I wouldn't mind playing some touch football with you guys! -
So what are the new roster rules exactly? Is there still a 4 man reserve?

Terrell Parker & Mike McAdoo released

given that they're loading up on dbs and cutting lbs to do it I am getting depressed... it's been like 12 years since the team has won in Calgary but if we're speculating correctly about the changes to the D the Stamps are just going to run all over the field on these guys and I'm going to have to endure another ass kicking in that stadium. I just want to see the damned team win for once when they make the trip to Alberta. yep! Cornish is going to destroy us..... It's going to be a very painfull sight.... We play them more this year too... there could be 2 games in calagary this year... Cornish could have over 400 yards in 2 games LOL -
If Etch didn't like McRath because of his speed, He certainly wont like McCune. While talented, McCune doesn't necessarily have a blazing 40
-
Maybe he meant his schemes are too basic for a truly talented offence? That's what I got anyway

2 and 20 for 5 and 12 would be close value IMO. 5 and 12 would allow the Bombers to add a depth player on D and potentially one of the local guys. Hard to know if a team like BC would want to move up though, who would they be targeting a 2 that they won't be able to get at 5? Foucault? I think if I'm Buono I prefer 5 and 12. You could just feel that way because that's what we would prefer. Buono has much stronger Canadians than us so he could be specifically wanting a real good Center, where we need more Canadians right now. I'd love to get 5 and 12... There will still be a really good player or two at 5(Gill or Smith), and we could still get a good depth guy at 12 like Briggs or Bastien. If we could pull that trade off we'd really make out like bandits. I guess it depends how desperate BC would have to be for Goosen/Lavertu/Focault Id throw in 26 too if that's what it took to get that deal done. Realistically its only 5+12. If that's the case I'd only be willing to go 2 and 29

Seems like right after Duane Ford mentioned him, everybody fell in love with him

Where's mike when you need him lol

I was kind of thinking he was going to win a starting role off the edge... Shows how much I know about football -
Maybe Etch wants him at MLB

His track record as a DC in this league is not that bad. Over 5 seasons as a CFL DC, he has posted a 42-46-2 record, with 4 playoff appearances and 2 Grey Cup appearances. The one year he missed the playoffs was in 2000 with Saskatchewan and if you remember what was going on with the Riders in 2000, it is pretty tough to lay the blame on him for that one.The fact of the matter is that people are up in arms because he is unconventional in his approach, nothing more. It has nothing to do with winning or losing, which is the really strange thing. I guess some people are just afraid to take chances and would rather go with a known loser like Kavis Reed than swing for the fences with a guy like Etcheverry. You manipulating stats to support your point of view... His defences being good only lasts untill opposing offences figure him out
-
I hate that we hired Etchevary.... Would rather Greg Marshall for pete sakes... Kavis looks like the King of defence to me right now... Should of went with Kavis

Ya sure, it would be all well and good if they didn't do it to twelve other guys, and if Etch didn't have the track record that he has. If the scouting department, Management and HC all like the guy, wouldn't you think... Gee maybe I'm wrong about him, maybe he deserves a shot in TC? I sure would... So one guy allegedly gets cut based on Etcheverry's opinion and suddenly it is Etcheverry behind every cut they've made this off-season? Come on. This is obviously part of the new strategy for these guys. They want to bring in the best players and they're not going to be afraid to use mini-camp to judge guys and get the best possible 75 on the roster. They do it all the time in the NFL and all they've got is a three-day mini-camp to work with as well. They even cut guys after the offseason OTA's and those are even less strenuous than the mini-camp, mostly just strength and conditioning. I never meant to imply he was behind very cut. That was miscommunication... I'm not sure what cuts he was behind. And its not even that I'm pissed off that we released McRath... I don't even know if he'd be a good player up here... I just don't like Etch for his track record in the league and other reasons already mentioned... which you cant say are invalid reasons. I think that if Management and my HC really liked a player, and I didn't, I would respect their opinions enough to give him a shot in TC. His refusal to do that is fuel on the fire for me and my opinion towards him.(not that it really matters)
-
So we could get Drew Willy. He was easily our third best Canadian receiver, and everyone knows it no matter how much they bias against him.

Ive had the same opinion... Great athlete, fantastic physical specimen but Im not sure he's the cerebral type to come and win the game withing the game. Could be an assignment blower as well. We'll see. Maybe the rider fans can tell us all about how crappy he is now that they've released him
-
Thats not nearly the same thing and you know... Etch was already on thin ice with many of us due to his track history in this league. Combine that with the article about him being fired from wherever and him being all arrogant about it, not even having a playbook, sounding like a crazy, and now this latest gem of a rumor going against management pushing for his release.... Its going to take a miracle for me, and many others I presume, to change our opinions on the guy.
-
I hope not.... I don't want to pick a guy just because he plays a position we need at the moment if Walters and Co aren't that high on him. I'd personally love Smith. Get him down to 290 and he'd be a great rotational NI for us on defence, who could fill in on O-line if there was a rash of injuries. If Watman is actually available I'd try and grab him post draft. Reason being that I like the ceiling of Lavertu more than Watman, and I wouldn't want to get rid of number 2 before we even had a shot at him.(I also like Smith just as much as Lavertu, But Lavertu really fills a giant gaping hole we have at center)
-
Etcheverry's Pissing me off already, and we haven't even begun main Camp. I hope O'Shea had an interim in mind when he hired the guy... Anyone on our staff have DC experience?
-
I don't think Kelly is going to make the team...
-
Imo, its much better to dress 2 import rb's than it is an extra import receiver... Even if he only does KR
-
Is Grigsby a talented returner? Would be nice to have Grigsby be the returner with Smith as our starting back! IMO I wouldn't really mind if we Had Grigsby and Ford as our two backs, With Ford in the DI role doing KR... Because IMO we have one of the top PR on the team in the league in Washington. If he gets tired we got guys who can fill in on defence... I think one of Banks or Sears will likely be a DI and can fill in adequately enough.
-
That's a bit of a leap. More like they want a strong kicking game and won't accept a mediocre Canadian there just because he's Canadian, like we've done for the past 4 years. I was being sarcastic... Not sure why they are even wasting a roster spot on American kickers, we're likely already using a DI spot on a returner, we can't afford to burn one on a kicker... Our roster simply doesn't have the Canadian talent

Count me in the camp that thinks January is either worst of the best tier, or best of the second tier of OL in the cfl
