Is it known which Western team tried to grab Spooner off PR??
johnzo replied to Booch's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, I bet the injured list thing is a bonus to Spooner for staying put with us. -

Manafort had previously said he'd testify in return for immunity. FBI turned that down cold.

I would never say never but I would be extremely surprised if Trump does time.

Fascinating look at the team watching / operating / maintaining the Voyager spacecraft as they venture beyond the solar system. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/03/magazine/the-loyal-engineers-steering-nasas-voyager-probes-across-the-universe.html If you TLDR, here's your takeaway: these people are supreme badasses.

Don't need another offensive guy on the panel. Gotta get a defensive player on there to balance things out right.

Was it JBR who was high on Fajardo?

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
johnzo replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Here's what I expect from the Ticats D based on what I've seen watching the league over (mumble) decades: 1) the players will be feeling the heat and will be extra jacked up and flying around... 2) but the change in routine and the extra adrenaline will make for confusion and chaos and busts. The Tim Burke coaching change in mid-2012 was the huge glaring exception to this. The Bombers played like garden slugs with chronic fatigue syndrome in the game after Lapo got canned. -
They did this at times in the BC game -- we'd sub Thomas for Hurl and Santos-Knox in for whatever DL Thomas replaced.

Can't remember which game it was, but there was this one Nicholls pick this season with a long return and Dressler was absolutely a missile on that play, tracking the DB a long way down the field and taking him down before he could score. So I think our MLB fix is already in house, let's move WD7 into the middle once he's off the six-game. Plus, we've been trying to think of ways to get Dressler and Flanders onto the game roster together, maybe this would be an opportunity to do that. To make the ratio work we can swap out Hardrick for Rempel.

2017-08-05 Saskatchewan at BC Johnson, Arceneaux, Rainey, Burnham, now Williams. Break up the Lions! "Quarterbacks can't come back from shoulder injuries!" More forum nonsense.

2017-08-04 Hamilton at Edmonton Poor Zach Collaros. Playing behind turnstiles. Football malpractice. C.J. Gable tears it up early. Austin's next move? Abandon run game.

2017-08-03 Calgary at Toronto Argos compete hard! Didn't matter; outcome was inevitable.

Oh, no complaints about how Shultz turns out ... whoever is dressing the big man makes solid choices, and he wears them well ... but he is not pushing the envelope like the other guys.

2017-08-04 Winnipeg at Ottawa (supplemental) In the second half, with challenges exhausted, zebras call great game.

Matty and Milt have been killing it with their suit selections on the halftime show. Damn, those guys look sharp My wife now watches the halftime show just like she watches Coach's Corner ... just to see what people are wearing.

2017-08-04 Winnipeg at Ottawa Julian's smooth! But Feoli-Gudino's a rough name to haiku.

Yeah, I didn't see any chintzy calls against the bombers last night. Saw a couple of missed blatant holds by the RBs but those are the fortunes of war.
-
The trouble with having multiple challenges is that it means that more marginal pi and contact calls will be turned into big turning-point plays, which is the worst. For me, challenges are about fixing obvious and glaring mistakes rather than making the game turn on chintzy calls. I loved how the onfield officials called the second half of last night's game, once they didn't have to worry about being second guessed by Toronto. Maybe the zebras deserve some credit for knowing how to call an entertaining football game.
-
I like this because it doesn't penalize a team that's a victimized by a ridiculous bad call ... like than non-catch in BC and last night's PI ... but I don't think it penalizes late-in-the-half desperation fishing expeditions enough. Unless that delay of game also carries a loss of down after the 3 minute warning...
-
Loved the flow of the game. Especially loved how the standards on pass interference got looser in the second half. There were good defensive plays on both sides that would have been easy challenges a week ago, but which would have just been good D five years ago.

Never heard of the tune, so I tracked it down. Wow, Burton Cummings was a bitter man back in 1970. Wikipedia says the song was about Bowie. Speaking of Bowie, here's Motörhead covering one of his big hits: Motörhead is releasing a whole record of covers in the fall. Will have tunes from the Sex Pistols, the Stones, Priest, Twisted Sister, etc. No Guess Who tho.

this post shouldn't merely be liked, it should be quoted and repeated for emphasis. We are starting three rookies on our field side. Lulay threw 80% of his passes to the field against us. You're damn right those kids are gonna be scrambling. As we get our dbs back from the sickbay, we'll tune the secondary back up and then we can figure out how our kids look when we mix them in with seasoned vets. And in the meantime, Nichols has done a pretty great job of keeping us in these shootout games.

Rich, while this stuff is on your mind ... a couple of versions ago, MBB would track where you were in reading a thread and would automatically take you to the last unseen comment when you clicked on the thread title. Is that something that can be restored? It makes it way easier to follow threads. thanks for all your work!
