  1. c'mon allcaps, you got this one. be so good for the league if the blacks stun the stamps. the East needs a legit team. those are def. nice looking helmets.
  2. that is a beautiful and literary image -- a literal sunset falling on Ty Jones as he metaphorically sunsets a quarterback.
  3. just for fun this weekend I think I'm gonna break out Audacity and the game highlights and see if I can EQ out the horn frequency, because this is what I was thinking -- the horn is going to be a sharp notch on the stadium noise frequency distribution and a notch filter will make short work of it while doing very little damage to the crowd noise (which is valuable, I agree).
  4. The anti-abortion crowd knows that they don't have popular support, so they tried to be sneaky, asking a confusing question during a low-turnout primary election and being disingenuous about what the legislature would do if the referendum passed. It wasn't making national news, but the pro-choice people I know down here were very very aware of what was going on in Kansas. unfortunately for the wingers, that primary election quickly became a high-turnout election, and everyone knew the stakes: as soon as the constitutional obstacles were dealt with, the GOP supermajority in the Kansas government would've immediately imposed a comprehensive ban.
  5. it could be that TSN moved their stadium mics, or that the horn people were in a different seat than usual. I am not a sound guy but I would think that a sound guy could EQ out the nastier frequencies in that horn sound.
  6. I think for the full Molson Stadium experience you've gotta be up in the stands. It's an extraordinarily beautiful view from up there with the mountains and the city all laid out in front of you. Especially at sunset during the summer. for me, it's every bit as charming as people say it is. (note that I find the view from IGF stunning as well, I come from the Canadian Shield and have never lived on the prairies, so when I looked south from my IGF seats at night and saw the perfect curve of the horizon, that was weird and cool to me.)
  7. no, this is pyramiding.
  8. the horn sucks but at least the Als don't have that clown yelling "faire du bruit" on the PA every down like they used to.
  9. Pinstripe vest and dotted tie on Sanchez ... a rare miss by the panel wardrobe team.
  10. Western Final last year, dude. It turned out ok.
  11. the podcast Knowledge Fight is plugged in with the plaintiffs' attorneys in the Alex Jones case. There's lots of discussion in their subreddit, including posts and comments by one of the attorneys. https://www.reddit.com/r/KnowledgeFight/ caution: this is the purest source of schadenfreude I have ever encountered. Use in moderation.
  12. damn, I wish Moe Leggett could have had some of the glory of 2019. If I'd bought a jersey in 2014-2018 it would've been his. he was such a huge part of the 2016 turnaround season. https://www.cfl.ca/games/2338/bc-lions-vs-winnipeg-blue-bombers one of my favorite games ever, so much great action & drama, and the good guys win because Moe Leggett is clutch.
  13. my final word on this story: the wingers' hot take is to blame the abortion biz for massively outspending the anti-abortion side. which is their way of saying:
  14. media now calling the Kansas referendum for the No side. Kansans have voted to protect a woman's right to control her own body.
  15. big post-Roe referendum in Kansas tonight, as abortion "returns to the states" With just under half the votes counted, the Kansas anti-abortion constitutional amendment is being rejected 64-36. If this result holds then abortion will remain legal and (afaik) unrestricted in Kansas. The background is complicated. The Kansas Supreme Court ruled recently that their state's constitution prevented legislators from passing abortion restrictions. With Roe gone and abortion now a matter for the states, anti-abortion people placed a constitutional amendment on today's Kansas ballot that would override the Kansas Supreme Court and explicitly state that no matter what else the Kansas constitution says, it does not contain a right to an abortion.
  16. Good news for Roughrider fans: it's nothing but adversity from here on out.
  17. wasn't there some animosity there about Harris' role? like maybe Wally didn't see him as an undisputed RB1? seem to recall something like that.
  18. I think I've got that one. No nameplate, silkscreened numbers, made of a weird polyester that still has a little bit of off gassing smell? I've lost a bunch of weight recently and I'm getting an away bomber jersey to celebrate hitting 200lbs. Trying to figure out who, but ZC8 is definitely in the mix. My wife is a big fan of any bomber who does animal welfare work so she wants me to get an Oliveira or maybe a Cvetty. I'm thinking BATTLE 34 or T. JONES 35 is gonna be it tho it's a tiny bit weird to get a super vintage name on a modern jersey.
  19. my next jersey is going to be the white home model we wear at IGF West.
  20. for real, when I saw that play I thought of Robert Marve. late in the season vs Calgary, whacky play, QB running around like a roadrunner then making a magical throw, home crowd loses its mind, a fun thing to watch but probably just yet another flash in the pan from yet another emergency Bomber QB. made me also think about that nutty Goltz to Denmark throw from a few years previously. Troy Kopp before him. Those guys popped up, made a bit of magic, then dried up and blew away. but then ZC kept doing it, and he kept getting better and better and better... Marve has a bunch of DV on his resume since retiring from football. glad he didn't pan out.
  21. this is me eating the most delicious slice of humble pie I've ever eaten. thanks to 204 for the late laugh reaction that highlighted my earlier, dumber self.
  22. wow, the Lions' OL is a light year better than they were last year. they gave butler some real nice holes to run thru tonight and gave up only two sacks ... Riders were the leading sackers going into the game.
  23. Chungh hustling on the missed FG cover. love seeing a big OL vs. a little guy on kick coverage.
