Who said the run is not a problem?
James replied to Maudie fingerjammer's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hate to say it Spuds, but if you can't stop the run in the fourth, you can't stop the run at all... It's easily the most important Quarter you need to be able to stop the run in so that they can't run the clock out on you when you're losing I think it's very obvious our beloved team has shown incapable and even the biggest kool aid drinkers have to see that Mike O'Shea is wrong on this one -

I think If we finish 5th in the west, it doesn't matter what our record is, we will be one of two teams not making the playoffs so we will be picking second overall no? -
At least our back p can complete a pass this year lol But in all seriousness I really don't want to see Brohm playing much this year for two reasons. One, Willy is way better, two, if Brohm plays to much we will have essentially given up a 2nd round pick in a very good draft for a bad QB... I seriously want our 2nd round pick this year, and it would be nice to get someone else's as well.

Lions may not have been able to hit 250, but I bet the Stamps will.... I wonder then If O'Shea will finally open his eyes -

Now that we've proven to be back on the rails, and on the right track at that, combined with the new stadium and a great players coach in Mike O'Shea.... I bet players will not only be willing to play here, they will want to play here... So the idea that we can improve our NI content through Free Agency is no longer a dream but a strong possibility IMO -
Paris Cotton moved to practice roster

Volny did look good in his last two carries, and pass blocking is definitely a strength of his.... I don't think he should be a feature part of this offence, but I do think we should be working him in a little here and there, especially if we're not going to DI a RB. -
Especially with jake thomas in there full time

I think Grigsby's blocking has improved immensely... I often watch him in the backfield because he really pissed me off at the beginning. I can tell you that that little scit last game where the commentators were talking about his blocking was accurate IMO his receiving I'm fairly impressed with. He has legit hands at times, but it will take a while to erase some of his blunders from early in the year. His running, I think is getting much better as well... I see him pumping his legs through contact, bouncing off guys and I think his vision is getting better as well... Noticed that severely lacking earlier this year... I think he really just came in rusty from being in baseball for so long, now he's starting to get better. -

The reason some of us are so adamant that we want the run game and run defense fixed is because its integral to the success of your team. If we don't get our overall run game fixed, I bet we miss the playoffs If we somehow make the playoffs, it'll be the reason for a quick exit. -
I'm pretty sure he stripped Sunseri on the QB sneak. Just to be accurate, Kromah made the tackle on the handoff to Messam on the third down play. He jarred the ball loose. It was a great hit and a potential game changer. But, this was after he missed the tackle on 2nd and 4 in that series. Should have stopped Allen at the 40, but kinda overran the play. Washington made the big play there. Nevertheless, I definitely would prefer to see Kromah over Kuale. Kuale has had his chance. We just haven't seen enough of Kromah to evaluate him completely. He's also the one that stuffed Sunseri on the QB sneak on 3rd and short... and then stripped the ball after he stood him up

whats the low down on Pierre... can't remember much about him...
-
Yeah I agree.... I like MOS and most of his moves have been pretty good. But he can sure frustrate the living hell out of me at the same time
-
Have you honestly forgotten that Moore has missed a sh!t load of games due to injury and is STILL umber 2 on the team in yards?
-
I disagree about the strong wind... he has been running through a lot of contact as of late. He is getting better and better, hopefully he keeps improving because he isn't there just yet

The competition at defensive line and receiver was abysmal, arguably two of the easier spots to find players along with running back. I'm fine with giving a pass on finding Canadians, that takes time, but literally no one was found at receiver and one guy was found at DL, a guy who has been pretty marginal. Mack found Jeffers-Harris, Carr, Denmark and Matthews in his first 3 seasons, Hopkins, Turner, Vega, Hall, hell even a guy like Kenny Mainor. I've seen nobody close to any of those guys. Hopefully we start seeing some guys at those two spots that give us some hope for being useful players when we'll be a great team, cause Bryant and Kelly sure won't be those guys, and Greg Peach probably won't be either. Donèt forget about Chad Simpson, Will Ford, and Zach Anderson Although I do think Grigsby is getting much better And Grigsby is definitely playing hurt too
-
I think Labbe was totally better. We cant just outright cut Kuale though. there is to much risk and no reward for that. Risk being that it may have a bad effect on the locker room and no reward being that we still have to pay him anyway. Id just stick him on the injured reserve.

