  1. I don't deserve a ton of credit, we outnumbered them by at least ten to one so it wasn't super brave of me or anything. It's an easy stand to make, you just have to show up.
  2. https://twitter.com/CayleThompson/status/873592423456227329 Act for America held "anti-sharia" demonstrations in several American cities today. Seattle was out to greet them. We drowned them out ... people had cowbells, drums, foghorns, whistles. I brought my bomber horn. One of the yahoos was waving a strange green flag. The design reminds me of something...
  3. 8 completions for 58 yards. Yeah, that looks like a 2016 Willy statline.
  4. yeah, that's the big question, does Ray have a few more miles in him? Would love to see him go out on high note, have been a fan of his since the 2005 Grey Cup ... he and AC put on an air show in that game.
  5. Really interested to see if Trestman can turn around Drew Willy's career. It'd be some bad karma off the Bombers if he does because our 2014 and 2015 teams basically destroyed Willy, and that was a shame, because I believe he had the tools to be a solid CFL starter.
  6. so I mostly like aggressive music but recently my mom has fallen for Elton John's greatest hits. She lives alone back in t-bay and she's got some cognitive stuff going on so anything she gets enthusiastic about I want to support. She gifted me an EJ CD and we are listening and swapping emails about the tunes. The songs are decent ... Sir Elton knows his **** ... but I think my favorite part of his act is the old costumes. Damn, that man could peacock better than anyone. Every one of these outfits is a gem. https://www.buzzfeed.com/kimberleydadds/the-most-flamboyant-elton-john-stage-costumes-possibly-ever?utm_term=.wy9mylMLLE#.baG1n6AVVO
  7. The Argos are gonna have an easier schedule for sure... Gonna be real interesting to see if Trestman can revitalize another QB's career. If his O can get the ball out of Ray's hands quickly and protect Ray as well as it used to protect Calvillo, the Boatmen could do some damage.
  8. No argument there ... in the USA, at least the parts of it I know, the idea of interning people in camps is very well understood. Especially out here in Seattle, our Japanese community was hit very hard by the WWII internments. When I say mainstreaming I worry about people nodding and saying "hey those camps sound like a good idea." And it's heartening to hear the host on Fox explicitly reject it when it came up. But it's easy for me to be clinical about it and dismiss it as impractical -- I have zero fear that anyone is going to put me on any kind of list in the future. Other folks might not be so sanguine.
  9. Yeah, it's impractical on dozens of levels and I bet the courts would crap on it in the USA. But it's still alarming as rhetoric and I hope these ideas are not mainstreamed any further.
  10. Justin Holland had a spark during a pre-season game in .. I wanna say 2007? .. but got cut anyway. His dad turned up on OB. Maybe there was some heat there? Anyway, I think I remember him signing off graciously after Justin got cut.
  11. Todd Marinovich. The Johnny Football of his day, ultra-hyped college QB who had a huge national profile and a bunch of monkeys on his back. He was a bust in the NFL -- the Raiders made him go to Betty Ford -- then he showed up at Bomber training camp in ... 1993? 1994? ... and blew out his knee on the first day. In 1999 he was a backup QB in BC behind Damon Allen and Khari Jones. Didn't throw a pass, but he used lots of heroin and famously once cut his hand on a crack pipe at halftime, he had to secretly bandage it and keep it hidden on the sidelines. Guy was a total mess, his father was a piece of work who devoted his whole life to making his kid into the ultimate QB. Just had a look at his Wikipedia page, still looks like he's bouncing in and out of trouble. It's sad, the guy is a musician and a painter as well, he's good at lots of stuff, but H is a harsh mistress.
  12. Media in Britain and USA calling for Muslim internment camps: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/king-trump-supporters-calling-muslim-internment-camps-article-1.3228321
  13. Alex Suber must really, really love our fans ... the team was 23-40 while he was here. Good job, fans!
  14. Bombers D had a lot of takeaways last year but they also gave up gobs and gobs of passing yards, the most in the league by a fair margin. Though we were middle-of-the-pack in points allowed. Bend, don't break. This is the thing that has me wondering if we're headed for a 2012ish letdown ... in 2011, just like 2016, we made a ton of lucky plays on D but when our luck ran out in 2012, it wasn't pretty...
  15. Although maybe a bit premature to talk about errors before his team is on the field and actually playing games. But I'll be surprised if they have anything more than a few isolated sparks of success in 2017, I'm getting the feeling they're facing a nightmare of MackBurkian proportions there.
  16. Has there ever been a guy who was successful at being a GM, head coach, and coordinator all at the same time? That to me is the single biggest mistake that Jones is making, trying to do too much at once and it's showing in recruiting and on D especially.
  17. I always thought Allen was a good back with speed, moves, and power, but I think he fumbles a bit more than a feature back should. I went to check on this and couldn't find season fumble stats anywhere where it's easy to find them. Does anyone know where to get the giant PDF stats dumps for last year? The ones they give the broadcasters?
  18. Play of the year last year, I think.
  19. Got on an XTC kick tonight. And speaking of rock covers by Canadian ladies, I just dicovered that Sarah McLaughlin covered Dear God. She really tears into the third verse. I bet this would cook live.
  20. So many good moments. "You want a bad night? Try sleeping on one of these!"
  21. Damn, suspending their big FA OL on the eve of camp? What kinda bad moon is on the rise out there? Dennis' twitter reveals nothing, he's just trying to borrow a TV for camp. Wonder if they're putting veteran players on the suspended list in order to get more bodies into camp?
  22. http://3downnation.com/2016/05/21/16278/ Please please someone ask Dyakowski how he'll stay pumped up without the best fans in Canada cheering him on.... But seriously how do you turn a dime-a-dozen import receiver into a starting national OL? Is Toronto dumping a bad contract? Is Dyakowski's odometer just about used up? Some alchemy there...
  23. I don't think Kushner has ever tweeted, at least not according to the Wayback Machine.
  24. The President can't fire the VP. The VP is, in fact, the only person in the executive branch that the President can't fire.
  25. oh god I can't believe I'm posting this. maximum nerd shame engaged. please ready your mocking gifs. The thing with the Klingons is even more interesting when you remember that the TOS Klingons were basically swarthy generic Asiatics. TMP gave us the modern bone crested Klingons. There are episodes of DS9 where Worf is asked about this and he says they don't talk about it. So there's already canon established that the Klingons occasionally transform as a species (or wholesale kill off a subspecies, maybe) so it'll be interesting to see if they explain how Discovery Klngons became TOS Klingons became TMP-forward Klingons.
