Rookies gonna rookie. I'm rooting for Sam because I think gay kids benefit from having prominent representation, but yeah, don't put him under a microscope like that when he's not really doing anything special.

Good lord those signature redblack unis are ugly.

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion

That's a huge bummer about Heenan. I always root for CFL alums, no matter what team they come from. -
I really love Stade Molson. It's a beautiful place to watch a football game.

Very curious to see if Chad Simpson is still The Most Frustrating Running Back.

I'm ordinarily super cynical about Harper but I do get warm and fuzzies for home when the TSN cameras show him sitting in the crowd at a Redblacks game. Funny, we didn't start getting presidential shutdowns in Seattle until Obama was in office. For some reason, GWB didn't ever come here

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

I would much rather watch the 2015 Roughriders than the 2013 Bombers. -
Bridge didn't look good at all. Not capable of being a starting CFL qb. I guess Higgins felt it was better to bring Cato back. He sure made the right choice. Oh, definitely. I just wonder how Bridge beat out Cato in the first place.

Garage Band is a helluva product for its niche. I don't think there's a non-Mac GB equivalent. That's the only thing I can think of...

The thing I don't get is how Cato leapfrogged Bridge. Higgins cut Cato and kept Bridge but suddenly it was Cato starting. Cato must have had a heck of a great practice that week...

Rider fans calling Willy a great pocket passer

yeah, I don't think it's a super tough decision between 2014 Durant and 2014 Willy. On one hand, you've got a proven championship-calibre QB who can do some things better than any other CFL QB, who has never suffered a serious injury, and who should have a number of years left on his odometer. On the other hand you've got a promising guy who has won a couple games and looked decent doing it. -
Yeah, it was third down and there were more than 10 seconds left in the game when they put the ball into play. If they'd just downed the ball the clock would've stopped on change of possession and Montreal would've had a play or two on O. And it'd be tough to burn ten seconds just running around in the backfield, never mind the injury risk to BLM. So it was funny-looking but I can't think of a better thing for them to have done. Weirdly, the CFL stats for the game don't include that play.

Odds and Sods - Game 6 - BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
johnzo replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
To be fair every time he dove he was diving for the first down. Love it. Naw, near the end of the second quarter he was like 5 yards beyond the first down when he dove (into Eliminian!) -
I have the 13-inch "early 2008" macbook, which can't run Lion (2011) or anything later.

Joe Fuller: one rush, minus forty yards.

3rd-and-3 with 1:50 left. What do the Als call here? QB draw?

...C'mon Cato, let's see some three-minute magic here.

They're playing Tom Sawyer at McMahon ... at least the PA guy in Calgary is getting it done.

If Hamilton and Montreal win this weekend, 7 of the 9 CFL teams will be at .500 or better. #parity

Good lord, that is some kinda Grey Cup hangover we're seeing.

(KYLE WALTERS, GM of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, is wandering through the desert. He is clearly in bad shape, his clothing is in tatters, he is sunburned, his lips are cracked, his eyes are swollen shut from the constant barrage of sand and the brutal sun. He is limping and his footprints are smeared with blood from his bare feet. Following Walters is JADE ETIENNE. Etienne is wearing a chain collar and Walters is holding his leash.) SUBTITLE: January 2014. (Enter ZACH COLLAROS, wearing a crisp safari suit, riding on a well-bred two-hump camel.) COLLAROS: Hello, Kyle Walters! How would you like to buy a ride out of this desert? WALTERS (coughing sand) No. I would prefer to have Drew Willy bring me out of this desert. He has a helicopter! COLLAROS: Suit yourself. KENT AUSTIN (offscreen, angry): Hey, Collaros! Over here! (Collaros rides off. Enter HENRY BURRIS, who is smiling. He is driving a land rover. It is an old land rover with not a lot of tread left on its tires, but its air conditioning still works.) BURRIS: Hey Walters, you want me to drive you out of here? WALTERS: What? I'm sorry, I was too busy pissing blood to hear what you said. BURRIS: You need a ride out? WALTERS: No. Drew Willy will be along shortly to pick me up. (enter MARCEL DESJARDINS. He floats down on a parachute made of money. Burris and Desjardins embrace and wander off together.) WALTERS (stumbling forward.) Drew Willy? Are you out there? (enter BRENDAN TAMAN being carried upon a litter by the BEST FANS IN CANADA) TAMAN: Hello Walters. WALTERS: Brendan! Thank God you're here! I want to have a talk with Drew Willy. (Walters rattles Etienne's chain). I'll give you Jade here if you let me talk to him. Jade's put on a bunch of weight! He'll be good eatin'! TAMAN: Sorry, bro, I've just traded Willy's rights to BC. (Off in the distance, we see Wally Buono climbing aboard Drew Willy's shiny new helicopter) WALTERS: (anguished) Noooooo! (Walters collapses into the sand. When he looks up, he sees BRIAN BROHM. Brohm is walking a bicycle with no back wheel. WALTERS: I suppose you'll have to do. Close on Brohm pushing Walters through the desert. Walters is on the handlebars of Brohm's bike. Above them, vultures circle. -
My 2008 Macbook hasn't been supported by Apple for three years now. Because Apple aggressively obsoletes its software, I can't use anything newer than 2011ish. My 2008 hand-built desktop boots into Linux mostly and windows 7 for games. Everything runs fine on it, though of course I'm not playing Crysis or any other really modern games. Never buying an apple computer again. I like my computers to be supported for way longer than they want to support them.

Odds and Sods - Game 6 - BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
johnzo replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hate hate hate the pass interference challenges. It does terrible things to the game's pacing when huge plays in certain situations -- picks in the endzone, or pick-sixes -- will always be challenged.
