You totally contradicted yourself with those two sentences. First you say that Edmonton is one step ahead of us by firing Reed, then you say it's good that we are keeping Burke around for a few weeks. ?????

Until you explain where you've heard that from, I guess there's not really much to discuss. I'm not sure where the idea came from but I heard the same thing from Burke's mouth, so it must be on audio somewhere. He did have the players slotted into which players can be starters on which teams and backups etc. I haven't heard of such a system but then, who am I to argue with Burke. I heard Burke say this on the post-game commentary after the last game on CJOB.

You are right Iso, but it starts with the QB and the Coach. We never had an Oline the entire time Khari was here either.

We need a QB and a decent coach. We've had neither for a long time, and that's on Mack. Once we've got those two key pieces, everything else will fall in afterwards. Edmonton was one minute away from having just as bad a season as us, but you don't get the same feeling of despair from them. That's what a good QB gives you. Hope.

Burke is getting paid for the next two years no matter what, so he isn't dangling. He should pull a Lapo after the axe falls and get a job on TSN for the next two years so he can double-dip on paychecks. Winnipeg should be able to supply coaches for that "Coach's Playbook" segment at half time for many years to come.

So where would these guys get the news about Winnipeg being so bad? Most of the guys that come up readily admit they know nothing about the CFL or Canada until they get here. Is some agent poisoning the well? When they come to Canada, they pretty much are at the end of their professional ropes as their NFL dreams are either dead or on hold, and so it would be a case of Beggars can't be choosers, I would think.

I could see why everyone would want to leave Toronto, the better question is - why would you want to leave to take the top job with the Bombers? In Toronto at least you are free from the prying eyes of the media and fans, as there aren't any. And in Winnipeg the media is downright terrible. Stay in Toronto hotdog man.

actually, i think that JBRs 3rd rounder plus a conditional 1st isn't unreasonable. but i also think that the rights to Bilukidi is a fair offer too. heck, we're losing the guy anyway... yeah that could work. For some reason Toronto started blitzing in the second half, and Hall was able to get around it. If the Argo defence had just played the same way as the first half, the score wouldn't have been close. We probably would have only gotten another 3 points.

And the "Joey Elliot was good last year" myth continues to be perpetuated. Of the final four games we won at the ass-end of last season, Buck won two of them, Elliott one and the last game was a Brink-Goltz combo (as Elliott was injured the previous week in a loss to Hamilton where he played just plain brutal) in a game that Montreal handed to us as it was a nothing game, though Goltz looked pretty good and ran some nice plays, when Burkenstein finally pulled Brink in the 4th quarter. I'm not sure how you can say that we went 4-3 on the back of Joey Elliott, given he didn't even appear in 3 of the 4 wins. ???? PS - Elliott played in all 3 of the losses in the final seven games last year, and in those games he threw 8 INT's and zero TD's.

He's sort of like the Tim Burke of quarterbacks. He'd be a great one if he could throw the ball. Not sure why Toronto went heavy blitz in the 2nd half. Sit on routes and you are pretty much guaranteed that Hall won't complete many passes for first downs because he can't place the ball on intermediate routes, and chances are pretty good you'll be returning INTs. That said, I guess you can't quibble too much with a gameplan that limited the opposition to 20 points. The Argo defence and the uprights held the Bombers to 20 points.

I did see some Twitter exchanges today on this. One response from the Bombers was interesting - season ticket prices are still lower than Ottawa right now. Anyway, take that for what it is worth. As much as I have suffered this year I still would be a season ticket holder next year if I could.

yet watch both of them go into a system with another team that knows how to utilize them and they start to light it up. When I see Adarius Bowman catching everything that comes near him I just shake my head. That guy couldn't catch a cold with us. Also - watching Lapo gush about the "creativity" of other teams' offences on TSN really makes me wretch. He was so vanilla on offence it was just plain sad to watch.

I don't think Etienne's balls have dropped yet either...

I haven't really seen much of Buck in BC. Even with Demarco crapping the bed, they refuse to pull him in favour of Buck or Elliott. Which speaks volumes for both of those guys.
