Oh boy was he ever.

What are the terms of "future considerations". Does that just mean if we make a deal with them in the future we have to add Kromah to whatever there offer is? I've never understood how that works... Almost seems like they're just giving us a player
-
I think woods is overall still a better punt returner than Washington even without the ball security issues. I hate his hesitant pause after he catches the ball... It doesn't seem like much time, but when you have professional football players running at full speed that one second is a lot more ground covered than you think. However, both Washington and cotton are better kick returners
-
Re: Grigsby punt returning, I'm just trying to be constructive and think of ideas... Another scenario, just put woods on for Unamba, and if a DB gets hurt, Wild takes over for Dunn, Dunn plays DB, Kromah plays Mac Or a Dunn plays SAM, and Sears plays DB... That way we have Woods reliable, and good punt returning, and Cottons KR and two great RB's on the roster
-
I personally would love that, but Etchevary seems to hate WILL LBers playing WLB
-
Kromah at SAM would be an epic disasterHe's a MLB Actually, I think if we use him right he would be a huge upgrade on Kuale
-
I wonder if Grigsby can catch punts well? Never thought of that possibility... Regardless, I'd have a try out for punt returns this week, and if no one showed they could be reliable, then it would be time to put woods back on the roster.... Should have signed Messam:p (yeah I went there )

Special teams specialists. All apples. Woods is a receiver too. Have we used any DI's on offence? Didn't see Cotton out there last night. Is Unamba playing defense anymore? He was terrible in the first two games when he saw some snaps. He's basically a specialist now too. There are 4 DI's. A guy who does all returns should be pretty easy to fit on the roster, especially if special teams are a priority, which they should be. First and foremost, we need somebody who is going to make positive plays for us, first step in that regard is to secure the ball. It's too important to play around with. Calling Woods a one-trick pony was ignorant, completely disregarding the importance of special teams. Especially ignorant the day after a 1 point game in which 6 opposition points (which could have pretty easily been 14 given where the drives started) came directly as a result of flubbed punt returns. Woods is a terrible receiver...Unamba is an American who's only good at special teams coverage, which is more of an example of why we should get him off the roster. Stoudermire is a good returner, and is capable of filling in for Unamba as well as being a back up DB. Why would we need to back up receiver with a DI when we have good Canadian receivers? We have zero good Canadian RB's and frankly, Cotton looked a hell of a lot better than Woods on KR's anyway. Why waste a DI spot on woods when we can have just as good returning and add better depth to the roster as well? Let me know when we have just as good returning with someone else. Haven't seen it yet. Cotton and Ford can't handle punts. Washington can catch punts sometimes, careless with the ball. Stoudermire wasn't a punt returner in college. Can he catch punts? Catching punts is a skill in itself. We can't have two turnovers a game just so we have a guy who can stand on the sidelines and wait for someone to get hurt to play O or D. If Grigsby gets hurt first quarter, our offence will be screwed if we don't have a decent back up.... Would be a good way to get Willy hurt with the opposing defence teeing off on himDI'ing Woods just to catch punts seems like a waste. We really should see if Stoudermire can do it first. (Doesn't have to be in a game) Washington and Cotton are both better at returning kick offs Seems like a waste? If Drew Willy doesn't lead a last minute touchdown drive last night we basically lose a game because we couldn't catch punts. Come on man. The point isn't just in front of you, it's kicking you in the face. Everyone agrees it was a mistake to have Washington doing the punt returning. What I disagree with is taking Cotton off the roster before seeing if Stoudermire or Cotton can do punt returns I think we saw pretty clearly that Cotton can't do it in the pre-season. He didn't even try to catch the punts when he got a chance. I want him on the roster, I'd keep him on at Grigsby's expense, but if they aren't going to use Cotton at all on offense as a DI, he doesn't bring a lot of value, through no fault of his own. Unamba's role should be filled by a NI. If we leave Cotton on at Grigsby's expense we still have the same problem... No one behind him at RB, and Grigsbys been pretty awesome, so I don't necessarily want Cotton being the starter anyway. Grigsby's pass pro was awesome last night, and he is a hell of a receiver out of the backfield. If we had a good Canadian RB, I'd be all for getting Woods on the roster

