  1. man I hate seeing little wide receivers fight for yardage in a crowd of tacklers. Just asking for a fumble. Get the first down, step out. You're not gonna move a pile.
  2. That was a real Crazy Football League game -- gruesome and gorgeous in equal measure. Happy to have the win. Onward and upward. Looks like Walters and McManus have finally found an import receiver with some game. Loving to see what Jace Davis Daniels Davis is bringing, he's overshadowing our expensive free agents.
  3. Youtube gotcha covered: I am gonna be a giant nerd and have a read/watch along tonight.
  4. This is the best. Love reading this stuff.
  5. Is it even that easy to know in hindsight? If someone on a return team puts a hold on a cover guy in the first second of a punt play, you won't see the impact until there's a little opening where that cover guy ought to be, a few seconds later. (maybe this already happens on all punt plays, I dunno, never played special teams ... or any teams)
  6. Come out gunslinging. Calgary is gonna stack the box to stop Harris early because Harris was our only reliable threat for much of last game. Throw over their heads.
  7. Always appreciated Durant and I'm glad to see him on the field again. I've never seen a CFL QB shrug off DLs like he did in his prime. It'll be pretty amazing if he comes back and plays well after two potentially career-ending injuries.
  8. poor 46 for Montreal, trying to cover Williams across the middle. Nice mismatch created by Ottawa there.
  9. That's gotta be an ejection. Shame, this game was sucking and needed a spark and Carter makes a fantastic catch and then clowns it up. Bush league.
  10. Gotta reserve judgement until we actually see them on the field... ..but I've gotta ask, has anyone seen Gary Etcheverry lately? Are we certain that this "Chris Jones" isn't just Etch in a rubber mask?
  11. Andrew Harris.
  12. that was the same tweet that had Masoli as QB of the week, right? Nothing against Masoli, he's looking good so far, but T Harris was the QB of the week last week and it wasn't even close.
  13. Marriageable is all, I think. Another prediction: Littlefinger is gonna try to trade use of his army to King Jon Snow in exchange for an engagement to Sansa.t
  14. It's amazing how much better the show got when it outran the books. Stuff is actually happening now. Winter is finally here.
  15. Yeah, Jon Snow is the son of the old mad king Rhegar Targaryean, Dany's father, the one who was killed by Jaime the Kingslayer Jon's mother is Liana Stark, Ned's sister.
  16. My prediction: Arya wants to kill Cersei. Cersei is protected by FrankenMountain. So the title card fight next season will be Arya vs. The Mountain. Arya will have to figure out how to kill something that's already dead.
  17. yup, from the stands you can't see that tramp stamp. good lord, that's brutal ugly. Still think the BC road uniforms look fantastic, though.
  18. The biggest groan I had was when Montreal put seven or eight guys on the line, rushed them all, and buried Willy. They telegraphed the blitz so hard and we had no answer. But it's game one. Gonna hold off on panicking for a few weeks.
  19. loving this thread. the kids are all right.
  20. Holy cow, Jacquie, that's like Coen Bros. movie stuff. A couple weeks ago I was talking with @kelownabomberfan about how my Muslim friends in Seattle told me they are frightened of Trump. Aziz Ansari (Parks & Rec, stand-up comic, etc) talks about this fear way better than I can: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/26/opinion/sunday/aziz-ansari-why-trump-makes-me-scared-for-my-family.html
  21. yeah, and no knock on Durant's football intelligence, which I have no ability to evaluate, but for me what made the guy special was his athleticism and especially his escapability. Not a lot of QBs around who can shrug off DTs like he did in his prime. It'll be interesting to see if he still has that and if he doesn't, how it impacts his game.
  22. Yeah, me too. I mean, good on Mike Riley for trying to make it right but his work is of lesser importance to hers'.
  23. The notorious thing about the Stanford swimmer rape case is that the dude got 60 days for raping an unconscious woman next to a dumpster. That's why there was a massive outcry. The victim worked for a hellish year to make him pay for his crime, the prosecutor beat his high-dollar lawyers and convinced 12 jurors to convict him on three counts (rape charges are pretty tricky to convict on, especially in front of a jury). And the judge was like, well, you seem like a nice boy and we don't want to damage your future prospects, so let's let you go with a slap on the wrist and put this behind us. One imagines that if he were not an elite Olympic prospect, this would have gone differently. With such a tiny sentence, he'll do his time in the county jail, which is much less scary that the state pen. Now to be fair, he also has to register as a sex offender, he's lost his scholarship, USA Swimming has ejected him, and any google on his name will reveal him to be a big ol' sex predator. So he's taken some hits, but people wanted more.
  24. The thing that kills me about this OL is that we're supposedly talent-poor but then our discards go off to start on other teams. Sorensen and Greaves are both Grey Cup champs. What's going on there?
