new way to lose in McMahon again. Playing better and losing by a point is still a loss. Spoken like someone who hasn't sat through those games in Calgary for nearly a decade. Trust me that was the best game I've seen the team play in Alberta since I've lived here. Yeah it's a sad statement but progress isn't always leaps and bounds. Actually, I've seen lots of games in McMahon. I used to have season tickets and Red and White club spots. There were games where Calgary scored so many TD's that I thought we were trying to kill the horse. Sure, we played better, but we still lost so the demons still very much alive. Ah those were the days. Kerwin Bell, even Dunigan...we always seemed to find a way to lose, or get totally killed, in Calgary. I did enjoy the early 80's though when Calgary really sucked. We'd go in there and just smoke Calgary every time. Dieter would go hog wild.
  17. Time to bring Joe "the Toe" Poplawski out of retirement...
  18. I watched that Parades kick-off five times in a row, and I have to say that the evidence as to whether Stouds actually touched that ball on the six yard line or not is inconclusive. Either way it was a cluster-freak.
  19. According to Brad Wall's ads during the game, they seem pretty proud they aren't NDP anymore. I can see that logic.
  20. Oh did he? I thought it went over his head. Either way it was just plain bone-head. He was snake-bit that entire game.
  21. I blame CR for the head-ache I've had all day today...
