  1. no matter how much champagne you soaked that locker room it still wouldn't over power the urine...lol...
  2. And because I am a trivia buff who just can't stop with the trivia...the 1988 Grey Cup was the last Grey Cup that the Governor General of Canada (at the time being the Right Honorable Jeanne Sauve) presented to a winning football team, which just happened to be the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Here's the video evidence: Fast forward to the 9 minute mark. I assume that Bill Baker, the Commissioner in 1989, was the one who did away with the tradition of the Governor General presenting the Cup, and he was very happy to do it as he got to give the cup to his Rider buddies in 1989. I think the CFL should bring this tradition back of having the Governor General be involved. This is Canada's only true professional sport that is ours alone. The whole reason that the CFL had the Governor General present the Trophy was that the guy who commissioned the Grey Cup in the first place, was the Governor General of Canada at the time (and his dad was the one who invented Earl Grey tea). Why this tradition was ended in 1989 is a mystery to me. It struck home to me yesterday watching the Bombers go up on the stage and accept the trophy from Randy and a clearly unhappy James Duthie, and two masked anonymous RCMP officers, in an empty stadium. Time to class this Cup presentation up a bit I say, and get the Governor General back into the ceremony. This is a league with a strong tradition, let's keep it that way!
  3. I laughed out loud at first when I read this and then it suddenly hit me...this could have happened...
  4. A bit of CFL trivia for you - the Grey Cup was always played on a Saturday for a long period of its history, until 1969 when it began being played on Sundays. Of course 1970 is an exception, for some reason that year the game was played on a Saturday. So technically, the Grey Cup was played on a Sunday in 1969, on a Saturday in 1970, and ever since then, has always been played on a Sunday. Perhaps with Randy wanting to make some big changes to the game, we can move the Grey Cup to Saturday again.
  5. it might smell a little better....
  6. This is going to be every opposing team studying film on Bailey next year...
  7. was it at this press conference?
  8. Our hearts go out to you for your loss. I can't imagine. I'm glad that you were able to get some comfort last night, that makes this win even more special for me.
  9. It would be a pleasure to see Tyrone in his prime again, mentoring this crop of young bucks we have now.
  10. the ones that are still alive anyway.
  11. O'Shea going around congratulating every player after the game. What a guy, what a coach.
  12. Yes they've become the Buffalo Bills (1991-1994) of the CFL.
  13. Yes totally different eras. Can you imagine how many goals Connor McDavid would score if he was playing in 1981 instead of 2021? It wouldn't even be fair (hardly fair now!). I agree this team would crush the teams of the 1980's. Conditioning etc has changed a lot since those days. And yes, this team has a ton of talent. It just seemed most of the season we were playing in a different league than most other teams, that's how big the talent discrepancy was.
  14. We crap on Speedy B a lot here (and rightly so) but on that Darby INT he reacted quickly to tackle Darby, otherwise Darby was gone for a pick six. Speedy at least contributed something to the game there.
  15. I don't want to take anything away from this 2019-2021 team as they are very dominant, and maybe it's just my memories being foggy, but those teams in the 1980's faced some really strong opposition from teams like BC, Edmonton, and Toronto. There weren't a whole lot of free spaces on the bingo card, except maybe Ottawa. The Bombers had to be so good and on their game in those days. I'm not saying that that isn't the case now, but this season there sure seemed to be very few teams that could match up with Winnipeg, and a whole lot of garbage teams like the Elks, Red Blacks, Lions. Like I said, maybe I'm wrong, but I'd also like to see what this version of the Bombers would do against teams who were much stronger than what we saw this season. A whole lot of really bad football being played, by almost everyone except the Bombers.
  16. I don't think that we've discussed this enough....yes it was deliberate....
  17. The old Ivor Wynne stadium was a craphole. I remember Doug Brown writing a column about how bad that stadium was, basically trying to shame Hamilton into doing something about what poor condition they were keeping it in (including the lights in the visitor dressing room all being burnt out?). So they finally decide to get a new stadium, and build an old stadium. It makes no sense.
  18. The throw to Darvin in OT was one of the few times I saw ZC roll out of the pocket. Amazing what good things happen when you start utilizing the mobility of an extremely mobile QB who can accurately throw on the run...lol...
  19. yeah it's too bad they didn't spend a few bucks and do something to mitigate the wind issues. Oh well Hamilton gotta Hamilton.....
  20. Those teams we had in 1984 - 1990 were pretty darn good. We could have easily two-peated after we won in 1984, we just choked in the WF against BC in 1985, despite beating the Lions twice during the season. That was a shame.
  21. I'm not sure I would need to go on living after that if this actually happened, as my bucket list would be complete lol...
  22. We started throwing the ball a bit more because Zach had more than one steamboat to go through his reads....unlike the first three quarters where he was getting jumped on continually and had to throw check downs that went no where.
  23. All Canadians must band together to ensure that the Riders do not get to play at home in the Grey Cup. This would be a travesty and would basically make the entire game unwatchable, other than of course if the Riders are getting pounded. Then I could handle it.
  24. yeah I'm glad that Buck woke up in the second half because I don't know what that was in the first half.