You obviously weren't at training camp and have no idea what you're talking about in relation to Woods! He caught everything thrown to him in TC! What an ignorant comment! Because catching passes in practice against a bunch of DBS who aren't even in the league is just a phenomenal accomplishment. And he was also far from consistent from what I heard correctly.. Were you at every single practice? I was at most and you obviously weren't at any! Trying to defend your ignorant statement with hearsay has no value! I don't even feel I need to defend it because I see it as total truth. You really think woods would be of any use to us at receiver in a real game against starting caliber defensive backs in this league? Just because he caught a few balls against some no name DBS that I can't even remember there names in PRACTICE, does not mean he is a good receiver... Sorry to burst your bubble

I don't mind him in Kuale's role, but Wild better not have less playing time because of this

He's not to slow, he's just not aggressive enough. He showed his wheels on the fumble recovery. I think Dunn's good but you're right about Kuale... Played crappy last night... Wonder if he's a little dinged up
-
That's actually a pretty good idea, if the coaching staff is set on getting Cotton into the game. I still really like Woods, but he is a bit of a one trick pony and that might limit his chances of staying in the lineup on a consistent basis. We should take the kickers off the roster too...one-trick ponies. That's a terrible comparisonIf we can get a reliable returner that could back up and provide depth on defence why wouldn't we try it? Stoudermire could also fill Unambas role on coverage teams as well... It's a no brainer IMO. He'd be much more valuable to the roster than Woods is, who can't do anything but return.
-
If we would use Cotton more on offence it would be worth it to bench Woods.... I think We need to bench Unamba for Stoudermire and let Stoudermire do Punts. Im sure they just thought Demond earned a shot to be the full time Punt returner. But I'm sure that experiment is over now though.
-
O-line couldn't handle the blitz. But boy did Grigsby ever look better in pass pro last night... Washington can't be our primary punt returner. I forgot about the stupid hesitation he does before he takes off. Plus the ball control issues, he just cant do it. Cotton looked pretty explosive on Kick returns though. It's to bad he cant do Punts to cuz he looks like he's even faster than Demond! It might be time to have Stoudermire on the roster to do punts? Woods does a good job sure, but I really think we need to keep Cotton on the roster. I agree with all Nates points.. If we're going to beat Edmonton next week we need Sears at SAM and Leggett healthy at Safety. Sears wasn't all that great at safety(not bad either though). Sherman can't be a full time Starter at SAM though IMHO. Denmark at WR isn't working out all that great either IMO. I'd like to see him at Slot and Kelly at WR.. Need Watson back next week also Theres a lot we need to improve on if we're going to beat Edmonton(but mostly just need some bodies back)
-
I don't know, TBH, I'm secretly hoping for Demski next year... I love the hometown effect... and I really think Goosen is going to be a gem of a pick, and with the rise of Neufeld, we don't really need to have tunnel vision on an OL first round.

You guys keep re-hashing the same old tired arguments against Messam that hold no ground over and over and over.

Might as well just implement the two hand touch rule on QB's already

Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
James replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Its not an excuse, because he should have jumped on it anyway, but Im pretty sure he thought it was an incomplete pass. -
One real goods thing about Etch is he is not shy about using Canadians that most other defensive coaches are scared to try and use. If there's some diamonds in the rough in your roster, Etch will find them. Im not saying Etch has won me over just yet, but I'm giving credit where its due... and he's doing a good job thus far.

I don't have an issue with Woods returns... I just think that Cotton brings more to the offence than Woods does. I'd personally like to have very good in game depth at RB because I believe it's a very important position. Canadian can back up at Receiver and do well and theres 4 other guys to pick up the slack... @ RB, not so much
