  1. It's weird not having a Bomber beat-down to look forward to this weekend, but I'm trying to find ways to pass the time until next Saturday. I had a listen to this interview with Brent Butt which was mildly entertaining... I have to admit though, when the interviewer said "we've all seen Saskatchewan win plenty of Grey Cups" I had to spit out my coffee laughing. Really? Four cups in 111 years is "plenty"?? LOL LOL LOL So that got me thinking - do most Rider fans even know how futile their franchise is, or do they think that there is some winning legacy that doesn't exist? This is just bye-week banter. Believe me most weeks I have much better things to do than contemplate such mundane thoughts.
  2. or a team whose bones they haven't picked their teeth with (yet)...lol...
  3. It didn't happen right away, but yes, switching back to the old traditional winning colours was definitely a step in the right direction. I remember thinking "finally" when they announced the switch back to the old colours. It just felt that we had been wandering in the wilderness for all those years, and had finally found the track to get out again to relive the days of yore.
  4. And if the Riders lose the WSF - "Why losing the WSF is a "blessing in disguise"....article we'll see on Monday.
  5. We needed a QB. For a short time there in 2014 it looked like we had found our guy in Drew Willy, and then we went back to wandering around in the wilderness. Matt Nichols did as much as anybody to save the Canadian Mafia and give them someone to build a team around. Let's face it, when those three guys took over it was basically scorched earth, and going right back to square one, with almost zero Canadians worth putting in the line up. And as well, a pretty toxic culture, that can't be changed over night. FIFO requires buy in from everyone, and the right guys in the locker room to buy into it. Anyway, I had my doubts along the way as well, especially in those first few years when I could see O'Shea was in a bit over his head and doing the Tim Burke thousand yard stare while the whole stadium was screaming for him to throw a challenge flag etc. But we're past all of that now. And thank goodness for that!

  7. Marcel Bellfool? LOL...
  8. hey that's cranially and personality-challenged to you....
  9. I think I was three sheets to the wind by half time and so don't remember much, just being disgusted with the score and hoping one day we would have our revenge. And yes, those are incredibly ugly uniforms. Not sure what people were thinking back then...
  10. That Greta Thunberg Arena they play in sure is pretty!
  11. hey man I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't a bye week. Good motivation for us to keep punishing teams and kicking ass!

  13. I'm thinking Finland could use Vesa and Heinola..... Keep looking lol
  14. Bird-cage lining maybe. My TP consists of Green and White paper and pictures of Chris Jones...
  15. So he's apparently saying that the Bombers were going to suck, and to "blame the schedule". But yet here I thought that the only reason the Bombers are winning is because of the schedule. So confused...
  16. The way Dave Ritchie handled it in 2001:
  17. I like that Brandon Alexander force on Reilly that caused him to throw up the ball for the Jefferson INT. The BC running back doesn't even try to block Alexander because he doesn't even see him, he's into the backfield so fast. That's a play you don't see very often.
  18. From what I've heard about Lanky, he's wasn't all that "sober" lol. One time I was watching a satellite feed of the Bomber game in a bar in St. Adolphe back in the early 1990's on CBC, and Lanky was doing the color. For some reason the commercials didn't come on and so we got to hear Lancaster speaking to his play by play guy on a hot mic, as he thought everyone was on commercial and no one could hear what he was saying. On the CBC main feed they were on commercial, but for some reason not on this CBC satellite feed. Man did he go at it with the trucker mouth during commercials! It was fun because we got to really hear what he thought of the coaches and players. That was good entertainment!
  19. in the course of my business travels I ended up trying to do a deal with a guy who played linebacker for the Ottawa ROUGHriders in the 80's. He said in those years no one wanted to play in Winnipeg, because you knew it was going to be a massive beat down, both on the field and on the score board. This was around five years ago that I met this guy. I remember fondly looking back on those years, and thinking that I probably would never see them again. Boy was I wrong. And I am very thankful that I was! No one hits harder than Winnipeg, in all three phases. Receivers are just getting smoked out there by BA and Biggie among others and you can tell that they don't want the ball. Ellingson was running away from the ball by the third quarter of that last Elk game. I can just see fans wanting to implement some sort of "Winnipeg rule" where you can't hit hard anymore. Let's just go to "two hand touch" when Winnipeg is playing lol.....
