  1. If I had made travel plans based on coming to a few days of TC (and I've done it before) I'd be pretty cheesed. I think this just shows that the Bombers aren't very connected with their fanbase. BC can get away with holding training camp in Kamloops because no one in Vancouver cares. Winnipeg is different. People care. The fans are passionate. The Bombers seem to just not get that. Even the media doesn't get it. What would you like them to do? Spend a bunch of money for a couple dozen fans? That's usually the amount of people who aren't Bomber employees or people who are supposedly covering the team for local media at the TC practices I've been to other than the opening full practice which they've made into an event in recent years. Let's apply some logic and rational thinking here. Be happy to. Here's a hypothetical conversation in the Bomber office. It should have occurred early last month and involves two members of the Bomber front office. Let's call the first one Tall Forehead (TF) and the second one Deep Thinker (DT). TF: Hey DF, what should we do about training camp? It's coming up next month and we're not going to be able to use the stadium. We need to tell the fans what's happening so they can do whatever they need too. DT: Yea, I've already made a couple of calls to have bleachers set up at the practice field. Won't be the best but if we get some washroom facilities and maybe call a food vendor or two, we'll be just fine. We won't have to spend much on this but at least no one, except that maybe that 17to85 guy will be able to say we didn't try. TF: Sounds good. You want to do the announcement or should I? DT: Already done. Just sent it to the boss for approval. Hope he appreciates what we're trying to do here. Now, let's see what the actual conversation, which took place no earlier than yesterday probably looked like: TF: Hey DF, what should we do about training camp? It's coming up next week and we're not going to be able to use the stadium. We need to tell the fans what's happening so they can do whatever they need too. DT: **** the fans. They should be bloody grateful that we even let them in the stadium for games. TF: Ya, you're right. I'll get the PR folks do do up a release to remind everyone just how lucky they are. DT: Cool. By the way, how are season ticket sales going? Thanks for the guffaw. It was needed.
  2. I think you missed my point. My point was that we found out what - TODAY? that practice was going to be closed. I guess if I was going to be coming out I should have researched that women's soccer was on so that's on me, but still, the Bombers could have been more proactive here.
  3. That automatically makes it a non-issue, doesn't it? It would definitely be handled internally.
  4. Kirk Penton @PentonKirk #Bombers have signed former #Bisons QB Jordan Yantz. #CFL

  6. You know somewhere in heaven, this guy is smiling right now. EDIT to add - hopefully he's high-fiving Coach Harris during this news conference.
  7. I've been with Rogers for many years, but only because the only other option at the time was Telus, and I tried them and their network and service sucked even harder than Rogers, if that's possible. I should look at switching again. Anyone who poops on the CFL poops on me. And I don't like being pooped on.
  8. I get that. If you can jam the barn full of people wanting to watch women's soccer, and that helps pay off the debt, great. But PLAN for the fact that fans want to attend your training camp. It's really not that difficult to for see and plan for things like these, and yet the Bombers keep stepping on their dicks at every turn. I don't get it.
  9. It's not as if the Bombers knew about this soccer tournament in advance, so how could they have been proactive and planned for it until now?
  10. and this year I was even going to be thankful and tell the fans reporting from TC how important their reports were. Darn it all.
  11. Soccer and cricket will always be the same for me. Millions love both sports, yet all I see when I watch them is paint drying.
  12. You may not like the sport but it is still very popular AND our canadian women's team is unreal. If this world class event pushes our bombers out of the stadium for a week, oh well. It's not like this isn't the biggest soccer event in the world or anything.. At least now we have a reason for why we didn't win the 2015 Grey Cup...women's soccer. Our new enemy.
  13. I hate it when I'm told not to be so close-minded, it makes my head hurt.
  14. That says something. Poblah was on Toronto's Neg list prior to him being eligible Ok then it actually says nothing. My bad.
  15. That says something. The supplemental draft is tomorrow? That's not nearly enough time to build up disproportionate amounts of hype. Roll this thing back a week. And camp. And the season. It's going to be worth it. Apparently thanks to Dom Picard, Nic Moore, and the stadium debacle, Kyle is well over the cap and over budget so what's the point of drafting anybody? And then, if we do draft them, no one is going to be able to watch the guy practice at training camp. And look out if he only signs a two year deal, the world will go into full apocalypse mode.
  16. That says something.
  17. Bluto - can't wait for the update. Would really like to see the Argos at BMO field. I would assume the soccer snobs probably aren't wild about sharing the facility with the lowly gridiron team, and they are total class acts, those fans, especially the way they treat female reporters.
  18. Maybe they should do like the Lions with their Kamloops training camp, and move the entire kit and caboodle to Brandon.
  19. Wpg Blue Bombers ✔ @Wpg_BlueBombers @MorningBigBlue we'll give details on access for fans that plan on attending in the coming days, stay tuned!
  20. Live stream sounds great to me! Just make sure that it's Pied Piper doing the live stream and not those bums at Hooli...
  21. I am a fan of baseball but in the past few years I find I can only stomach a few innings and then I can't take it anymore. Just not enough action.
  22. At camp in 2013 I woulda ranked him 2nd behind only Buck... Buck, Yantz, Hall, Goltz, Chase something (I forget the guy's name) ... then again, there wasn't much to be excited about that year... Chase Clement.
  23. yes it would be hard to top Kito Poblah all right. His career so far has been Etienne-esque... Count me in on the band waggoner...
