  1. The Reinders family is loaded - they run the giant engineering firm "Maple Reinders". I know a guy here in Kelowna who works for them, who told me that Joel's dad is one of the main guys there. Maybe he'll just settle for a desk job working for dad in Toronto paying him three times what he'd make as an OL in the CFL. http://www.maple.ca/
  2. I will laugh if Buck takes the field next week for BC and does his deer in headlights impression.
  3. LOL at 17to85 still sticking to his guns re Elliott. LOL at people saying that Reilly wasn't a gamble. He was a gamble. All QB's with his level of experience are a gamble. That's life in the CFL. Good for Edmonton it worked out for them. I think for two years, Wally should be hired by the CFL with a sole mission to seed at least two good QB's on each team. Since he is apparently the only one who knows how to find good QB's in this league, it's high time that for the betterment of the league, he find the talent necessary. Especially for Winnipeg. We've suffered long enough. I do agree with 17 on one point - Reilly probably would have crapped the bed in Winnipeg, with our garbage O-line and brain-dead playbook. He definitely made the better choice going to Edmonton.
  4. ha ha well I don't recall saying that Reilly sucked, but I did point out reality, and that was that the sample size on Reilly was incredibly small, and that making him the starter before training camp was a huge gamble. It has paid off now as Reilly has performed, despite playing behind the second crappiest o-line in the league and taking a pounding that no regular human being would have survived. So congrats on the call that Reilly was going to be awesome. I guess some of us just want to wait and see before we proclaim him the next Tom Clements. Now we have seen, and we believe. I just want to know how much longer Reilly is going to make it this year. He took yet another vicious pounding yesterday.
  5. Drew Willy has looked good. I would want more than just him for Muamba though. Not sure what else, but I don't feel Willy is proven yet and so would want to see something or someone else tacked on to the deal.
  6. yeah it was 2006. I can't remember what the Bombers were wearing that night, just that it was obvious from the get go that Kevie G. wasn't going to try very hard and just wanted to get the game over with as fast as possible to get back into the locker room. I also remember Scott Coe dancing all night as he was going off the field because it was such an easy game for him. One game I was at in the 1990's it was really hot and the Bombers had some kid named Jason Djacovic(?) on their special teams. I watched as he just fainted from heat exhaustion on the sidelines. That was kind of freaky. I believe it was in the Kerwin Bell days.
  7. I can't believe that we are considering Adarius Bowman "dangerous" after how badly he **** the bed in this town. The guy couldn't catch a cold. What is it about Edmonton - they take our trash and turn it into gold.
  8. yeah I've been to more Bomber ****-kickings at McMahon then I care to remember. Still can't forget the night I had to sit through a snow storm in mid September. Man I hate Calgary weather...
  9. I disagree. The level of play is highest in the PFC. (Prairie Football Conference) The PFC, where the Rifles play, has proven to be the strongest division in the CJFL. The PFC champion won the national championship 7 of the past 10 years, and 15 of the last 20. The level of play is much stronger in the PFC than in the BCFC as demonstrated by playoff wins over the short, medium and long term. Furthermore, Winnipeg should have an advantage in that CJFL players can practice with CFL clubs, so the proximity is there. It's tougher in BC, where for example, it is a long road from the Okanagan Sun to Vancouver. The only advantage that the BCFC has is that their costs are lower, due primarily lower travel costs. Against that the Lions financially support all 6 junior team, while the Bombers only fund 1. (Primarily through a portion of 50/50 revenue) The advantage is the rights to 6 rosters worth of players compared to 1. BCs whole development system is more advanced than ours, even though their high school league plays American rules. BC and Saskatchewan produce far more CIS players than they should, Manitoba produces far less, although we are getting better. BCs junior league also has a following. They have a lot more money and a lot to offer their players in terms of scholarships and job placements depending on what players want and need. Good luck finding a dozen people who aren't related to Rifles players who care or attend their games. There's also some interest in Edmonton and the Saskatoon Hilltops. Everywhere else they play in front of crowds you could count by hand before the first series is over. The Quebec league is getting better too, and some interest in the Montreal suburbs. Gone to quite a few tailgates here in Kelowna for Sun games. One time we even deep-fried a turkey in the parking lot!
  10. yeah that makes sense. Definitely more interest for Western opponents than Eastern.
  11. I'm no Burke fan, but I'd say that the Banjo Bowl was the first game I've seen this year of Burke out-coaching his opposition. He and his staff had a great defensive game plan, and at half time, finally, they made some adjustments to the offence that had a positive effect in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Chamblin left Durant in far too long I thought, as it was obvious that Durant had checked out mentally and was just in survival mode by the fourth quarter. He was completely ineffective. And Chamblin's two challenges were both really dumb, I thought. They weren't even close. Anyway, I don't expect this out-coaching the opposition trend to last too much longer, though I think it won't take much to out-coach Kavis Reed. If Reed out-coaches our staff in the next two games, then heads should roll. The next two games should really show us who is the weaker head coach, Burke or Reed, as right now, in my mind it's still a pretty close race.
  12. what? They asked to move to the West? What?
  13. I still think Labatte would have made a great center. Too bad he was too lazy to want to learn how to play it.
  14. Last time the cash was supposedly to cover costs for flights/hotel that were already booked, because it was after the schedule was already out, correct? Think the league comes out with another reason to shoot us some bucks? Precedent set with Hamilton and Toronto getting no strings attached league money recently. They got money because they suck and needed it. We're not in that boat because we have fans.
  15. no more free pass flukes to the Grey Cup like we got in 2007 and 2011, now we have to earn it like in 1984.
  16. That being said, what did you want the Rider players to do Iso? Just stand there and be pummeled by angry Somalis with baseball bats? The Somalis control a lot of the cocaine trade in that area with the Bakken Oil fields being close by, I wonder if there is more to this story. I have a hard time believing that this was just a random attack for no reason whatsoever.
  17. Go Okanagan Sun go!!!
  18. Gang members attacking the Rough Riders in Saskatchewan? This gang doesn't want to live very long does it? Seriously, how stupid is that. This reminds me of the time that Graeme Bell took a bat over the head outside a bar in Saskatoon. What the hell is wrong with the people of Sask? Aside from being cousin-raping inbreds of course? This is going to sound weird in Saskatchewan (imo, anyways) but it was a group of Somalians. Makes sense. More likely Canadians of Somali descent. Anyway, the Somali-Canadian community is having a tough time of it these days. Even though they are born in Canada to Somali immigrants they're still having a hard time assimilating, so they're resorting to the drug trade. It's a tough issue. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/why-so-many-somali-canadians-who-go-west-end-up-dead/article4365992/?page=all
  19. Aside from being mouth-breathing inbreds of course? And what kind of "gang" operates in Saskatchewan? Do they drive around on tractors instead of motorbikes? Are they called the "Sons of Cousins"?
  20. ^^^^^ Like Brett Carter.
  21. or when you assault your combine when it breaks down.
  22. Dwight Anderson needs to go to the Mike Kelly school of Anger Management. That clown has cost the Roughriders a lot of yardage this year when he has blown his top at the officials, and now this nonsense. The Riders can afford to lose Anderson, but the Taj Smith is a tough one, that kid is just plain amazing.
