  1. Yeah I just don't get the Marve hate around here. Like he was supposed to fail, but didn't, and its pissing people off. I have watched Marve now all last year, and in the Toronto pre-season game. This kid needs reps. The talent is there. That being said, I'm not overly upset that he didn't get thrown into the Tiger-Cat den yesterday. The whole O-line seemed to forget how to block for some reason.
  2. Were the CHL kids and the USHL kids kind of keeping to their separate groups? The CHL kids probably all know each other, as well as the USHL kids probably all know each other, but there's no doubt been limited interaction between the two groups. Was Chase Deleo at the camp? He'd kind of be a bridge to both sides, given he played on the US National World Junior team.
  3. That throw by Willy that led to an INT was a wobbler that looked like it slipped out of his hand. Willy must not be ready either...
  4. Yeah throw those two out there (Lemieux and Lowry) with a skill guy like Armia and you might just have dynamite. Love to see them try that combo in training camp.
  5. The intangible with Petan is that he is a real leader/character guy. I saw it when I went to the Kelowna/Portland game here in the playoffs. The whole team looked to Petan for guidance all the time on the ice, he was always directing traffic on the power-play and telling guys where to go. He will be in the game somewhere, if not with Winnipeg then someone else. Stu Barnes 2.0.
  6. Prediction - Hefney makes great play breaking up a pass and then promptly takes a 10 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike.
  7. Get the evil MB to like him.
  8. Proud to say that I have no idea what that means.
  9. Yeah I don't mean that I think Lemieux isn't going to be a good player for the Jets, and a potential leader on the ice like his dad was, but I just found his high penalty minutes and plus/minus a bit disconcerting, in that to me it might be a sign of not being disciplined.
  10. A lot of people?
  11. I do enjoy watching Montreal take a good beating. I'll be watching, CR in hand.
  12. Unless you let your thoroughbred out of the barn to run the race, you are never going to know if you could have won the Kentucky Derby. That being said, in hindsight I'm ok with not playing Marve yesterday. But I would strongly think about giving him first team reps this week, and then giving him a whole half against Montreal. It's time to see what he can do, with actual prep, and plays drawn up for him.
  13. Khalif Mitchell....calling Khalif Mitchell....
  14. You would think a kid would be happy to sign with any team that wanted him. The whole I won't sign with you thing is so last century/Lindrosian. I liked Lemeieux's point totals with Barrie but his penalty minutes were pretty high and he also had a pretty bad +/- rating. Season Team GP G A PTS +/- PIM 2014-15 Regular Season Barrie Colts 57 41 19 60 -9 145 2013-14 Regular Season Barrie Colts 65 27 26 53 -5 145 2012-13 Regular Season Barrie Colts 42 6 8 14 2 52 Total 164 74 53 127 -12 342 The table won't post properly, but he played 164 games with Barrie, had 127 points and 342 penalty minutes, and was a career -12. On a pretty good team.
  15. Definitely going to Penticton this year to watch the young stars, especially the Jets. Ehlers should be owning people again like last year. I picked Johnny Gaudreau in my pool last year (and won because of him) purely from what I saw him do at that camp. I knew he was going to be lights out awesome.
  16. I don't think it is over the top. Did you not watch that awful performance yesterday??? Brohm threw TWO pick sixes!! I'd prefer a mustache-twirling Tom Porras to that right now.
  17. I think you are confusing fanbois with fans who just want to see a QB in for us who is going to have the best chance of winning. With Willy's noggin getting a'floggin' (Ned Flanders h/t) a lot of us don't see Brohm as that guy.
  18. I've been waiting for him to poop his pants and he hasn't done it yet. Meanwhile, I watched Brohm play the whole second half weighed down by pants full of poop. I'm not sure how wishing one of our most promising QB prospects in years poops his pants helps the team, or anyone for that matter, but what happens if Marve goes in and lights it up? Five years from now are you guys still going to be waiting to do the Nelson "Ha ha" when Marve eventually does have a bad outing?
  19. I picked Marshall this week so I'm good, but does it still count if LH misses the convert?
  20. Nothing is going to fix that noodle arm though. He throws Max Hall-like rainbows that take an hour to get to the target.
  21. That reminded me of the hit Kuale laid on Buck a few years back. Or the time Buck got creamed by Craig Butler. Or the time that Edmonton linebacker (can't remember his name) nailed Glenn.
  22. Yeah, and? And? Ok i will try to make this easy for ya,its like leaving your goalie in when he has let in 10 goals and then stating we may need him next game? See? Let me make this easy for you. You leave the backup QB in to give him reps...to get more practice so that he's ready for the next game. You don't pull him and shatter what confidence he has to put in another backup QB. And what if the 3rd stringer sucks too? You going to pull him to put in yet another backup? Were you not around when Burke did that **** to this team and completely destroyed all the QB's we had with what little confidence they had? The Bombers should roll with Marve for as long as Willy is out because Brohm offers no upside and has not demonstrated an ability to throw nor run the ball. He is awful in every sense of the word. When Brohm was running that sneak into the endzone I honestly thought that I had hit the slow mo button on my remote by accident.
  23. Sometimes when I read posts like this I honestly think I must live in an alternate universe, and some here are definitely in dreamland. Do you guys just pass out automatically when Marve is on the field? Is that why you can't see what he does on the run? I also don't get this need by some here to crap on Marve. Why don't you like him? Did he pee in your corn flakes or something? No one here is crapping on Marve. What we're doing is laughing at those of you who think Marve is some kind of savior. You just called him deadly accurate. He's not, and the stats show that. Marve's fancy footwork distracts everyone from the fact that he's still green behind the ears. yeah yeah the stats show that blah blah blah. Go and watch that home game again from last year against Calgary. He threaded a twenty yard pass on the run while being chased right into the arms of Brett Carter. I can count probably on one hand how many Winnipeg QB's I've watched over the past 20 years who could have made that throw, and completed it, on target. That's talent that you can't teach.
  24. Saying he's got the most "innate talent" since Clements and Dunigan would suggest that he's more talented than every QB since, would it not? no it would not. But that's beside the point. Collaros doesn't play for the Bombers. If he did, and I was arguing to play Marve over Collaros, then perhaps your argument would have merit. It would be insane hyperbole to suggest that Marve is better than Collaros at this point, because he isn't. But he's all we've got. And I think he has a lot of talent.