I agree that Howard has been playing better and that he could be good later on... I'm happy we stuck with him.. I also agree that we need to move one of our DT's out to end, but it's not Anderson... After seeing Turner at end for that last game, I think he could be pretty damn good for us if we let him play there more consistently... Get him to drop 10 or 15 pounds and he'd be dominant at DE IMO. If we get Bilukidi, I'd like a Turner/Anderson/Bilukidi/Peach DL.... Unless a new guy like Booker really impresses then start him obviously. I'd like to see the bloody Riders run on that DL! Although I guess it doesn't matter who is playing on the line when Etchevary has them all off to one side and the MLB off the edge.... What a dumb formation I'd like to see Wild Kromah and Sears as our LB's. Upgrade receivers.... Kelly had a big game sure, but we still need Matthews IMO... Won't be this year I guess... Could use a depth guy to replace Romby next year to. Other things won't be fixed this year... We need a new DC... Although a Etch isn't a terrible DC, he's just so frustrating! We can do better... We need Stubler! Need to get those special teams worked out and a better OL, won't happen for a few years though Moral of the story, we're not nearly close to being a complete team

The game that nobody cares about
James replied to AtlanticRiderFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
**** that attitude. Take care of your own business and you can make the playoffs without needing help from anyone. I'm more like this kind of mentality, but our team is not that good... Playing the riders really exposed a lot of **** We need all the help we can get -
Should We Load 8 Or 9 In The Box To Stuff Messam?
James replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hate having a defence that can't stop the bloody run. If you can shut down the pass, fantastic! But shut down the run to and we win that game. Guaranteed! -

What was the end result goalie? All those stats are just little sub plots to help us with the end result, which was a loss If we didn't have such a *****, schematically bad defence and could stop the run as well as the pass... We would have crushed them. -
says one of the guys who just cant admit he was wrong wrong about what exactly? that we shouldn't have signed messam? If you think for one second that Messam does the same behind our oline as he has done behind sask oline, you are kidding me, he's not even their number 1 running back, THe guy sat unsigned for 2 3 weeks. Should we have signed him? I don't think so cuz i don't think he'd make that much of a difference behind our oline. Messams stats for this season 38 rushing attempts for 258 yards. Messams rushing against the bombers... 25 carries 190 yards... Meaning in his other games he has had 13 carries for 68 yards. He's not as good as you think. Would he have made a difference if he was playing for us? No, he wouldn't have because then he wouldn't be playing against us. He's put up all his numbers vs the bombers. 7.6 yard average vs the bombers. 5.2 vs the rest of the league on way way less carries.. THe guy has had 75 percent of his carries this season vs the bombers. He'd make no difference to us at all. Fun fact though : bombers lead the league in giving up the most rushing yards, don't matter who we play or what running back it is, they all RUN on us. Unless the argument is we should have signed him so then he wouldn't be playing against us. But even if that's the argument, why sign a guy just so he doesn't play against you, guess we should sign john chick and everyone else who gives us problems too, just so they wouldn't play against us. Your really reaching... its time to admit it now How am i reaching? Everything i said there was true. Honestly, I can't even read your posts on this topic because your so blindly against the idea that you were wrong it drives me nuts...The bloody point we all made in signing Messam in the first place was very simple and if you still don't get it I'm done with you We wanted Messam because not only was he an upgrade on Volny, he was a great change of pace RB. He has proven that he is still good and that 7 other teams ****** up (including the bombers) for not giving him a chance. He would also be great depth and insurance for an IN GAME back up because we would have a decent number two back in case Grigsby got hurt WITHOUT having to burn a DI on a RB. If you still can't see that not signing him was a mistake for the above reasons, your either just as stubborn as Etch, or your just not a very intelligent individual.

No one would be out initially, it may even take untill next year before he's ready.... But I would like to see Turner pushed out to DE when Christo is ready... Get him to lose 10 or so pounds and I think he'd be our best End since Phill Hunt
-
I'd love to see Pontbriand get the ball more.
-
Although I do think Romby gets an unfair rep around here... I would start JFG over both him and Kelly as well. I think we would be much more successful if we had 6 canucks on O and only Bucknor on D

Should We Load 8 Or 9 In The Box To Stuff Messam?
James replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I believe we have the horses to be able to stop both the run and the pass in this league. With our secondary there is no reason we cant have a front seven that is capable of Rushing/containing the QB, as well as being able to stuff the run. we just need to plug the right guys in the right spots... Somthing Etch seems to be to stubborn to do All we need is a hulking NT like a Khalif Mitchell and this defense could be dominant
