  1. Compare building a football team to building a car. The OL is the engine. Receivers are the spoiler. If your spoiler falls off, your car does not go hurtling into the ditch. That's my point. OL is much more important than WR.You're missing HIS point....receivers are way more important than a spoiler on a car. They're more like the tires... Brock Ralph was the seat belt.
  2. Yeah - totally with ya bud!! Right on - all you people who left can suck it!
  3. Here in Kelowna I cringe when the Rockets play a US team because every time, without fail, the crowd has to yell "Rockets" during the part of the US anthem that goes "Rockets red glare". Back in the early 2000's they had a goalie named "Guard" so they had to yell "guard" all the time too during the Canadian anthem. So I yell "True North" just to mix things up.
  4. and 100 years of inbreeding
  5. https://vimeo.com/125401642 This is funny, and probably not that far from the truth either.
  6. I shout it out at Rockets games, just to give the old people around me a bit of a startle.
  7. Hope Morley can find a home on another team. He showed last year that he still had some football left in him, especially at center.
  8. I didn't hear of any Bomber players being tossed in the shower for disrespecting the team or the coach. The Jets have their problems, the Bombers have theirs. The Jets aren't perfect either, and get cut a lot more slack than the Bombers do too, in my humble opinion. I really like the direction that Kyle and Wade have taken. Job one was finding a QB. Job 2 was putting quality scouting in place, in Canada AND the USA. Job 3 was finding a good coaching staff. They've done that. And we're about to see those moves finally bear fruit this year.
  9. LOL - like Doan would go for that deal. He'd never come back. Let me sign those papers right now.
  10. Eberle is far too soft. Fill this team with 6ft 4 inch tough guys who can skate. Preferably North American. And yes I realize I sound like Don Cherry but I don't see how else we get by Anaheim and LA.
  11. All I've heard from Toronto people is that they don't go to Argos games because of Skydome, but go to FC games because of the atmosphere at BMO. If the Argos can't make it work at BMO then I just give up on those douchenozzles in Toronto.
  12. Rockets lose game 2 so definitely going to game 5 on Friday. Bittner had a goal in game 2.
  13. Rockets take game one! http://globalnews.ca/news/1960885/kelowna-rockets-take-game-one-against-portland-in-the-western-conference-final/
  14. They just have to stick together as a team, they'll be all right. http://globalnews.ca/news/1952078/winnipeg-jets-dustin-byfuglien-gives-media-marshawn-lynch-treatment/
  15. I am now definitely going to go to a Rockets game, at least if it goes to a game five anyway. I will report back on all four guys - Petan, Morrissey, De Leo and Bittner. But, I will add this caveat, you guys better appreciate me for doing this.
  16. I saw enough of Buff's antics and costly penalties to at least ask the question - "what can we get for him in the market"? I would at least try and find out. I don't say let's just pull the plug, but I'd be dangling him out there, and Enstrom too. If you can swing a deal like we got for Kane and Bogo, where you can pry an elite player like Myers out, with some solid prospects, jump at it.
  17. And going too old and slow has its costs too. Look at how young Calgary is, and how old and slow Vancouver is.
  18. Edmonton's luck is finally turning. They haven't had a run this good since Gobuty refused to pony up for Gretzky and he was handed to Pocklington on a silver platter. http://www.fiveminutesforfighting.com/2013/08/wayne-gretzky-trade-winnipeg-jets.html
  19. No microbrew! And no antiquing! Wouldn't putting you, 17 and Noeller in the same room by definition be antiquing? Post of the off-season right here. I may have giggled out loud. I may have also been given a funny look or 3 for said giggle.. It has a lot of ironic value as well, as I'm actually a 13 year old girl pretending to be a forty-something-old dude. Speaking of crotchety old dudes, where's ISO been?
  20. According to this mock draft - http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/ - the Jets would take Paul Bittner at #17, who also plays for the Winterhawks. #7 Paul Bittner Left Wing Shoots: Left Height: 6'4 Weight: 202 Birthdate: 1996-11-04 Hometown: Crookston , MNBig kid! I will definitely have to go out and catch a game, hard now to cheer for the Rockets with two Jets on the Winterhawks and a third potential one there too.
  21. http://cfl.ca/article/final-scouting-bureau-rankings-released I have a feeling the guy ranked at 13th could be a hidden gem.
  22. We need more Michael Ferlands - guys who play hard but don't take stupid penalties. Buff takes too many penalties and is just too slow. If he won't play forward then it's time to move him to an NHL graveyard like Arizona or Florida where he can toil away in anonymity until he retires.
  23. No microbrew! And no antiquing! Wouldn't putting you, 17 and Noeller in the same room by definition be antiquing? Comments like this make me feel unappreciated. Sigh....
  24. No microbrew! And no antiquing!
  25. HA!I appreciate anyone who puts training camp reports up, but you sir, give the impression that this is SRS BSNS and get uppity when someone else gets more credit than you do. Definitely comes across as attention and approval seeking. For me it's all about giving credit where credit is due. That's how I am at work and it's very much appreciated by my subordinates, colleagues and my supervisors. It's not about seeking approval or attention. Different environment here I guess...which is seeking approval... how you not grasping that? Credit where credit is due is not the same as seeking approval. If he was posting solely for stature or perceived stature amongst over posters or to be accepted as part of a group then perhaps you could say he was seeking approval. But giving credit is different. Giving him credit for his had work writing and posting his reports of tc etc is different. He puts in a lot of effort to share with other people and does it for the community and not for himself. I for one would be sad to lose out on these reports because all chest pumping that goes on here a lot of the time. Appreciate the fact that gbill, mike and other contribute to this group in ways that other members like myself can't and let it go. anyways.. back today lurking... It's a ******* internet message board, if you need credit for anything you are seeking approval plain and simple. Some people around these parts definitely get off on trying to be seen as important. It's akin to having a conversation in a group and asking everyone for credit for a comment that you made. You see how shallow and ridiculous it is? It is an Internet forum, but you are pretty active on here which suggests that you find the core group of posters as friends and take pleasure in being here and discussing whatever topic is up for debate. You are getting something out of this and aren't here just because. You, I would argue, get off on arguing whatever it is you are for or against, and I've seen you flip flop just to argue against someone else. But none of this changes that seeking approval and seeking credit are two different things. If you can't see that then that's unfortunate for as I'm guessing you tend to get locked into one world view and have a hard time adjusting that as new info come up. That's cool, but it doesn't make you right. Seeking approval from you peers is not the same thing as seeking credit for your contribution. One is seeking validation from a group of your self worth. the other is seeking realization for the work you have done Now I remember why I hated the one sociology class I took in university so much.
