  1. 1 hour, 12 minute mark. Watch from there.
  2. Income tax is the best way to ensure income equality in any country. Any country where the people, especially the extremely wealthy, don't pay much if any tax, the country is a complete ****-hole. Greece is a great example. How those bozos snuck into the EU I'll never know, as the Germans etc. should have known they'd be the weakest link, and drag down the entire EU with it. And I like how the Greeks decided rather than pay back what they owe, they just voted for the guy that said he would never pay any of it back. Brilliant. We are extremely lucky to live in a country founded on principles where everyone is supposed to have a shot at a win, if they give it an honest effort and learn some skills. The hopelessness of some of the people I've met in other countries is really depressing, as they are stuck in a corrupt system designed for them to lose, 100% of the time.
  3. I hope you get a good crowd! That's women's "football" actually worth watching!
  4. I can take Willy at $225K (they've priced him the same as other teams' backups) or Crompton at $240. Mike Reilly at $300K and Adarius Bowman at receiver makes it a sure bet that I have to take unproven rookies at every other position, as well as Ottawa for defence.
  5. I think what we are actually saying is that he should be on the O-line, not on ST as a punter. That kid looks like he just ate Swayze Waters.
  6. just wondering who in Calgary beat him out. Was he better or just younger and cheaper?
  7. yes whoever is doing the pricing is a bonehead. They need to raise the cap. Taking Cornish is basically impossible. What's the point of pricing players to the point where no one can take them. It just tells me these guys haven't even tested it out or tried to create any starting line-ups, they just randomly priced players and away they went.
  8. Brad Mikoluff #74. He still has eligibility for the Rifles, so if the Bombers like him, they can keep him as a non-counter all year. He is able to practise with the Bombers and play with the Rifles. It's a nice insurance deal for the Bombers because if they need a punter in a pinch, they can sign and dress him and he already knows the playbook, the players, and the coaches. This is a special deal open to all CJFL players who didn't play CIS. Each CFL team can have up to 4 local junior players in camp under this program. I suspect that the Bombers will keep both Mikoluff and Braedy Will around this year. Self edit: If he does dress for a regular season game, he loses the special status. At that point he would have to sign a contract and be a "counter". Not the camera adding 10 pounds - that guy looked THICK. If other teams try to block one of his punts he could/should go all Nelson Munz on them. I honestly thought that was picture of Stan Mikawos. Stan wore #77 I believe.
  9. Is that the number his grandfather wore?
  10. I don't know if people remember the show that TSN did on the Argos behind the scenes a few years ago but on one show they focused on Lin J Shell for an episode and how much he does to help youth football in Florida and getting kids out of gangs and off the streets. I wish him all the best, and if he can help the Bombers this year, I hope he enjoys his one last year in the sun.
  11. Marve's message to the defences of the league....
  12. That guy has the butt of an o-lineman...
  13. Who won the game in Calgary last year? I'm trying to remember...
  14. I'd avoid starting any Cabadians. Heard bad things...
  15. He needs to learn how to pass. It's just way too easy to defend him now. After a couple runs, Hamilton started using a delayed blitz, filling all the gaps up front and daring Marve to make a good throw from the pocket. That is what will happen if he doesn't progress, everyone knows what's coming. Watching Marve in the TO game (and I still am mad at TSN for not showing the Hamilton game) I just don't get the tag on him that he can't pass. Ken Ploen wasn't exactly the prettiest passer either. Marve made a beauty pass for a TD in the TO game to Tuinei. He's no Ricky Ray, I'll give you that, but he's also no Tim Tebow either. Or Justin Goltz. He gets the ball there a lot of the time. What I see now is that he just needs playing time to get the timing down. Then look out. He could tear up this league, Tom Clements style, if given a chance.
  16. I know Ritchie said you lose one game for every rookie in your line-up. So what's that going to do for our record this year? How many rookies do we have starting this year? I get the whole veteran thing, but you can find veterans under the age of 30 out there. You can have a few wily older guys, but when your whole team is over 30, then you have a problem. More than just one problem. EDIT - I see 11 guys on our main roster that are CFL newbies (and other new guys who are coming here with CFL experience like Gibson, Bryant and Hurl). How many are starters?
  17. Delbert Fowler, Aaron Brown. Man we had a good corp of LB's back then.
  18. They just need Kit Cartwright to come in to help Durant with the offense and the 2008 mirror would be complete.
  19. I still laugh when I hear Schultzie whine during TSN panels about having to be on the OL with Winnipeg's linebackers constantly blitzing and Tyrone Jones running by him all night destroying the QB. Must not have been fun to play against those guys.
  20. Buddhist camps? Who are you, Richard Gere?
  21. CFL News @CFL_News #Riders could have 5 defensive starters who are 30 or older. #CFL via @robvanstone and CFL News @CFL_News #Riders offence could include as many as eight starters who are 30 or over. #CFL via @robvanstone Taman was never big on youth.
  22. That's what he said last year as well...so in his mind he doesn't think that Marve has progressed. It makes me think they will never think he has progressed whether he has or not. They probably hate him and it's become personal. I don't know what else it could be. Kind of a modern-day Cinderella story here, with Willy and Brohm being the ugly step-sisters.
  23. We are also incredibly lucky to have a political and economic system in place designed to ensure that the majority of the wealth generated by the exploitation of resources goes back to the people. Some will say that it's not enough, but those people I find will always say it's not enough, even if the number is 100%. What you have to understand is the mentality of a lot of the rest of the world. When I was Egypt for instance, I was trying to explain the concept of universal health care to people there, even ones who couldn't speak English and were dirt poor. Even the ones who lived hand to mouth, liked the idea of free health care, but when they asked me who paid for it, and I said "everybody, via taxes", they'd shake their heads and say "no way, I'm not paying for my neighbour's health care, I'm not sick so I shouldn't have to pay". The entire concept of sharing resources is just lost on a lot of the world. Everyone is conditioned to take whatever they can, and screw everyone else. Dog eat dog. And until that cycle changes, you are going to have giant slums and huge chunks of the population sitting in filth and squalor. Travelling through Myanmar, I couldn't believe that so much of the rural population doesn't even have electricity, because the generals there just steal everything, leaving almost nothing for capital infrastructure. Same goes in Egypt, in pretty much every tinpot dictatorship in Africa, in Cambodia, Haiti, you name it. Zimbabwe is a crying shame. They were a first-world country only 40 years ago, and now thanks to Mugabe, they are one of the poorest, while he dines on lion and elephant at a $2 million birthday party.
